What is HDPE (High-Density Polyethylene) sheet?

High-density polyethylene (HDPE) is probably the most widely used plastic sheet. Think about the toy trucks and storage containers, all these products are made from HDPE. This thermoplastic is known for being light and strong. Most companies are going for HDPE plastic sheets because they can reduce the material used to manufacture and package products because of their ideal weight and strength.

Why HDPE is popular?

HDPE is the perfect substitute for heavier materials. No wonder, many companies that are going for sustainable business models, such as reduction of material used in packaging prefer using HDPE. Below are more benefits of HDPE:

  • It’s lightweight. Although products made up of HDPE are lightweight, they are very strong. This is the reason why car manufacturers use it to improve fuel efficiency by having lighter cars.
  • HDPE is impact resistant. Plastic toys and other products are not affected when you drop them because they have great impact resistance.
  • It’s long-lasting. Products made of HDPE last long because it’s weather-resistant and also resists mildew, mold, insects, and rotting.
  • Malleability. HDPE can be molded into any shape, meaning you can have a customized product that meets your expectations.

Major benefits of HDPE

While most people use other plastics like polypropylene and polyester, HDPE has become the most popular plastic. This is not only because it’s versatile, but it’s also one of the most recycled plastics. It can be recycled in its rigid forms such as containers and flexible forms like plastic bags. You can get more information by visiting http://www.regal-plastics.com/hdpe-high-density-sheet/.

HDPE sheet is resistant to stain, moisture, and odor, making it suitable for use in the manufacturing and food processing industry. It’s also an ideal substitute for wood and metal because it’s chemical resistant, it has high impact strength, easy to clean, easily machined or fabricated, and it’s cost-effective. Besides, the HDPE sheet has a natural color that is FDA approved.

Applications of HDPE

HDPE sheet comes in two colors, which are black and natural and are available with smooth and textured finishes. HDPE is used in various applications, and you might have used a product made from it without realizing it. Some of the applications that use HDPE include piping systems, milk jugs, fuel tanks, shampoo bottles, hard hats, water bottles, and bread bags.

As you can see, it’s used in a wide range of industries. Therefore, next time you find a plastic product, look at the bottom to find out if it has a recycle 2 which indicates that it has HDPE.

Sustainability

Thankfully, HDPE is recyclable, and in this way, it prevents landfills. Nearly, most of the recycling programs accept HDPE products, such as bottles. Recycled HDPE is also as popular and versatile material as its counterpart. You can use it in most of the same applications mentioned above. Some of the other key uses include recycled plastic storage containers, recycled plastic automobile parts, recycled plastic outdoor furniture, and recycled plastic trash cans, recycled bins, and compost bins.

“This tour is a seismic shift for me….I am bringing out a full band for the first time in 15 years! My goal is to bring the enormous landscape in the album to life, every night. The highs, the lows, the dreams in between. I am also thrilled to be sharing the stage with the fantastic songwriter Jenny O who will be opening all shows.”-Vanessa Carlton

Vanessa gave fans a sneak peek of what they can expect from the tour with her recent performance of “The Only Way To Love” on 3rd Hour TODAY, visit HERE to watch.

The upcoming album Love Is An Art, explores the eternal seesaw that is human connection: the push, the pull, the balance, the bottoming out. It’s that constantly evolving nature of love, expectations and compassion that Carlton analyzes from all angles on Love Is An Art, from romantic, to parental, to the friends that hold us up and the leaders that repeatedly let us down.

“Love is the energy you put out into the world,” says the Nashville-based Carlton, who was inspired in part by the 1956 book The Art of Loving by philosopher Erich Fromm, and by stories and struggles both in her interior world and the world around her. “And it can be so incredibly messy at times.” Love Is An Art finds Carlton reckoning with toxic relationships (the confessional “Miner’s Canary”), eternal partnership (“Companion Star”) and the children who fill the world with love and grace while politicians fill their pockets (the passionate “Die, Dinosaur,” written after the shootings in Parkland, Florida). And true to Carlton’s skill as both a lyricist and an instrumentalist, the arrangements on Love Is An Art tell these tales as vibrantly as the words themselves: piano parts that speak of rage and tenderness, synths that burst and glow like dawn. Benee Drops Video and Tour Dates

BENEE DROPS VIDEO FOR “SUPALONELY” FEATURING GUS DAPPERTON

WATCH HERE

ANNOUNCES NORTH AMERICAN HEADLINE TOUR BEGINNING IN APRIL

“A Kiwi Pop Star In the Making” – Pigeons & Planes

New Zealand’s indie pop sensation BENEE returns with the video for “Supalonely” featuring Gus Dapperton, today—watch HERE! “Supalonely” is featured on her latest EP, STELLA & STEVE, released to critical acclaim in November.

BENEE worked with rising Australian director, Rome, on the video. Explaining how she wanted the video to match the song’s colorful and fun mood but also convey its contrasting lyrical theme, she says, “It starts with me being a lonely teen at home then turns into this weird dreamscape, where I end up dancing around with Gus who appears through a TV screen in the lounge!”

Gus Dapperton chimes in, saying, “It was a really seamless shoot, and the final product is a great depiction of the song!”

BENEE will be back in North America this spring for the biggest headline tour of her burgeoning career. The tour kicks off on April 21st in Santa Ana at Constellation Room and makes stops in Los Angeles at The Roxy Theatre on April 24th, Brooklyn at Music Hall of Williamsburg on May 7th and more. Californian artist Remi Wolf joins BENEE for most dates on the tour, which promises to make for a riotously funky night out. See the full list of upcoming dates below. Tickets go on sale Friday, February 7th at 10:00am local time.

2019 was a monumental year for BENEE, as her music buzzed on the hippest playlists with a fervent audience growing around her groove-drenched sound and quirky lyrical-take on the world. Her latest hit “Glitter” and breakout single “Soaked” have each passed 30 million Spotify streams, with “Glitter” featured on Spotify’s “Pop Rising,” “TGIF” and “Indie Pop” and Apple Music’s “Indie Pop” and “Pop Deluxe” playlists. The song is certified Platinum in both New Zealand and Australia, while “Soaked” is now Double Platinum in her home country and Platinum in Australia.

BENEE claimed four New Zealand Music Awards in November, taking home trophies for “Single Of The Year” for “Soaked,” “Best Solo Artist,” “Best Pop Artist” and “Breakthrough Artist Of The Year.” She proved her growing domination down under by taking three places in the listener-voted Triple J Hottest 100 2020 in January. The influential Australian song poll ranked “Glitter” at #19, “Find an Island” at #25 and “Evil Spider” at #52 among the best songs of the year. BENEE also recently performed “Glitter” and her own unique take of James Blake’s “Mile High” featuring Travis Scott for Triple J’s Like A Version.

Stay tuned for more from BENEE in 2020!

ABOUT BENEE
Vi·sion·ar·y – as defined by Google – is a (noun) person with original ideas who plans the future with imagination or wisdom. With both traits in abundance well beyond her age, New Zealand’s BENEE redefines the word. Carving out a space between indie pop and R&B, she deconstructs modern “pop music” to create a sonic landscape all her own. Growing up in suburban Auckland, New Zealand among a community of creatives, BENEE was immersed in the arts from a young age, and after releasing a series of self-released GarageBand covers on SoundCloud, she was soon writing and recording at Golden Age Studio with producer Josh Fountain in her senior year of high school. Just two weeks after enrolling in university, BENEE dropped out with a now unstoppable and feverish conviction to pursue music full-time. After releasing her Double Platinum-Certified breakout single “Soaked (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ubE_ac2wYPQ) ” in 2018, what she refers to as her ‘BENEEvision’— or “the idea that all of my music, visuals and content contribute to a greater artwork.”—immediately hit home.

AI and Humans: Super Bowl Ads Explore Relationship

Voice Tech Zeitgeist: SuperBowl Ads Reveal Our Complex, Ever Evolving Relationship with AI

By Eric Turkington, RAIN

SuperBowl spots reveal barometers of what the world’s biggest brands think the American public wants to hear. And in 2020, perhaps more starkly than ever, SuperBowl ads telegraphed the complicated relationship we humans have with our AI counterparts.

SuperBowl advertisers often converge around common themes each year based on the prevailing sentiment from embracing nostalgia to championing social purpose to retaining our humanity amidst technological revolution. Striking about the several commercials that featured voice AI in 2020 was how different they were, with each revealing a distinct belief, fear or hope that we harbor about this technology as it becomes an ever more central in our lives.

Here’s a breakdown of wildly different takes I saw about the role of voice assistants at the dawn of a decade.

Amazon goes for humor to reinforce modern AI dependence. Amazon’s Alexa ad tapped
celebrity star power to explore a hypothetical: Real life couple Ellen and Portia wonder what life was like before Alexa. Clearly no expense was spared to imagine humorous takes on this question across a range of faux historical settings, from court jesters to bottle blowing musicians. The ad reinforces the notion of servility:

Alexa is the agent serving the human master while also overtly calling attention to the humanness of the voice assistants’ name (every vignette includes a person with a name that begins with A-L. This ad touches on two controversial questions in voice AI: First, should we be teaching our children to treat voice assistants as fundamentally less than human, worthy of subjugation of our every request? Secondly, was it fair to people named Alexa to have their names be co-opted by Amazon for a voice assistant positioned broadly in popular culture as a servant? Lauren Johnson, founder of Alexa, who is a human, certainly would have a thing or two to say here.

Google tugs at heartstrings by showing an emotional side of voice AI. Considered by many to be among the best of this year’s crop, Google’s “Loretta” tapped into the emotionally raw and relatable circumstance of dealing with a loved one’s death. A man uses Google Assistant–the name is never mentioned in the creative–to remember advice his wife gave him and to pull up memories of their time together. In contrast to Alexa’s portrayal, Google Assistant is playing the role of supportive companion and memorialist. This isn’t the subjugation of AI for menial tasks, but for an elevated purpose that augments the relationship we have with one another, whether living or dead.

Snickers raises that ole eavesdropping concern. Snickers used a generic voice assistant as one of many antagonists in a broader tableau of internet-gone-wrong. An older man sings “the surveillance state’s got a brand new trick,” to which a female voice assistant inside a speaker remarks, coldly, “I am not spying.” The moment was fleeting, but it’s nonetheless telling that the notion of spying smart speakers is a part of the dystopian tech narrative as selfie culture, sexting, and adult scooters.

Coca-Cola makes voice a tactical channel. Coca-Cola’s spot touting its new energy drink did not directly make reference to voice assistants, but Alexa has been among the biggest part of the launch campaign for the same product. Before the ad ran on SuperBowl day, Coke launched a large-scale sampling campaign and leveraged Alexa as a channel for consumers. Using the command “Alexa, order Coke Energy”, consumers would get a free sample of the new product, all which reportedly sold out before the game. While the ad creative was devoid of calls-to-action on Alexa, Coke made savvy use of voice as a sampling strategy to build buzz for the product before its big SB debut. Perhaps if they had a few (million) more samples on hand, they would have included an Alexa call-to-action at the end of the spot

Voice AI has become —and will be even more so — an indelible part of our culture. As voice is able to do more, the references to voice may well become less thematic and topical and even more practical and functional. Indeed, the promoted utterance might be the most prominent hashtag in 2021

Jaylen Barron

Jaylen Barron
Free Rein (Netflix)

Growing up in Southern California, Jaylen Barron knew from a young age she wanted to be an actress. As part of a multicultural family, she took great pride in her African American and Latina heritage. She was dismayed to find very few actors that looked like her onscreen. Driven by a desire to make a change, Barron decided that she wanted to pursue a career in the entertainment industry. Noticing her passion to reach her goal, her mom took her to get headshots and she soon landed her first job as a model for the girls clothing brand Justice. While making her mark in the world of modeling, she continued to pursue her dream of acting in hopes of emulating her childhood role models like Halle Berry.

Barron’s first foray on the small screen came when she was cast as Melanie on Disney’s Shake It Up. Shortly after, she recurred on Nickelodeon’s See Dad Run as Emily’s best friend Mary, as well as Good Luck Charlie as Lauren Dabney, the love interest of Gabe Duncan. Other memorable appearances include guest spots on Bones and Those Who Can’t. Though these were some of her very first performances, her talent did not go unnoticed and earned her four Young Artist Awards nominations.

Her big break came when she landed a heavily recurring role on Showtime’s Emmy-winning drama series Shameless. Barron portrayed Dominique, the girlfriend of Ethan Cutkosky’s character, Carl. Dominique is a good girl with bad girl tendencies that goes on a downward spiral. She shared the screen with the all-star cast including William H. Macy, Emmy Rossum, Jeremy Allen White, and Steve Howey.

Barron continues to take Hollywood by storm. She can be seen as the lead on the award winning Netflix series Free Rein. She stars as Zoe, a 15-year-old from Los Angeles who spends the summer at her mom’s childhood home on an island off the coast of England. After befriending a mysterious horse during the summer, she finds the strength to deal with issues she faces. Her character is the only black female on the equestrian team, making her the first American person of color to play the lead in a Netflix Children’s original series. The hit series has won two Daytime Emmys, including one for Outstanding Children’s Series, and earned an NAACP Image Award nomination for Outstanding Children’s Program.

She is also showcasing her talent behind the camera in the world of voiceover. She can currently be heard in Go90’s animated short series Explosion Jones alongside Danny Trejo, Vivica A. Fox, Michael Madsen, Carl Weathers, and James Hong. In addition, she has another leading voice role that should be announced publicly soon.

Aside from acting, Barron is expanding her repertoire as an entrepreneur. She recently launched her own lash line, Boujaye Lashes, which consists of vegan and cruelty-free lashes.

When she is not busy, Barron enjoys cooking, watching documentaries and most importantly, spending time with her family. She also loves working out by spending time in the gym or outdoors. Barron loves fashion and prides herself on keeping up with the latest styles and trends. She currently resides in the Los Angeles area with her beloved dogs, Bugsy and Powder.

4 Easy Bedroom Makeover Tips You’ll Love

Your bedroom is the place in your home where you should feel the most comfortable and love spending time in but having the same layout and decoration in your bedroom for a long time can start to get not only boring but also depressing. Don’t let your bedroom become a source of stress and boredom. Try out some of these four easy makeover tips to breathe new life into your room!

A Splash of Paint Goes a Long Way

Sometimes it’s the simplest things that make the biggest difference. Whether you’re completely changing the look of a wall or just rejuvenating it with a fresh coat of paint, a new color on your bedroom walls will instantly brighten the space and can even make it look bigger than it originally was. You don’t have to simply paint a wall in the same block color. If you’re feeling really adventurous, you can paint a mural on your wall of whatever you want. This will not only breathe new life into your bedroom but customize it completely to your tastes with a mural of things you love.

Switch Up the Color Scheme

If you’re getting bored of looking at the same old room or you’re finding that you’ve grown out of the color scheme that you once chose, you can easily change it to give your room a whole new feel. For a classy look, try replacing your existing room with modern and elegant colors such as duck egg paired with a classy and bold tan. It can be difficult to picture what colors would look good paired together or whether your existing décor will stand or need to be placed, so try creating mood boards on websites like Pinterest to get a clearer idea of what you want before you commit.

Try Minimalism

Minimalism is a craze that not only applies to lifestyle but also applies to a style of designing. Making use of white walls, muted colors or earthy tones, minimalism wants to play down a design and make it look elegant, classic and raw rather than turning your head with bright, bold colors. A classic minimalist look is plain white walls, little decoration or clutter, string lights and a tapestry hanging on the wall. Plants are also immensely popular in the minimalism movement, as they add an airy and elegant look to a room, so get planting and put them wherever you can! Whilst this look isn’t for everyone as it can seem quite empty or boring to some, it is very easy to achieve, so why not try minimalism?

Comfort is Important Too

Whilst the idea of a makeover makes people think simply of what they can see, it is important that your makeover takes comfort into account too, as people often spend a long time in their bedrooms, so it’s important to be comfortable! If you have an old wooden chair at your desk, this is the perfect opportunity to throw it out and get more comfortable with a simple velvet, comfy chair decorated with a throw. As your bedroom is where you sleep, it’s important that your makeover includes your mattress. Throw out your old uncomfortable mattress and replace it with a beautiful memory foam mattress, designed to adapt to your curves and figure for ultimate sleep quality. If you’re unsure where to find these, check out this one from Zoma and never have a restless night again!

Sometimes a bedroom makeover is just what you need to lift your spirits and bring new excitement and new beginnings into your life. It doesn’t have to be a difficult full-scale project, try some of these four easy bedroom makeover tips you’ll love and, most of all, make sure you have fun!
