OTR – Lost at Midnight

Ryan Chadwick – the 26-year old aerospace engineer-turned-producer behind OTR – shared a series of singles in the lead-up to the album’s release, including “Heart” feat. Shallou which topped the Sirius XM Chill chart and has amassed nearly 12 million cumulative streams, “Midnight Sun” (with Ukiyo) which was heard in the opening scene of the Netflix global hit film To All The Boys: P.S. I Still Love You, “Moon” (feat. Vancouver Sleep Clinic) “Stay” (with WYNNE), “Drive” (with Panama), and “Broken” (with Au/Ra)

Lost At Midnight offers a mesmerizing introduction to OTR’s emotionally potent electronic-pop. The album abounds in elegantly sculpted beats and unearthly synth tones, along with poignant piano melodies that cut right to the heart, demonstrating his natural sophistication as an arranger and composer. Lost At Midnight spotlights the singular sonic identity OTR first discovered during a life-changing stint in Japan.

IAITAM: Cybersecurity Risks for Companies

IAITAM: TOO MANY COMPANIES, AGENCIES WITH VULNERABILITIES “WIDE OPEN TO ATTACK”  FROM BREACHES DURING COVID-19 STAY-AT-HOME SHUTDOWNS

After Issuing Repeated Warnings, IAITAM Highlights 4 Biggest Problems Happening Now.

Today, the International Association of IT Asset Managers (IAITAM) is warning that breaches of corporate and government data appear to be running at a level even higher than experts had feared going into stay-at-home orders due to COVID-19.

Last month, IAITAM repeatedly warned of “nightmare data risks” for unprepared government agencies & companies, especially as end-of-the month billing procedures were being carried out remotely.

IAITAM President and CEO Dr. Barbara Rembiesa said: “We anticipated that things would get bad. Companies and agencies may be hoping and praying they are safe, but the work-from-home environment has created a multitude of opportunities for leaks. Too many organizations have left themselves wide open for attack. Understanding the pathways for access within a company’s data network is a valuable lens for businesses and agencies to avert leaking their own assets.”

Based on its preliminary analysis of early published reports, IAITAM is breaking down the biggest problems into four categories:

1. Assets left unsecure  –  An intentional decision to make devices less secure to allow for work from home (WFH) use.  One example would involve removing admin permissions so that employees can complete the task without administrator oversight. Another would be allowing the use of “unpatched” business computers that allow hackers to load malicious files with admin privileges.  In some cases, companies with high-end virtual private networks (VPNs) pre-loaded on business computers are allowing people to work from home on personal devices either with no VPN or with a lower-end virtual private network that may be less hacker resistant.

2. “New” assets created –  More and more reports are emerging of companies purchasing new devices or technology to account for employees working from home.  In one case reported directly to IAITAM a national health care company ordered 9,000 new laptop computers from a major online company and gave its IT department less than a week to prep the new machines and deliver them to users, who had little or no time for training and other security-related instructions. The concern:  The more corporate assets that you have, the higher risk of intrusion. Each asset becomes a doorway or entry point for a breach, particularly when it (or its user) are underprepared. IT Asset Managers help with this by providing the data necessary for corporate security teams to know what exists, where it exists, and what is on the device.

3. Assets now unsecure in at-home environments –  Many company devices were deployed into a WFH situation quickly, leaving little time to ensure that they would be secure via a virtual private network (VPN) or other means. Just last week, school districts in Oakland and Berkeley, California unwittingly became an accomplice in their own data breach by accidentally making Google Classroom documents public, which contained access codes and passwords for Zoom meetings, as well as student’s names and comments.

4. Employees unwittingly inviting in the intrusion –  Human error allows for mistakes and creates a vulnerability (i.e. clicking on phishing emails or downloading malware). Google reported last week that it is stopping 18 million coronavirus scam-related emails every day, many of them targeting cash strapped businesses looking for loans or other capital. An internal memo from NASA on April 6th revealed that increased cybersecurity attacks had been directed at their employees working remotely. These phishing attempts were disguised as appeals for help, disinformation campaigns or new information about COVID-19, to gain login credentials or install malicious software. This is a prime example of how an employee could unwittingly invite in an intrusion. IT Asset Managers are at the forefront of education and communication campaigns within organizations to help teach end users what they should and should not be doing.

Even companies that do not make a mistake themselves could still find themselves the victim of a coronavirus-related breach. Earlier this month, The Small Business Administration experienced a glitch with a coronavirus loan relief fund platform that publicly leaked the personally identifiable information of business owners across the nation.

The good news is that most or all of these issues can be mitigated with proper IT asset management (ITAM). Professionals in the ITAM industry facilitate corporate asset protection. Uncovering the vulnerabilities now, and then putting an action plan into place will save companies money in the end. If companies and businesses act now, they can turn today’s crisis into tomorrow’s opportunity.

IAITAM President and CEO Dr. Barbara Rembiesa recently went on camera
to share more about what companies and government agencies should be doing.

Mira Lehr – High Water Mark

At the age of 85, Mira Lehr is hitting a new high water mark in her career with national critical acclaim and a passion for protecting the planet from climate Armageddon. Mira Lehr has been championing environmental action since 1969, decades before others jumped on the climate bandwagon. It was fifty-one years ago that Buckminster Fuller chose Lehr for his groundbreaking World Game project. This was during the first lunar landing and a year before the first Earth Day, which celebrates its 50th anniversary this week on April 22.

Now, on the 50th anniversary of her artistic turning point towards championing the environment, the Mennello Museum of American Art in Orlando has invited Mira Lehr to present a new exhibition with a fateful title: High Water Mark. Since the museum is temporarily closed due to the pandemic, a new series of online initiatives bring Mira’s art to audiences who are staying at home now because of social distancing.

➢ The Mennello Museum is also providing online tools for families while at home with their children during the pandemic, based on Mira Lehr’s exhibition. Parents can visit the museum’s social media channels: facebook.com/MennelloMuseum and instagram.com/mennellomuseum (#YourMennelloMoment).

➢ Lehr is sharing the museum’s virtual tours with her audiences at this new video-tour miralehr.com/high-water-mark-exhibition-videos and at this new gallery photo-tour miralehr.com/exhibition-phototour.

About the Artist

Lehr’s solo and group exhibitions number over 300. She is a graduate of Vassar College (1956) with a degree in Art History, under the mentorship of Linda Nochlin, the feminist art historian. She has been collected by major institutions across the U.S., including the Smithsonian Museum of American Art (Washington), the Getty Museum Research Center (Los Angeles), Perez Art Museum (Miami), and the Frances Lehman Loeb Art Center (NY).

FIVIO FOREIGN – 800 B.C.

Following weeks of anticipation, Fivio Foreign, one of 2020’s artists to watch releases the long awaited mixtape 800 B.C.today via Columbia Records. The accompanying reminiscent visual for “Drive By” directed by JLShotThat is live HERE.

With features from Meek MillLil TjayQuavo and Lil Baby, 800 B.C. previews what’s to come from Fivio Foreign’s upcoming debut album. Frequent collaborator AXL Beats assists on the production end as well as 808 MeloYamaica & more. Following a year of successful momentum, the Brooklyn drill sound that took over the East Coast alongside Fivio’s energetic and contagious rhymes is what sets the rising rapper apart from the pack. After receiving many notable co-signs from his peers and landing on multiple “Artists To Watch” lists including BillboardComplexHotNewHipHop & more, Fivio Foreign is solidifying his space in music.

ABOUT FIVIO FOREIGN

A quintessential part of living in New York City’s largest borough, Brooklyn, especially for those with sharp ears, is witnessing the speed at which an infectious song can travel. From brownstone stoops to car stereos, Brooklyn blocks are the ultimate lab for testing the mad science of a hit record. Every summer, a slew of tracks face off to claim the season’s title, and one of 2019’s hottest contenders, rapper Fivio Foreign’s Big Drip”,took the city by storm. Released in June, the song boasts millions of streams across platforms and its accompanying video surpassing 25 million views on YouTube.

Fivio is New York born and bred, raised in and around Brooklyn’s Fort Greene and East Flatbush neighborhoods. He’s been rapping all his life—”We used to rap in the room with a computer, me, my cousin Nate, we was always lit.” Charming and confident, the telltale signs of a New York hustler – it wasn’t until 2018, following the death of his mother and after years of recording and putting songs out casually, that Fivio began to take his craft seriously. Now a major player in Brooklyn’s burgeoning drill music scene, Fivio has collaborated most with UK producer AXL Beats, who also lent his talents to “Wetty”, “Jumpin’” and Rich The Kid-assisted “Richer Than Ever”. “I feel like my music is like me,” Fivio says about his growing catalog of party-ready heat. “It’s fun, turnt up, and loud, but serious at the same time.

Fivio was coined his name due to an innocent miscommunication: “My son Dot named me. He was like ‘You remind me of Fabio’, but I thought he said Fivio because I don’t know Fabio,” he admits. “I actually like the number 6 better,” he says, adding that his name has nothing to do with numerology. The story of Fivio’s name is emblematic of his easy going nature and his will to have fun as often as possible. In the video for Big Drip, a raucous crew takes over ice cream trucks and cocks nerf water guns while women twerk along to the summer anthem. But as lighthearted as he is in person and in his music, Fivio’s life hasn’t been a walk in the park. To the contrary, it’s the joy he finds in making music that keeps him going.

Still, he considers the moments leading up to the launch of his career as divinely calculated. “I got signed on my mother’s birthday, and I got the keys to my first house on the day thatshe died,” he says with conviction. On where’s he’s headed, Fivio is wide-eyed with big dreams: “I’m ushering in a new wave. I know for a fact that I’m here to do something biggerthan me. I want everyone to start knowing my face like how they know my music.” It doesn’t get more New York than that.

Auvere – Gold Jewelry

Carribean-American jewelry designer Gina Feldman Love, who is the Co-Founder of Auvere, a handcrafted gold jewelry line (22k and 24k pure gold). It aims to bring the ancient beauty of pure gold to the mainstream, empowering women to buy pure, high-karat gold pieces that they love–and can also make for a good financial investment.

Below, Gina breaks down the pros and cons of 10k gold which is just 41.7% gold all the way up to pure 99.99% gold.

  • 10 karat gold.  10 karat gold contains the lowest amount of gold that can be sold legally in the United States as “gold” — 41.7%.  Since it is mostly alloy, it has a silvery appearance and is highly susceptible to oxidation.
    • Pro:  It costs less than some costume jewelry.
    • Con:  With less than 50% gold content, it’s hard to call it real gold. It is not hypoallergenic, may trigger skin allergies and is very likely to oxidize and blacken over time.
  • 14 karat gold.  14 karat gold is 58.3% gold. The remaining 41.7% consists of alloys such as copper and silver.  It’s probably safe to say that 14 karat gold is the most common rate of gold jewelry sold in the U.S. because it is very hard and relatively inexpensive due to the high alloy content.
    • Pro: It is hard, holds pronged gemstones extremely well and is relatively inexpensive.
    • Con: It it is likely to suffer from oxidation and blacken over time. 14 karat gold may also trigger skin allergies.
  • 18 karat gold. 18 karat gold is 75% pure gold and 25% alloy.  What makes 18K gold popular among jewelers is that it possesses a richer gold color than 14 karat gold because of higher gold content but is hard enough to hold gemstones in tiny “high-rise” prongs.
    • Pro: 18 karat gold contains a sizable gold content, which makes it more lustrous than 14 karat gold. It holds pronged gemstones well and is used by top jewelers.
    • Con:  Because 18K is used by many top jewelers who charge margins in excess of  300% of the cost to make, you pay a lot more money for a lot less gold than you would if you purchased 22 and 24 karat gold from trusted direct-to-consumer brands.
  • 22 karat gold.  22 karat gold is 91.67% pure gold. We love it because of its high gold content and delicious golden hue.  On top of that, 22K gold is strong enough to make everyday jewelry that holds gemstones (just not in prongs).
    • Pro:  Almost 92 percent pure gold in every piece. Lustrous yellow color when compared to 14 and 18 karat gold.  Hard enough for every day use.
    • Con:  For those used to the subtle gold color in 14 and 18 karat gold, the deep yellow hue of 22 karat gold may be too much gold. But once you get used to the true color of gold, it is hard to go back.
  • 24 karat gold.  24 karat gold is the big daddy of solid gold jewelry.  Containing 99.99% pure gold, it is incredibly precious, rare and soft when compared to 14 or 18 karat gold.  But it’s the rarity and softness that makes for very special jewelry — pieces that mold to your form over time.  If you are someone who never takes off your jewelry or you put your jewelry through its paces, then 24 karat gold may not be for you.  But if you love the idea of wearing something rich, rare, pure and with more inherent value than 14 and 18 karat gold, then consider 24K.
    • Pro:  24 karat gold is the richest and rarest form of gold jewelry possible.
    • Con:  It is soft.  Not so soft that you can’t wear it. But soft enough that you have to take some care when you wear it.

Of the inspiration behind the video, Morgue says, “The idea for this video was to have me sort of contrasting the spaces I was in, with the way I was dressed and how messy my hair was against the soft, light backgrounds. It was also supposed to hint at a sort of intimacy and waiting for someone else to arrive in that bedroom or the diner.”
