Notorious BigKlit

‘The epitome of an angry bird’ – 360

Provocative rap sensation BigKlit has announced a special new edition of her infamous 2019 LP, KLITORIUS B.I.G. The album – which includes a number of previously deleted tracks – is available today via ROT$ WORLDWIDE/RECORDS/The Orchard. KLITORIUS B.I.G. features the return of such long-unavailable fan favorites as “FaceFuk,” available now at all DSPs; the track is joined by a companion video, premiering exclusively via YouTube.

WATCH “FACEFUK”

With its snarling vocal delivery, intense production, and wildly audacious lyrics, KLITORIUS B.I.G. marks one of the first highlights of what has proven a truly incendiary run from BigKlit. The project was recorded soon after her arrival in New York City, informed by grit, heart, and an insatiable hunger to create something altogether original and her own.

BigKlit will celebrate the return of KLITORIUS B.I.G. with a livestream release party tonight, June 26, at 8 pm ET. Presented by Brooklyn’s BABY TV, tickets for the event are available on a sliding scale HERE; ticket holders will receive a link and password 30 minutes before the start of the show. Fans purchasing tickets in the 30 minutes leading up to the performance will receive their info in their order confirmation email.

BigKlit made an auspicious debut with last year’s BIG KLITOIRUS EP, followed quickly by the full-length projects. The NYC-based artist quickly caused a worldwide sensation with her breakthrough hit, “Liar.” With its brazenly explicit lyrics and brutal, relentless beats, the track proved one of 2019’s most provocative hits, first blowing up on TikTok before ascending to multiple streaming charts around the world, reaching #1 on the US Viral 50 on two separate occasions. “Liar“ is joined by an age-restricted companion video streaming now via YouTube.

2020 kicked off with the premiere of PSYCHOSIS, a remarkable 30-minute short film directed by @pgdm. “PSYCHOSIS is a dark and dreary fever dream with apocalypse-level anxiety steady throughout,” raved PAPER. “Every song featured in the film hits listeners’ ears like a hallucinogen — they can be deeply disturbing, comforting (‘Beautiful’), or both at once…It’s the type of digi-gothic, post-genre art-making that BigKlit has come to be known for, and her fans are going absolutely nuts over it.”

Last month saw BigKlit teaming up with Universal Music Group/Caroline Distribution recording artist Trippie Redd on a new version of “Beautiful. The track arrived alongside a haunting music video and companion short film, hailed by PAPER as “a work of art that’s unpredictable at every turn…complete with everything you’d likely see in a twisted thriller: lightning, murder, out-of-body experiences and drugs, all with romantic yet eerie songwriting aimed at a subject unaware of their own beauty.” Audiofemme further praised the video and short film, noting that “Beautiful” “embodies the song’s duality with a macabre love story and BDSM imagery. It’s fitting, because shifting the balance of power has been her trademark as a woman in male-dominated rap. By blurring the edges of asserting control or losing it totally, BigKlit remains a provocative artist worth keeping an eye on.”

This spring also saw the premiere of another propulsive single, “Boy Bye.” The rocket-fueled track is accompanied by a spectacular intergalactic sex domination romp of a video.

Jayla Darden – “Demonstration”

EMERGING R&B SINGER-SONGWRITER/PRODUCER JAYLA DARDEN RETURNS WITH “DEMONSTRATION”

With a beat inspired by the works of Timbaland and Missy Elliot, this song is about needing action over words and promises. “Demonstration” which was written, produced and engineered by Jayla herself will be the first of many glimpses into Jayla’s Quarantine Creations.

This single will be released with a visualizer and will continue to feed the marketplace and establish her as an artist. The 21-year-old singer, songwriter, producer, and engineer is bold on the soulful track as she reclaims her love and needs in a partner. With a sound all her own, Jayla’s R&B language is a combination of today’s alternative soul with an aura of 2000s R&B.

Listen to it HERE

Lyrics like “Lately my interest is fading/ separate locations / I’m losing
patience,” are worthy of an IG caption and remind us what’s to come
from the rising singer-songwriter.

Raised in Detroit, Michigan, Jayla blended her love for music with the wonders of technology to teach herself programs like Ableton, GarageBans and ProTools but also master instruments like the guitar and keyboard.

A musical diet of gospel and contemporary jazz, vocalists like Destiny’s Child, Aaliyah, Brandy, Jhene Aiko, Frank Ocean, and beat smiths like J. Cole, Missy Elliott and Key Wane, helped shape Jayla’s understanding of her sound: heavy drums, soft melodies, and a positive slant on love and everyday life.

Since 2015, Jayla has built up a SoundCloud fanbase with short releases—including her cover of Drake’s “Jaded” which garnered 350,000 streams. She’s also found fans in the form of music startup Soulection and Grammy-winning artist H.E.R. In May, Jayla joined H.E.R. for her ‘Girls With Guitars Series’ on Instagram to sing her single “On To Something” and a beautiful cover of Aaliyah’s “I Don’t Wanna.” You can watch Jayla’s next performance at The 13th Annual Roots Picnic Virtual Event in partnership with Michelle Obama on Saturday, June 27th.

“Demonstration” comes after the release of her sultry EP Onto Something, which dropped in late 2019 with fan favorites like “Be Your Girl” and the title track, “Onto Something”.

Donna Missal – “How Does It Feel”

Today, Donna Missal shared “How Does It Feel,” the soaring slice of luscious shoegaze that opens her new album, Lighter, which will be released on July 10 via Harvest Records. Download/stream “How Does It Feel” HERE and listen on YouTube HERE.

Donna – who has amassed over 33 million global streams in her career to date – wrote the track with Andrew Wells (X Ambassadors, Bebe Rexha, Fitz and the Tantrums), who produced the album, and Anthony Rossomando, whose credits include co-writing the Oscar-winning song “Shallow.”

“I hope this song finds the cracks in your heart and fills them with light,” says Donna Missal. “I hope this song can turn your disconsolateness into aspiration, and wrap its arms around you the way I wish I could right now. I hope this song meets your unrest with a challenge to desire and believe in dreaming for more.”

Lighter is an album about fragility, self-acceptance and self-discovery. It’s a timeless work from an artist who’s not playing by anyone else’s rules. Fans who pre-order the album in digital format will instantly receive “How Does It Feel” plus the singles “Let You Let Me Down” and “Hurt By You.”

“Donna Missal is a powerhouse vocalist” declared Flaunt in this recent feature article. MTV News observed, “‘Let You Let Me Down’ [is] a rock-infused breakup ballad…Her smoky vocals simmer to a satisfying crescendo in the final refrain.” The Honey Pop noted, “[Donna] can pull you through various emotions just with her voice, and ‘Let You Let Me Down’ is a prime example of her talent. It’s got powerful, poetic lyrics… a self-realization anthem.” “Hurt By You” was named as one of the “Best Songs Of The Spring” by Refinery29. NYLON noted, “This song was made for rolling the windows down and speeding on the backroads.” Praising Donna’s 2018 debut album, This Time (Harvest Records), Earmilk said, “A sound like this cannot be missed…we’re in full orbit around this star.”

Donna supported the album with a sold-out, 20-date U.S. headline tour. She has also played numerous festivals – including Austin City Limits and Bonnaroo – and toured with such artists as King Princess, Lewis Capaldi, Bishop Briggs, K.Flay, Joywave, Sir Sly, and Barns Courtney.

It shined a spotlight on the pair as they went into the release of their debut major-label album, Mirrorland. Day Lee Dodges – Bad Vibes

Rising out of New York’s Lower East Side with his effortless hooks, Day Lee releases a new single for “Bad Vibes” via Republic Records. The official lyric video will premiere on YouTube today at 6 pm ET.

On the single, “Bad Vibes,” his melodic Trap&B vocals remain as smooth as it gets. Centered around a “Nelly flip,” skittering cymbals and a simmering beat give way to magnetically melodic verses and a hypnotic hook, “I don’t want you round me with them bad vibes.”

The stop motion lyric video accented by colorful paint strokes and mixed media display Day Lee’s laid-back heartthrob aura. This video flaunts his creative background as a visual artist and illustrator.

We wrote songs about the way we view the world. The way we treat each other matters. We can be a positive light. Let’s not stress the small things. Let’s make our experience the best we can for ourselves and everyone around us.”

In celebration of the album’s release, Louis The Child dropped a brand-new line of merchandise. 100% of the proceeds from the merch store sales this week  (June 24 – July 1) will be donated to Chicago’s SaveMoneySaveLife Foundation. Since 2013, the Chicago-bred duo-Freddy Kennett and Robby Hauldren-have popped off as a phenomenon streamed upwards of 600 million times and endorsed by pop royalty such as Taylor Swift and Lorde. “Go” notably soundtracked an Apple iPad commercial in 2017, while their breakthrough “Better Not” with WAFIA earned a gold certification from the RIAA and powered the 2018 Kids At Play EP. Along the way, the boys packed hallowed venues such as Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Morrison, CO and New York’s Terminal 5 where they sold out a three-night stand. In addition, Louis The Child made explosive appearances at Coachella, Lollapalooza, Bonnaroo, Electric Forest, and beyond. Not to mention, they garnered acclaim from Billboard, Rolling Stone, People Magazine, Hypebeast, Dancing Astronaut, and more.  In 2020, they unveil their full-length debut the aptly titled Here For Now [Interscope] and continue to prove they are a musical force to be reckoned with.
