OCASO UNDERGROUND MUSIC FESTIVAL ANNOUNCES TALENT LINEUP AND RETURN TO COSTA RICA JANUARY 9th-13th 2020

DJ Line-Up to Feature Maceo Plex, Äme, Doc Martin, Justin Martin, Magdalena, Shiba San, Seth Troxler and Artbat Among Others!

The Ocaso Underground Music Festival, is set to return to Costa Rica for the fourth year in a row and announced today its long awaited powerhouse musical line-up. With featured performers to include 2019 DJ Award Winner for Melodic House and Techno Maceo Plex, 2019 DJ Award Breakthrough Artist winner Artbat, Äme, Doc Martin, Justin Martin, Magdalena, and Shiba San, 2020 attendance is expected to exceed the roughly 4,000 ticket holders in 2019. The festival will be held January 9th – the 13th at the La Senda Retreat, in Tamarindo, CR. Tickets may be purchased HERE.

Ocaso has quickly grown into a cornerstone in the world of underground electronic music festivals. With musical areas located poolside, on the beach, and deep in the jungle, the event is one of the most unique destination music experiences in existence today. Hosted on the iconic La Senda retreat grounds, festival goers are treated to a mystical journey through Costa Rican beaches and jungles, all while experiencing an unforgettable week of transcendent music where DJ’s and fans from around the world can meld together to partake in the incredible energies of the land.

The 74 acre La Senda grounds, known for exuding serenity and tranquility, holds the world’s largest labyrinth that was built using a scared geometrical design aimed at boosting flows of positive energy. The labrynth will be the site for the festivals amphitheater as well as the majority of events. From the vibrant beauty of the forest and the extended paddock to the colorful diversity of flora and abundance of wildlife, the soothing caress of the labyrinth’s energy field and the nurturing presence of all our domestic animals, there is an unspoken energy that words cannot grasp.

Music, sports, television and fashion stars rang in the new decade in Las Vegas with a night of dancing and dining at the grand opening of Bellagio Resort & Casino’s glamourous new supper club, The Mayfair. Leona Lewis, Nina Dobrev, Tanner Novlan and Kayla Ewell, Candice and Joe King, Shaun White and Daniel Bamdad were amongst the revelers. On Friday, Lady Gaga brought 100 of her dancers and friends to The Mayfair for an early New Year’s celebration before the restaurant opened to the public.

Filled with live performances and surprise acts, The Mayfair Supper Club overlooks the Bellagio Fountains and evolves from a swinging prohibition-era jazz club to a late-night dance party that modernizes the Roaring ‘20s for the 2020s.

British singer-songwriter and “X-Factor” star Leona Lewis headed to Vegas to support new hubby Dennis Jauch, who is co-founder of No Ceilings Entertainment, the production powerhouse that produced The Mayfair’s incredible entertainment experience. The duo, who tied the knot in Italy this summer, met in 2010 when Jauch was a dancer on her tour. Throughout the night, Lewis was glued to performances by the dancers, singers and musicians – many of whom she saw during the casting process – snapping pictures and videos and congratulating Jauch.

“Vampire Diaries” cast Nina Dobrev, Tanner Novlan and wife Kayla Ewell, and Candice (Accola) King reunited at the bash celebrating New Year’s Eve at a Fountain-side table, dining and dancing into the early morning. Olympic champion and snowboarding legend Shaun White, and Accola’s husband and The Fray’s guitarist Joe King, also joined the party. At midnight, the Novlans rang in 2020 with a sweet kiss on The Mayfair’s dance floor.

Lewis, Dobrev, Ewell and King complimented each other’s stunning NYE attire and joined together for celebratory photos, followed by Lewis and Dobrev snapping selfies together.

German model Daniel Bamdad was pulled on stage, blindfolded and fed cream pie as singers and dancers teased him during one of The Mayfair’s boundary-breaking performances that concluded with a hilarious bait and switch that had Bamdad – and guests throughout the restaurant – roaring.

Fastest-Ever Ethiopian Woman Worknesh Degefa Confirmed in Line-up

A powerful field of elite athletes from the hotbeds of African distance running will come together for the first major international marathon of the new year when the Standard Chartered Dubai Marathon is staged on January 24.

Soloman Deksisa (2:04:40) and Seifu Tura (2:04:44) of Ethiopia lead the men’s field, while former winner Worknesh Degefa (2:17:41) and Alemu Megertu (2:21:10) – also from Ethiopia – will head up the women’s elite division when Dubai hosts many of the best marathon runners in the world for the 21^st time.

With a world-class personal best of 2:04:40, 25-year-old Deksisa is the fastest athlete in the start list. Despite his relatively young age the talented Ethiopian has built up plenty of experience at the marathon distance after a brief track career.

At the age of just 20, he won the San Diego Half Marathon with a personal best of 60:12, while less than two years later he moved up to the marathon and ran an impressive debut in Rotterdam where he finished second in 2:06:22. Since then he has fully focussed on the 42.195km distance and claimed his first marathon victory in Mumbai in 2018 before winning again in Hamburg a few months later. He capped his best year so far in Amsterdam with a marathon personal best of 2:04:40 that is just one minute outside the Dubai course record set in 2019 by Getaneh Molla.

Deksisa’s compatriot Tura is another of Ethiopia’s crop of rising stars who made an impressive marathon debut with a solid second place in 2:09:26 in Seoul in 2017. Still just 22, Tura enjoyed his best day at the 2018 Standard Chartered Dubai Marathon when he took full advantage of the renowned fast course to carve a big slice off his personal best, improving by over four minutes to run 2:04:44 for seventh. The young Ethiopian has also sealed marathon wins in Milan and Shanghai, while setting a Half Marathon personal best of 59:17 in Buenos Aires in August.

In the women’s field, Worknesh Degefa – Ethiopia’s fastest female marathon runner of all time – will start as red-hot favourite thanks to an enviable record running the flat and fast streets of Dubai.

In 2017, the diminutive 29-year-old stunned an experienced field by winning in Dubai on what was her marathon debut. A year later, she broke the 2:20 mark for the first time but had to settle for fourth, while last year saw her finish second in Dubai in a remarkable time of 2:17:41. Not only did Degefa smash the Ethiopian record by 15 seconds, she also set what is now the fifth fastest time in women’s marathon history.

Held under the patronage of HH Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, and under the aegis of the Dubai Sports Council, the Standard Chartered Dubai Marathon will be the first major sporting event in what is a historic year for the city with some 30,000 runners expected across three races.
