Ted When Releases New Song

Genre-defying artist Ted When is back with a new single.

Today, Motown/Blacksmith Recordings released “Eyes Closed,” a track from Ted When’s forthcoming EP. The song, which the former Mansions on the Moon frontman wrote with producer DJ Equal, offers a wistful look back at a previous relationship and the words that were left unsaid. The vibrant, dreamlike visualizer, which premiered earlier today on Wonderland, was created by Los Angeles-based artist Mishko.

Ted When says, “‘Eyes Closed’ is about unrequited love. That feeling of regret in never telling a person how you really feel and thinking about how things could’ve been different.” “Eyes Closed” follows Ted’s debut solo single, “Edge Off.” In this interview with THE FADER, he describes how his move to Nashville – and the ensuing sense of isolation – led him to write “Edge Off.” The Music Ninja praised the song as ‘remarkably relevant during the current global landscape.”

Industrial Disinfection During COVID-19

Unusual times lead to unusual challenges for companies, making new solutions necessary. Formel D, a global service provider to the automotive and component supply industry, is currently supporting its customers in disinfecting vehicle parts and vehicles, along the entire value chain, and is thereby guaranteeing comprehensive protection for production employees and for end customers.

Because of COVID-19, hygiene and disinfection are hot topics in all private and commercial sectors. This naturally also applies to work processes in the automotive industry. Vehicle parts supplied to production plants as well as vehicles transferred to end customers must be free of all contamination in order to prevent the possible infection of production employees and end customers.

Automotive manufacturers and vehicle fleet companies therefore require a rapid and flexible solution that is not only cost effective and professionally implemented, but also does not damage vehicles during the disinfection process.

Formel D addresses all of their customers’ needs and requirements to ensure protection against contamination with a trained team and modern sanitation equipment on their site. All processes are continuously monitored and extensively documented by Formel D by using VIN tracking tools. The entire sanitization process is carried out to the highest standards, without any physical contact of the vehicle surfaces.

Further information about the services of Formel D in this area can be found here.

Art for the Now

COVID-19 is ravaging the cultural field to an extent not seen since the AIDS crisis. It is forcing us to re-envision how we collaborate, to consider new types of programming and interactions that can flourish in digital space, and to shift our resources as we begin to reach the public differently.

Vera List Center has announced a new initiative, Art for the Now, intended to provide direct support to some of the most vulnerable in our communities; artists, freelancers, teachers, and students. Their goal is to raise $15,000 by June 1, and to make it possible, they are selling fine art prints commissioned from artists such as Dan Graham, Sarah Morris, Matt Mullican, Paul Ramírez Jonas, and Fred Wilson.

Their plan is a radical one: to significantly raise the scope of our honoraria, expanding whom we pay and how much. Starting now and running through the fall, for each online event we will offer both presenter fees and ten modest stipends for members of the public.

The prints are available here.

$750 will get you an artwork of your choice and the assurance that 100% of the income received by the VLC will be directly passed on to their online program participants.

If you prefer, you can donate an amount of your choosing here.

New COVID-19 Stroke Guidelines

Top stroke experts have issued new guidance to ensure stroke patients receive safe, timely care while preventing the transmission of COVID-19.

The guidelines urge the use of telemedicine to speed treatment and advise EMS crews how to determine the best facility to treat the patient’s needs. The recommendations, from the American Heart Association’s Stroke Council, come amid increasing concerns that stroke patients are delaying seeking care because of fear of COVID-19. Such delays can have catastrophic consequences, including death.

“Even during the COVID-19 pandemic, patients should continue to seek immediate care for life-threatening and emergency conditions, and call 911 for any new signs or symptoms of stroke,” said UVA Health stroke expert Andrew Southerland, MD, one of the guidelines’ authors. “As the only certified Comprehensive Stroke Center in Charlottesville and Central Virginia, UVA has the necessary resources to ensure both patient safety and provide the highest level of care for stroke patients. Seeking emergency care for a stroke can help save lives and reduce the risk of long-term neurologic injury and resulting disability.”

The Importance of Speedy Stroke Care

With strokes, every minute counts, and speedy care can be the difference between life and death. It can also prevent lifelong disability. For that reason, Southerland and other telemedicine experts at UVA have worked with local EMS personnel to pioneer the use of the technology for pre-hospital care. They’ve placed tablets inside ambulances to connect first responders with UVA stroke experts, allowing stroke care to begin even before the patient arrives at the hospital. The new guidelines suggest this approach should be used widely.

The COVID-19 pandemic, however, adds an extra layer of complexity for first responders. In addition to the need for appropriate personal protective equipment, EMS crews must assess whether each patient has the coronavirus, the new guidelines note.

When possible, EMS workers should screen patients using free tools available online, the guidelines recommend. Responders should have a protocol in place in case the screening is positive or if the patient is incapacitated and can’t be screened. The receiving hospital should be notified as well.

Stroke patients with COVID-19 are more likely to require a ventilator and intensive care, so emergency crews should consider taking patients to a hospital with the capacity to provide that level of care, the guidelines note. Emergency crews also may need to consider hospital capacity based on the number of cases in their region and they may want to bypass emergency rooms to lessen exposure risk.

“During the COVID-19 pandemic,” the guidelines state, “it is more important than ever to ensure that the patient is transferred to the right hospital the first time around.”

In all of this, communication between emergency crews and the receiving hospitals is key, the guide’s authors say.

“Now more than ever, during the COVID-19 pandemic, we need to work collaboratively and support our emergency medical services providers working day and night on the front lines for our community,” Southerland said. “To achieve this, we must optimize communication and pre-hospital care for patients. Nowhere is this more important than in rural networks like surrounding areas in Central Virginia.”

What are the best places to travel to on your own?

Travel is one of the best things that you can do to broaden your mind, experience new cultures, and have lots of fun. Many people, though, do not have friends to head off with, which makes traveling on your own a must. Before you go, you have to plan appropriately to get the most from any trip. If you chose to head to New Jersey on a break, it would be wise to look at sites, including the Tropicana Online Casino, so you had something fun to do in your hotel room during chill time. The same is true for other destinations within the USA or around the world. Looking at what the nightlife is like, what sights there are to see, and what there is to do in the day is sensible.

Of course, before you delve into the finer details of any resort or city, you need to pick the right place first. That is often a little trickier for solo travelers who have a slightly different set of priorities than those holidaying in a group. But which are the best destinations for solo travel around the world?

Cannes

Beautiful Cannes is in the South of France on the fabled Cote D’Azur. However, like most other destinations around the world, it has been hit by COVID-19 lockdown measures recently, Cannes plans to revive tourism soon. But what makes this place so great? First of all, the weather is superb during the summer months, and this makes it perfect for relaxing on the gorgeous beaches there while doing some people watching.

The café culture is also evident, so you will feel very comfortable when sipping a latte alone while watching the world go by. Cannes is also a very safe and welcoming destination, which makes it ideal for solo travelers. With a buzzing atmosphere and many other single travelers around, it is a fabulous place to holiday on your own.

Stockholm

If you fancy heading somewhere where Scandi cool is in full effect, Stockholm in Sweden is a reliable choice. Stockholm just has an air of laid-back charm that allows you to slow down and recharge your batteries. The city that you access via a series of bridges is spread across 14 islands, which makes it simple to get around.

It is also full of lovely parks and stunning architecture to marvel at while having plenty to keep you occupied. If you need help getting around, there is a fun guided Vespa Tour you can take. If you are a real foodie, there are numerous Michelin-starred restaurants around the city where you could dine alone in true style. With a friendly and cozy feel, this is a real gem for solo travel.

New York

You might not immediately think of New York as a solo travel hot-spot, but it is. With so much to do and so many people around, you never actually feel isolated. New Yorkers are famous for their particular charm, and this means you will always find a friendly face in cafés, bars, or shops. If you want a city that will also keep you busy, the Big Apple is it.

The shopping here is excellent (especially Fifth Avenue), and it gives you every chance to pick up cool souvenirs to bring home. Also, New York has many fabulous sights to see – from lovely Central Park to the Metropolitan Museum. If you fancy a change from dining and drinking each night, why not check out the best plays on Broadway?

Dominica

One surprising choice for any single traveler may be the Caribbean – after all, it is known as a honeymoon spot or a cruise destination. Dominica is a little different, though, and is somewhere that feels perfect for traveling alone. If you like an adventure when away, it is a great choice. The island has lakes to trek alongside and massive gorges to cave through. The wildlife here is naturally fantastic, and there is also some excellent accommodation for a reasonable price. You will always feel safe here, thanks to the welcoming local community, and it is an island that is very easy to walk around. With delicious local food and some charming bars to enjoy a shot of rum at, Dominica is a real hidden gem.

Solo travel spots are worth researching first

No doubt, checking out the best places to go alone before booking any trip is worthwhile. Doing so will ensure that you end up in a place where there is plenty to do, and that makes you feel comfortable being there as a single person. Hopefully the above has given you some fresh ideas on the most exciting places to try.

Kyle × Concerts In Your Car

June is all about graduations, but coronavirus restrictions have quashed most celebrations this year. Enter CBF Productions. The founders of crowd-pleasing favorites Boots & Brews Country Music Festival and the Winter Wine Walk have created a social distancing solution so that grads and their families can celebrate in style at the Ventura County Fairgrounds. Scheduled for June 26 & June 27, “Congrats to Grads!” will feature Ventura native Kyle, the popular rapper, singer, and songwriter, kicking off of the Concerts In Your Car series of live entertainment events.

Kyle, who just released two new songs from his upcoming new album; “YES! (feat. Rich The Kid and K Camp)” and “What It Is,” skyrocketed up the charts with his chart-topping, 6x-platinum breakout hit “iSpy.” Rolling Stone magazine named Kyle as “one of the ten artists you need to know” and his now Gold-certified debut album Light of Mine was released in 2017. The following year, Kyle made his acting debut, starring in the Netflix hip-hop comedy The After Party.

“Even with social distancing, we wanted to give people a way to get out, celebrate and have some fun!” said Vincenzo Giammanco, owner of CBF Productions. “Our team got creative and decided to develop a new type of experience that will bring excitement to the summer of 2020 despite the pandemic. We plan on producing events offering a range of entertainment more announcements will follow soon.”

The events will offer room for 500 cars per show and are designed to comply with all official restrictions. The combination of an extra high stage
and five oversized screens will ensure a good viewing experience for everyone.

In addition to performances by Kyle, the 75-minute program will include a visual light show, multi-media entertainment and a video saluting the attending graduates. Sound will be distributed via FM radio. Tickets are sold in advance and online only and are priced starting at $49 per car with up to 5 people per vehicle. A portion of the proceeds will benefit Food Share, Ventura County’s largest food bank.

While no food is available for purchase at the concert, attendees will be provided with a comprehensive list of downtown Ventura restaurants that feature curbside pickup. With the fairgrounds just three blocks from the Ventura downtown district where many beloved local restaurants are located, the concert will provide a much-needed boost to local eateries.

The concert celebrating 2020 grads is just the tip of the iceberg for CBF Productions. The company is currently in negotiation with various cities throughout California to produce a series of live concerts throughout the summer. Other themes being considered are Comedy, Country Music, Top 40 and a show specifically for kids.

More information on the event and to purchase tickets can be found here, and you can learn more about Kyle here.

Cannabis Trends During COVID-19

As people deal with COVID-19, how is cannabis use changing?

SōRSE Technology, a food science emulsification company pivotal to the cannabis and CBD edible supply chain, was created by a team of mindful, physically active people. They have rowers, skiers, cyclists, yoga enthusiasts and runners, all of whom are passionate about CBD and THC. The company understands these sports are easier to do when you are healthy, and being healthy means making wise choices about what you do to your body. They developed their emulsion to allow people to get CBD or THC into their system without inhaling, which is important for athletes, but also important when it comes to protecting your lungs- even more important now as we deal with COVID-19.

At SōRSE Technology, innovation means creating new platforms and new ways to incorporate products into beverages, food, or topicals. The company wants consumers to be aware of these platforms so that they know they have options when it comes to using cannabis. In terms of R&D, they are spending a lot of time researching trends and how consumers think about wellness. With this, they are also seeing a need to for an all-natural CBD emulsion which will be available very soon. Consumers are concerned about their health and immune systems and are looking at ingredients that can support a healthier lifestyle. SōRSE Technology wants customers to have a natural option if that is what they want for their food or beverage.

2020 started with new and exciting flavors; “exotic and accessible” was a trend in January and February. Yet when people feel uncomfortable or uncertain about the future, they have a tendency to circle back to the past and their positive memories, which makes them feel nostalgic. This will be reflected in consumers trying to recreate experiences from recent fond memories, from a wonderful vacation they took or a cocktail from their favorite restaurant – something that reminds them of a happy time when they were together with family or friends.

Because of COVID-19, almost everyone is going through a difficult time right now. We have higher stress levels, and we worry for our families, unemployment and the uncertainty of the future. SōRSE Technology knows that health, and specifically, respiratory health is very much on customers’ minds.

People were already looking for new ways to consume their cannabis that didn’t involve inhaling it. Consumers were also trending towards functional health beverages that placed emphasis on boosting the immune system, improving sleep, or reducing stress. COVID-19 has accelerated that trend and made people even more concerned about their health and well-being. This could explain why CBD sales have been strong the past two months. In states where it is medicinally and/or recreationally legal, THC sales are up as well, which could indicate that people are using it as a way to escape from the stress and anxiety the COVID is causing and bring themselves back to a more relaxed space.

In terms of working with partners and customers, SōRSE Technology sees that people are spending time at home innovating on new ideas. They have budding entrepreneurs reaching out who are interested in starting their own businesses, especially in the realm of e-commerce, and are using this time to reset their lives and reflect on what matters to them. The company’s job is to help customers go in the right direction, knowing that there are a lot of changes happening with the consumer mindset and consumer expectation. They are trying to stay on top of the changing trends so that they can help customers make the right decisions.
