Introducing Musician Steven Moses

Introducing Steven Moses’ debut single “Lose It” which merges 2000’s pop punk and emo rap, out on June 26

“Steven Moses is one of the most important artists of our generation.”

“There never seems to be a dull point where the music isn’t coming directly from Moses’ heart.”

“Moses is able to thrive by channeling his real life struggles and put it all in the music.”

Steven Moses always felt like an outsider. The 20-year-old rapper from Blair County, Pennsylvania remembers his small-town, middle-American upbringing as both liberating and confining. At home, where he and his sister were homeschooled for most of their lives, Moses was encouraged to explore an early interest in music. He picked up his first guitar at age 7, and remembers practicing for 8 – 10 hours a day until he was a teen. Moses taught himself to play multiple instruments throughout his childhood, learning piano, bass, drums, and dabbling in mandolin, and ukulele.

Outside of his home, he and other kids his age were pressured to fit into boxes and conform. “You have to do what everybody else does and be like everybody else otherwise you get made fun of,” Moses says about his hometown of Hollidaysburg. “Everyone played sports or skateboarded and smoked weed and did drugs. You were either an athlete or a really nerdy kid or an outcast, and I was one of the latter. I’ve always been like this.”

Before finding his way to rap as a teen, Steven Moses was inspired by punk rock. When he started a cover band with his sister and cousins, he looked to Ramones, Dead Kennedys and The Sex Pistols as major influences. The band played local bars and stages, with Moses on guitar and backing vocals. Soon, he began writing his own songs, and when he was 14 years old, he heard Nas’ Illmatic—an album that set him on a path to meld the two musical worlds he was most passionate about: rock and rap. His quintessential sound is exemplified on “Love Me”, the brooding, guitar-laden single that put Moses on the map in 2018.

Bad relationships, drugs and money problems fuel the stories that power Moses’ lyricism on his 2018 debut, Love Me // Leave Me. In a world full of toxicity where teens grapple with inner demons, Moses’ pained vocals and rhymes land with a spiritual touch against an aesthetic backdrop similar to that of Larry Clark and Harmony Korine’s KIDS. Nevertheless, Moses is his God given name and his life isn’t a movie. His stories are real.

Moses’ candor and honest depiction of reality is what has drawn a growing legion of fans to connect with his songs. “I feel like I have to go through a day or a week of life and experience to write,” Moses says about his process. “Maybe there’s somebody you wanna say something to but you couldn’t actually say it to them in those words, so you can put it in a song,” he explains. “[Someone] could not have the same thing going on, like it’s something completely different, but because everybody has a similar set of emotions and field of emotions, they can relate to whatever they’re thinking [my song] is about.”

As an artist beginning to recognize the influence he has on his listeners, Moses is determined to make the most of his legacy at a time when music about the darker sides of life is especially appealing to young fans. “I was really sad and I was just singing and rapping about being fucking sad,” he admits. His forthcoming album, ‘99’, is an exercise in building the bridge between a past filled with drug use, promiscuity, depression and nihilism, and a more optimistic and positive future.

With his Going Nowhere Fast collective, a group he formed with his friends around their creative talents and collaborative potential, Steven Moses wants to build a sustainable future for his friends as well. “What would have happened if Kurt Cobain could have been Bob Dylan’s age? I think about that and I’m like, I can’t be another one of those,” he asserts. “I want to be around to watch this shit happen. I’m going to be around to watch this shit happen.”

Sarcastic Sounds – “Laugh”

Today, 20-year-old producer/singer Sarcastic Sounds has shared his new song “Laugh.” Listen HERE.

The melancholic track is another canon in Sarcastic Sounds’ arsenal of lo-fi hits and is a rare showcase of his own vocals.

In speaking about “Laugh,” Sarcastic Sounds says: “This is a song I wrote in December while I was in LA. I was doing really long, shitty sessions most days, and recorded this little by little when I would get home to the various Airbnbs I was staying at. It’s kinda my usual melancholic breakup vibe, which is basically just my permanent mood. It’s more depressing than it is nostalgic though, and it has a lot more lyrics than usual because it’s me singing.”

Hailing from Toronto, Sarcastic Sounds has a very diverse musical direction that blends lo-fi, hip-hop, alternative, and pop. He has cemented himself as a staple in the lo-fi music scene with over 200M streams and previous hits such as “I Don’t Sleep” and “it’s OK to Cry.” In addition to his solo career, Sarcastic Sounds has carved his place as a young producer after garnering buzz from Battle of the Beat Makers and landing a producer credit on “Mahogany” from Lil Wayne’s album Funeral. He also produced and is featured on label-mate Powfu’s latest single “i’ll come back to you.”

Gümüşlük, Paradise on Earth

Gümüşlük is one of the most tranquil coves with its unmatched natural beauty on the Bodrum Peninsula –the holiday hotspot of the Aegean– as it brings a great historical treasure together with sea, sand, sun, and exquisite flavors.

The history of Gümüşlük, which welcomes its guests with its windmills today, can be traced back to the ancient Lelege ancient city of Myndos dating back to three millennia ago, founded by the Carian King Mausolos, after whom the city came under the rule of many civilizations led by great personalities that shaped the world history including Alexander the Great, Aristonicus, Antonius, Brutus and Cassius.

Poetic Greek houses in the old Karakaya Village on the foothills, the magnificent view of Koyunbaba, which offers breathtaking views of the islands, the unparalleled natural beauty of Yalı and the Rabbit Island in the Gümüşlük Cove, which is accessible through the historical King’s Road, make it one of the most special locations on the Bodrum Peninsula, hosting the finest fish restaurants, festivals, world-renowned concerts, and art exhibitions. Gümüşlük is also the best destination for boats and yachts thanks to its natural harbor and spectacular sea.

An area to explore with its historical texture

Founded as a settlement in 640 B.C. in where modern Gümüşlük is located by one of the oldest civilizations in Anatolia, the Leleges, Myndos’ name meant “worship of the mother goddess.” Designated an archaeological protected site in 1975 following the recovery of numerous historical artifacts from that period during the archaeological excavations conducted on the Bozdağ hills and the Rabbit Island, the speculation on the origins of the modern name of Gümüşlük boils down to two stories. According to the first one, the region was home to silver mines in ancient times, which gave the town its name. A second story purports that the town received the name Gümüşlük because of the silvery color the sea takes during sunset…

Gümüşlük is famous for the historical Greek Houses in the Old Karakaya Village on the foothills, the glorious view of the Koyunbaba Islands, and its historical 150m-long, 1.5m-wide King’s Road. What makes Gümüşlük the most special point on the Bodrum Peninsula is the unmatched nature of Yalı and the Rabbit Island, which becomes accessible once the 3,500-year-old, submerged ancient King’s Road, which connects Gümüşlük to the Rabbit Island, reveals itself when the sea recedes and grants access to the island.

As soon as you set foot in Gümüşlük, you will be greeted by stands featuring handmade ceramics and glassware and jewelry and souvenirs made by artisans, stalls that sell lamps made from calabash, which is endemic to the Gümüşlük region and stores offering amazing desserts. Just take a few steps and you will find yourself on the path towards the bars where you can dine and wine before and after you take a dip in the water. Since this is a coastal town, finding an indoor venue here is almost impossible. At the café beaches extending along the shore, you can have a swim during the day, and a delicious meal and great time at the venues that transform into restaurants and bars in the evening. The International Gümüşlük Classical Music Festival, which is well-known in the world of classical music, is very popular among music lovers as an event that brings together successful artists from all around the globe in summer. In addition to the classical music festival, the 400-year-old Eklisia Church is also home to concerts by various artists.

A favorite among gastronomy lovers

Cafés and restaurants along the Gümüşlük coastline welcome their guests with an array of fabulous dishes, particularly during summer. In Bodrum, when it comes to watching the sunset, Gümüşlük is the first place to spring to mind particularly when it is accompanied by delicious mezes and fish. At night, Gümüşlük is the address of romanticism and peace with illuminations under the sea, renowned for its atmosphere and the unique flavors of the Aegean cuisine and famous fish restaurants. Those who visit Gümüşlük must not leave this small and romantic cove before they try kabak çiçeği dolması (stuffed zucchini blossoms), turp otu salatası (wild radish salad), acı ot kavurması (roasted inula), şevketi bostan yahnisi (blessed thistle stew), and kırlı patlıcan kızartması (fried eggplants).

Gümüşlük is known for its venues that offer not only evening feasts but also rich breakfasts where you can take your time to enjoy in an easy summer morning. Breakfast tables in sitting areas surrounded by green spaces against an endless seascape and in a fresh atmosphere are adorned by citrus jam, clotted cream of fresh goat milk, and a host of delicious cheese varieties, making it even harder for visitors to leave Gümüşlük. At the venues set in orchards of lemon and satsuma trees, you can taste tangerine and orange jam, delicious ice creams made from fresh goat milk, and apple cookies.

A holiday destination that offers peace

Gümüşlük secures a tranquil holiday experience with small boutique hotels, apart hotels and bed & breakfasts. It is also a proper location for those who are into camping, offering a variety of opportunities. Visited by everyone young and old, the cove welcomes in summers those who are into extreme sports such as watersport activities and particularly windsurfing. And if you enjoy boat tours, you can experience a vacation accompanied by the peaceful sound of waves by sailing against the immense seascapes of the Aegean Sea in its hidden coves.

On the track, the DMV wordsmith floats from airy verses towards a hypnotic hook uplifted by his elastic rhymes. Over ethereal production from CPSL0CK [Nafets] and Supah Mario [Drake, Young Thug], he offers pearls of wisdom by affirming, “The best advice I got is to love. The best that I can give is to love. All that I can do is love. With all that I been through, I still love.” It serves up an empowering and important statement appropriate for the times. Chaz says, “This moment in time is one of the darkest times in modern history, but at the same time it’s filled with so much hope for change. 360 Magazine, Retrocausality

“Retrocausality” Review

By Jason Tayer

“Retrocausality” captivates the attention of any viewer right in the beginning. The narrator first explains and compares the definitions of causality and retrocausality and hints that the film will address a plot based on effects preceding causes. Since the film was released right before the mass global spread of COVID-19, this timing paves way for a powerful and unique message. The use of silence and heavy narration in the beginning portion of the film allows for mystery about the characters and what the story will actually be about. Also, this tactic makes room for the viewer to pick up on the characters’ non-verbal cues, in order to get to know them in a distinctive, unconventional manner.

Throughout the whole film, there are significant jumps in time, which both add to the general notion of retrocausality and a distorted notion of time itself, as well as the development of Scott’s character and how he may not be so different as an adult versus a child. In a sense, the control of the story is given to the narrator, where he directs the film’s positioning of time and the various causes and effects the characters experience. Adding to this particular narration style, the relatively calm, yet melancholy repetition of instrumental music throughout the film supports the tranquil, perplexing mood of the story itself.

The directors’ choice to go in and out of audio from the dialogue between Scott and Max further symbolizes the missing pieces in their heads with regards to personal connection and psychological stability. As the story progresses, it also stands still while Max and Scott’s interactions fluctuate from reality to fiction. However, the story of his Mom’s illness does progress.

Finally, the film leaves the audience with overall messages that each individual carries their own strengths and weaknesses in every point in his or her life and that one action can lead to a series of life events, but it’s not always that simple.

Lil Mosey – Back At It

Lil Mosey (Mogul Vision/Interscope Records) is “Back at it” with Lil Baby as they team up for a blazing new single just in time for summer. Produced by Bankroll Got It, Diego Ave and Zay Garçon the up-tempo track holds its own as the duo reminds fans of their undeniable grind and subsequent luxuries. The song provides a timely soundtrack just as many are easing their way back into some sense of normalcy during the current pandemic.

Listen to “Back At It” HERE.

The release comes as the Seattle native is still reeling from the success of his RIAA Certified Platinum hit  song “Blueberry Faygo” which is currently #1 at Rhythmic Radio and #11 on the Billboard Hot 100 (US). The massive record has amassed over 850M global audio streams, while the Cole-Bennett directed video has topped 97M. The song was the center of much attention after its initial leak became an internet sensation in late 2019. The success has been noted by major outlets including Rolling Stone, Billboard and Forbes.

The buzz adds even further credibility to the title of Lil Mosey’s latest album Certified Hitmaker released in November 2019. The project peaked at #12 on the Billboard 200 and featured appearances by Gunna, AJ Tracey, and Trippie Redd. It also spawned the Certified Hitmaker World Tour. Lil Mosey’s first project, Northsbest was released in 2018 and launched a duly titled tour and inaugural festival. The record featured the platinum hit “Noticed,” helping to establish Lil Mosey as a force to be reckoned with.

Grandson Launches “Identity”

Fueled By Ramen recording artist Grandson has shared his powerful new single “Identity,” which is available today on all streaming platforms. “Identity” is the first step down a dark rabbit hole from the mind of Grandson, where a boy born into a world of conformity and obedience must confront and destroy his own demons in order to destroy the system he lives in from within. The accompanying official music video, directed by Karl Jungquist, brings the audience face-to-face with the voices both inside themselves and in society, recalling iconic dual personalities in music like slim shady and blurryface, while providing commentary on blood spilled on the way to change that is all too relevant in these times.

Grandson is currently in the studio finishing up work on his debut album which is expected to arrive later this year. For news and more information on grandson visit HERE. Grandson detailed “Identity” stating, “This is the first chapter in the story of how I became grandson, the personification of the demons I’ve struggled within my own head as I found my voice, and the very real fear every idealist has that all their effort will be for nothing.” “Identity” follows grandson’s a modern tragedy EP trilogy, and marks his first new music since the launch of the XXwhy acoustic campaign.

Beginning this past February, Grandson has released a series of collaborations, with each performance joined by an XXwhy podcast episode aimed at creating discourse between creatives working in music and activism. The podcast, hosted by grandson and recorded at idobi Radio, features acoustic performances of the collaborative tracks and discussions with the collaborators, activists, and more. Collaborators and guests thus far include K. Flay, Dreamers, Phem, Zero 9:36, and more. As part of the XXwhy campaign, grandson partnered with Headcount and Gibson Guitars, focusing in on voter registration for the upcoming election. Each XXwhy track released is accompanied by “Text Voter XX to 40649” in the title. Fans who text the number will be registered to receive updates about voter registration in their area and can join the “me +3” initiative which helps voters’ friends to register as well. Upon texting the number, participants are also entered to win a signed Epiphone guitar by grandson and the featured artist for that month’s track. For further information on upcoming XXwhy releases and podcasts, visit HERE.

The politically focused campaign launched on the heels of grandson’s collaboration with Whethan – “All In My Head” – and his joint track with Moby Rich, “Happy Pill,” which serves as an exploration into the dangers of addiction. “Happy Pill” is joined by a Joe Cappa directed music video, which is streaming now on grandson’s official YouTube channel. This past September, grandson released the third installment of his “modern tragedy” EP series, a modern tragedy vol. 3. The EP is available now on all streaming platforms, along with the Seth Stern directed music video for lead single “Rock Bottom.” 2019’s a modern tragedy vol. 2, is highlighted by the lead single “Apologize,” which was Broken Down for a stripped-back acoustic version and remixed by Hidden Citizens.

A modern tragedy vol. 2 follows grandson’s Fueled By Ramen debut EP, a modern tragedy vol. 1, and is an exploration into the heart, into addiction, into power, into disillusionment, and into accepting who you are and not compromising. Marking some of his most personal work to date, a modern tragedy vol. 2 touches on the environment around grandson and serves as a commentary on gun violence, on apathy and sensationalized media, on truth and martyrdom. a modern tragedy vol. 1, released in 2018, finds grandson confronting some of the most pressing political and social issues impacting his generation, provoking discourse through a powerful union of art and activism. The five-song EP is highlighted by the RIAA gold-certified single, “Blood // Water.” The track’s official music video – directed by Ride or Cry – is streaming now via the official Fueled By Ramen YouTube channel. Furthermore, the EP saw grandson make his network television debut with a performance of “Blood // Water” on NBC’s Late Night with Seth Meyers.
