As their friendship with Julie grows, the boys convince her to create a new band together: Julie and the Phantoms.

From Emmy and DGA Award-winning director and choreographer Kenny Ortega (High School Musical, Descendants) and choreographer Paul Becker (Descendants, Mirror Mirror) comes a fresh and exciting new musical series about embracing life’s ups and downs, following your dreams, and discovering the power of your own voice. Shooting Allegations

Rapper Megan Thee Stallion has publicly accused fellow rapper and singer Tory Lanez of shooting her in the feet after an argument last month. Megan made the Instagram last Thursday during an Instagram Live on her personal account.

“You shot me,” she claims against Lanez “And you got your publicist and your people going to these blogs lying and sh*t. Stop lying. Why lie? I don’t understand.” At the time of the incident, Lanez was arrested and charged with possession of a concealed weapon but has not faced charges for the alleged shooting. Lanez has also not yet commented on the allegations made by Megan Thee Stallion.

The Los Angeles District Attorney has stated that the investigation is ongoing regarding the scene last month. A traffic stop was conducted by the police, where Megan sustained her injuries. She later was taken to a local hospital, where she claims she had surgery to remove the bullets from her feet.

Reports initially surfaced that Megan’s injuries stemmed from broken glass, but she explained in her Instagram Live video that she was fearful of telling the police what really happened due to all the situations of police brutality in past months. “You think I’m about to tell police that we … us, Black people, got a gun in the car?” she said. “You want me to tell the law that we got a gun in the car so that they can shoot all of us up.”

Celebrities such as Halle Berry and Michael Jordan have come out in support of Megan Thee Stallion speaking up. The situation continues to develop.

Hotboii – Don’t Need Time (Remix) × Lil Baby

Fast-rising Orlando rapper Hotboii has joined forces with Lil Baby for an emotionally charged new song and video “Don’t Need Time (Remix).” Stream/download the single HERE.
A potent update of a standout track from Hotboii’s Kut da Fan On, “Don’t Need Time (Remix)” spotlights the 19-year-old artist’s deeply expressive delivery, incredible melodic skills, and uncompromising storytelling. With its steady beat and somber piano, the song’s heavy-hearted mood is amplified by guest verse from Lil Baby. The Grammy Award-nominated, platinum-selling rapper also co-stars alongside Hotboii in the video for “Don’t Need Time (Remix)” — a tremendously moving visual that finds Hotboii sitting graveside as he speaks the raw truth on pain and loss.

Check out the video for “Don’t Need Time (Remix)” by Hotboii ft. Lil Baby HERE.

Hailing from West Orlando, Hotboii is one of the most exciting new rappers to emerge from his hometown’s scene. After getting his start at age 15, he discovered a natural musical talent and soon began using his songs as an emotional outlet. Then, after being held back by jail time, once released, Hotboii felt an overwhelming drive to establish himself as an industry heavyweight and lay the groundwork for a long-lasting career. Earlier this year, he achieved breakout success with his full-length debut Kut da Fan On — a powerhouse 17-track album that accumulated millions of streams within the first month of its release. Arriving in May, Kut da Fan On features hit tracks like “Goat Talk” (now at over 4.2 million streams in the U.S.).

Farmworkers to Receive Hispanic Heritage Heroes Award

The Hispanic Heritage Foundation (HHF) announced today that farmworkers across the country will be recognized with the Heroes Award during the 33rd Hispanic Heritage Awards, presented by Target, on the October 6th broadcast on PBS stations and stream on PBS.org. Farmworkers will be honored alongside Puerto Rican Musical Artist and Social Activist, Bad Bunny, who will receive the Vision Award. Announcements of other 2020 Honorees, performers, and host over the coming month. Sponsorship opportunities are still available.

“It is with tremendous gratitude, pride, and admiration that we honor farmworkers with the Heroes Award this year,” said Antonio Tijerino, president and CEO of the Hispanic Heritage Foundation. “Every single time we take a bite of food, we should think about the importance of our farmworkers in our lives, especially during the COVID-19 crisis as they put themselves and their families at risk to nobly nourish our families. Their service is nothing short of heroic.”

ABOUT THE FARMWORKERS

There are 2-3 million farmworkers who put themselves at risk everyday. They pick, pack and plant the fruits and vegetables that families across America are depending on amid the pandemic. Not only do farmworkers labor shoulder-to-shoulder with each other, they also can inhale pesticides or field dust. This can trigger asthma attacks and other serious respiratory problems– which puts them at a greater risk during the pandemic.

The federal government has deemed farmworkers as essential workers during this time of crisis. Advocates have raised many concerns about the threat to farmworker health. This is because of the already poor working and living conditions that exist for farmworkers across our nation. Farmworkers earn poverty wages and many are living in overcrowded housing. In addition, they often do not have required soap and water in the fields in order to wash their hands. Yet they continue to work on behalf of American families and businesses.

“Farmworkers have always been at risk of illness and harm, but that risk has increased exponentially with COVID-19,” said Mónica Ramírez, President of Justice for Migrant Women and one of last year’s Hispanic Heritage Award Honorees for Leadership who is helping to produce the farmworkers’ Awards segment. “Their work conditions make it nearly impossible for farmworkers to be able to abide by the social distancing, handwashing and other requirements that health care professionals say are necessary to prevent the transmission of the illness. Farmworkers deserve this prestigious recognition along with respect and appreciation for feeding us every day.”

HOW THE HISPANIC HERITAGE FOUNDATION IS HELPING

Earlier during the pandemic, Ramirez’ and Tijerino’s organizations teamed up with Fashion-Designer Mario De La Torre and Actor Nicholas Gonzalez. They teamed up to create the #Masks4Farmworkers project. This has provided more than 1.2 million protective masks for farmworkers across the country.

The Hispanic Heritage Awards were created by the White House in 1987 to commemorate the establishment of Hispanic Heritage Month in America and is among the highest honors by Latinos for Latinos and supported by 40 national Hispanic-serving institutions. Click HERE.

In keeping with current COVID-19 mitigation guidance and with the safety of participants in mind as well as the increased impact the pandemic has had on communities of color, the Hispanic Heritage Awards and PBS broadcast will not include a live ceremony but will feature more intimately filmed performances and Honoree segments filmed on location across the United States and Latin America.

ABOUT THE HISPANIC HERITAGE FOUNDATION

The Hispanic Heritage awards serve as a launch of HHF’s year-round, innovative, high-impact, actionable programs focused on education, workforce, leadership and culture. HHF is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.

Music Video for Robert Grace – Fake Fine

Irish-pop newcomer Robert Grace releases the video to his hit single “Fake Fine” via Sony Music Germany/RCA Records. Watch HERE. “Fake Fine” was released last month and marked Robert’s first release with Sony Music Germany/RCA Records.

In the video to “Fake Fine”, Robert Grace sarcastically talks about the inner and outer disguises we put on for self-protection. Including real life facemasks, a minimum distance, and the will to once again be yourself. Nathan Barlow directed this video.

Robert says, “The idea behind this music video was to shed some more light on mental health. To show in a slightly light hearted way that there really is no quick fix for depression or anxiety. Happiness isn’t easy for everyone (especially at the moment!) and I don’t think enough people realize that!“

ABOUT “FAKE FINE”

The songwriter, musician, and producer from Graignamanagh, Kilkenny covers a topic relevant to this day and age. “The song is about acting like you’re fine when really you’re not,” Robert says, explaining the story behind “Fake Fine”. “When it’s all just pretending, the situation itself might not even be that bad. But, for some reason, something just isn’t right and you try to find out why that is.” Grace discusses the somewhat hazy feeling of being beside oneself. It’s finding yourself in the wrong movie, which ends up being about yourself, and hiding behind a mask in order to not reveal your true feelings. The irony of course being that masks play an especially important role these days – a fact that marvelously aligns with Robert’s clip to “Fake Fine”, in which he moves somewhere between sheer sarcasm, black humor, and the bittersweet hope for a better life.

The track entered the Spotify viral charts at #2 in his home country Ireland, #14 on the Shazam charts, and conquered the top 40 Irish airplay charts. And also over here it’s only a matter of time until “Fake Fine” will find its way into the hearts and ears of listeners!

ACHEIVEMENTS

His previous single “Be Your Friend” made it into the New Music Friday playlist on Spotify UK, was on rotation on Irish radio, and became track of the week on 2FMs Breakfast Show. While still in the process of being written, “Fake Fine” already reached over 700,000 views on TikTok and within only seven weeks, over 160,000 followers subscribed to him. Robert Grace has developed into a highly sought-after songwriter who has written tracks with Dan McDougall (The Wanted, The Shires), Blair MacKichan (Paloma Faith/Sia/Lily Allen) and Josh Wilkinson (One Direction/5 Seconds of Summer). The track before that, “Moving Fast”, was track of the week on 2FM and his song “The Good Place” made it into the influential Easy-Playlist on Spotify. The singer/songwriter from Kilkenny has also performed at Ireland’s biggest festivals, including “Electric Picnic” and “Independence.” Also, he has written songs with some of UK’s most reputable songwriters.

Celeste – Little Runaway

Celeste, a soul singer from the UK and winner of BBC Sound of 2020, released a new single titled “Little Runaway.”

The song, which premiered as the Hottest Record on BBC Radio, is accompanied by a music video directed by Sophie Jones, who has worked with Celeste before.

Celeste said the song is about losing faith and seeking answers outside this world.

“My favourite line in the song is ‘good news I could use some.’ I believe everyone has a guardian angel, a protector, and this is me talking to mine,” she said.

The video for the piano-based song gives viewers something of a fisheye view. We’re looking up at everything that transpires throughout the video, sort of like how Celeste is looking up for answers.

Between the piano and Celeste’s all-powerful vocals, this song really captures the feeling of being down and out. Anyone whose problems have fallen on deaf ears or has sought answers to no avail will have no trouble relating to this track.

This song follows her previous single “I Can See The Change,” which was produced by FINNEAS, brother of Billie Eilish and star in his own right.

“Celeste is gonna go down as one of the greats. It was a thrill to produce this song for her,” he said in an Instagram post promoting “I Can See The Change.”

Labrinth Performs Songs From ‘Euphoria’

For the first time since his Emmy nominations, Labrinth performed songs from the score and soundtrack of the hit HBO series “Euphoria.”

Presented by HBO themselves, fans of the show were treated to “forever,” “still don’t know my name,” “when I r.i.p.” and “all for us.”

Including Labrinth’s for Outstanding Music Composition for a Series and Outstanding Original Music and Lyrics, “Euphoria” racked up six nominations. In her most adult-friendly role to date, Zendaya picked up a nomination for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series, and we can probably all guess which scene we’ll see when her name is announced as a nominee.

This video is proof that “Euphoria” isn’t leaving gorgeous colors and cinematography behind after the first season. It comes complete with everything but Labrinth wearing “Euphoria” makeup. Rich blues, purples and pinks set us up to be completely lost in the performance the way we were lost in the show.

HBO renewed “Euphoria” for a second season before the first season even ended, but because of production delays, we don’t have a release date yet.

Lovers of the show can still tune in to the 72nd Primetime Emmys on Sept. 20 to cheer for Zendaya, Labrinth and all of the other talented artists and creators responsible for “Euphoria.”

To see the entire performance, you can click right here. You can find “Euphoria” streaming now on HBO Max, and you can listen to the score right here.

Disclosure – The Energy Minecraft Experience

With clubs closed for the foreseeable future and live music on pause, Disclosure continue to find new ways to connect with their fans. They’ve live-streamed from Guy’s house during their popular Kitchen Mix parties, hosted tutorials on Twitch, and partnered with Cercle to DJ from a cliff in Croatia, but on the release day of their ecstatic new album ENERGY, they’re inviting friends and fans to experience something even more unique. With the help of design collective Blockworks alongside Island Records, they’ve created an immersive meta-verse within Minecraft inspired by the vibrant world of their new record. Minecraft is one of the world’s most successful computer games with 126 million monthly active players. View the trailer for Disclosure’s ‘ENERGY Minecraft Experience HERE.

On ENERGY’s release date, August 28, fans can join Disclosure’s dedicated server in the video game and discover a square mile of rolling hills, roiling streams, and dark caverns, all of which come together in a stunning mosaic to replicate ENERGY’s earthy cover art. Deep in the caves under the land’s surface are three (literally) underground clubs inspired by iconic venues around the world, plus Guy Lawrence’s kitchen as seen in previous live streams. As players explore the realm made up of over 100 million blocks, they’ll have a chance to do some digital crate-digging, hunting for 13 hidden records including 8-bit reworks of some of the duo’s most-loved tracks.

The server will be live for a week, after which a version of the Minecraft map will be available for download. During that week, the land will evolve and change—a feature meant to echo the themes found on ENERGY, which deals in part with environmental concerns like reforestation and ocean repopulation. Like the record—which features hip-house ragers like the Aminé and slowthai-featuring “My High” alongside sunnier, uplifting cuts like “Douha (Mali Mali)”—the Disclosure Minecraft server is meant to be diverse and full of life. Never static, never simple.

In addition to scattering hidden songs around the map, Disclosure will also soundtrack the experience with a megamix featuring material from ENERGY and classics from across their catalog, offering fans a truly immersive way to experience this new chapter in their career.

A decade on from their debut single, Guy and Howard Lawrence are still finding new ways to fill their delightful dance tracks with euphoric new energies. Whether it’s through working with a vivid array of collaborators like Mick Jenkins, Channel Tres, Kehlani, and Kelis (all of whom appear on ENERGYamong many others), or pushing the boundaries of their textured productions, they’re constantly evolving, which is a huge part of what’s made them exciting to critics and fans alike. Even as much of the real world remains stuck inside, Disclosure are continuing to offer what they have since the very beginning: new worlds to explore.
