CHEVROLET SUBURBAN RECEIVES HOLLYWOOD STAR

Iconic vehicle starred in more than 1,750 films and television series since 1952

Yesterday, the Chevrolet Suburban became the first vehicle ever awarded an Award of Excellence star at Hollywood & Highland. Presented by the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce and unveiled at a ceremony on Hollywood Boulevard, the award recognizes Suburban for its 67-year career in Hollywood film and television.

“For six decades the Chevrolet Suburban has been Hollywood’s longest-working actor,” said Rana Ghadban, president and CEO of the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce. “Appearing in classic feature films and on must-see television shows, the Suburban is a well-established industry mainstay. With the Chevrolet Tahoe also making an impact in movies and on television, it’s impressive to have both vehicles now join an illustrious group of actors and characters that are forever known as Hollywood legends.”

During its acting career the Suburban evolved to become the ultimate character actor, able to play the hero, the villain, or the family alike.
“There’s really nothing else like the Chevrolet Suburban in this business, for two reasons,” said Dennis McCarthy, Hollywood picture car coordinator. “First, it’s one of the most versatile vehicles in the business, able to fit with any type of character. Second, it can help instantly give a scene added importance. When a convoy of black Suburbans appears on screen, you know that’s not the time to leave your seat to buy popcorn.”

The relationship between the Chevy Suburban and Hollywood began in 1952, when it first appeared on the silver screen. Since then, Suburban has starred in more than 1,750 films and television series. It has appeared in at least one television series every year since 1956, and at least one film every year since 1960. Suburban has also appeared in more than 30 award-nominated films.

The filmography is even more impressive when combined with the Chevy Tahoe. Together, Tahoe and Suburban have appeared in more than 2,500 films and television shows. Since the Tahoe was introduced in 1995, it has appeared in at least one film and television show every year.

According to Tim Kozub, design manager for Chevrolet Suburban and Tahoe, their on-screen persona also influenced the all-new Suburban and Tahoe, which will be unveiled later this month: “This is a great example of how life and art influence each other. The popularity of Suburban and Tahoe in film was first inspired by the real-life roles they played in the military, in law enforcement and family trips around the world. Today, their role in Hollywood inspired the design of the all-new models, as we integrated the sense of capability, action, and importance associated with Suburban and Tahoe on screen.”

TEYANA TAYLOR – “WE GOT LOVE”

TEYANA TAYLOR DROPS HIGHLY-ANTICIPATED NEW SINGLE “WE GOT LOVE,” AVAILABLE TODAY VIA G.O.O.D. MUSIC/DEF JAM RECORDINGS

LATEST ADVANCE CUT FROM EAGERLY AWAITED NEW PROJECT, THE ALBUM, SLATED FOR EARLY 2020

TEYANA PERFORMS TONIGHT AT ART BASEL MIAMI

LISTEN TO “WE GOT LOVE

Teyana Taylor – multi-hyphenate R&B superstar singer, songwriter, producer, director, dancer/choreographer, actor, fitness guru, model, mother, Harlem native – announces the release of “We Got Love,” her brand new single available today via G.O.O.D. Music/Def Jam Recordings. In celebration of the new single release, Teyana will be headlining her own Art Basel Miami concert series in partnership with Def Jam and Courvoisier.

Produced by Kanye West for Teyana, the track was originally slated for Teyana’s K.T.S.E. album, but was held back because of clearance issues. “I’ve always felt this was such a special record and wanted it to have the right moment,” said Teyana.”We Got Love,” is the newest advance track from the upcoming project THE ALBUM, slated to drop early 2020 and comes on the heels of Teyana’s consecutive R&B smashes “How You Want It? (HYWI?)” featuring King Combs which entered into the Top 20 on R&B charts in August and “Morning” featuring Kehlani – her biggest video release to date, amassing over 11 million views in less than a month and entering into the Top 10 on R&B Charts in November. Each video was self-directed by Teyana – aka ‘Spike Tee.’

THE ALBUM, Teyana’s official third studio album, is the long-awaited follow-up to K.T.S.E., one of the five G.O.O.D. Music/Def Jam albums produced by Kanye West during his 2018 sojourn in Jackson Hole, Wyoming.  Released in June 2018, K.T.S.E. (acronym for Keep That Same Energy) set off an 18-month chain reaction for Teyana, starting with its summertime Top 10 R&B smash “Gonna Love Me.”  Teyana performed “Gonna Love Me” (in a medley with “Rose In Harlem,” another K.T.S.E. track) on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. Hip-hop audiences embraced the “Gonna Love Me” remix featuring Wu-Tang Clan’s Ghostface KillahMethod Man and Raekwon, whose video was also directed by Teyana.

K.T.S.E. spun off a hot new single and video for Teyana in early 2019, the explicit “WTP (Work This P***y).”  The video was nominated for “Best Dance Performance” at the recent 32nd annual BET Soul Train Awards. The third single from K.T.S.E. was the evocative “Issues/Hold On.” After slaying the audience with the song live on Ellen in April 2019, Teyana was surprised on-air when Ellen presented her with the RIAA gold award plaque for “Gonna Love Me,” bringing it all full circle.

Is Serena Williams the most influential sportswoman ever?

There are few things that magazines, websites and blogs like better than a good “who or what is the greatest” article. It gives writers the chance to inflict their opinions on others and inevitably provokes controversy and debate as readers chip in as to how the Ferrari Testarossa is a better supercar than the Lamborghini Diablo or why Daniel Craig will never be as good a James Bond as Sean Connery.

When it comes to sport, the debate ratchets up a notch. Comparing the top achievers from different sports is difficult enough, but when you are also talking about different eras, it becomes an exercise in the futile. Still, even in a top ten in no particular order, there are certain names you are certain to see. These might include Joe Montana, Pele, Usain Bolt, Michael Schumacher, Tiger Woods, Roger Federer, Mohammed Ali and Michael Jordan to name just a few.

Different people from different eras with very little in common, right? Well, not exactly. Look at that list again and there is one fundamental thing they all share. In short, there’s a complete absence of female representation. In some ways, that is not surprising, not because women are any less talented in sport but because, for so many years, women’s sport has lagged behind the men in terms of spectator support, media coverage and funding. You need only look at the pay gaps between the top male and female players to see it. In soccer, for example, the top male player earns around 100 times more than his female counterpart, while in boxing, the difference between Saul Alvarez and Katie Taylor’s top pay days is a factor of almost 1000.

Yet there is one sport in which the divide, while still present, is far less pronounced. Over recent years, women’s tennis has attracted higher viewing figures than the men’s game. In part, that’s due to the nature of the serve producing fewer aces, more rallies and therefore a better spectacle. But it is also due to the pioneering and inspirational nature of one woman who has been at the top of the game for two decades and fully deserves a place on any all time list you can think of.

A legend of the game

Before we even consider anything else, let’s look at Serena Williams in purely sporting terms. Having turned pro at the age of 15, she has been on the professional tour since October 1995, almost a quarter of a century. Tennis players of either sex typically peak in their mid to late 20s and are past their best at 30, yet at age 38, Serena is still ranked in the top 10.

To put it bluntly, Serena has owned women’s tennis for two decades, and you have to feel a little sorry for other pros who have been unfortunate enough to be on the circuit in the Serena era. There are only two other players that have managed to grasp the number one spot more than twice during Serena’s dominance. One is Kim Clijsters and the other Maria Sharapova.

The latter seemed set to embark on a period of her own domination, yet over a 16 year period, Sharapova has won only three of her 23 professional encounters with Williams. Indeed, aside from one walkover last year when Williams had to pull out of the French Open, it’s been an incredible 15 years since Sharapova last beat Williams at the JP Morgan Chase Open in 2004 – that’s a run of 19 defeats for the Russian.

As for out and out victories, Serena is also comfortably at the top of the pile. By winning the Australian Open in 2017, she took her grand slam tally to 23 to go one ahead of Steffi Graf. Not only was she 35 years of age, but it later emerged that she was eight to nine weeks pregnant at the time. Her record also puts her comfortably ahead of the most successful male tennis star, Roger Federer, who has 20 grand slam titles to his name.

Overcoming adversity

Achieving greatness in sport, or in any discipline, often takes more than skill and talent, however. It is this extra factor that catapults Serena to more than just a sporting legend and makes her an inspiration to girls and women across the globe.

Beating the opposition is one thing, but when your fiercest rival also happens to be your big sister, it adds a whole new dimension. Yet Serena and Venus’ dominance did not go down well in all circles. Until they arrived on the scene there was an embarrassing lack of non-white pros on the circuit, male or female, and both faced both casual and sometimes overt racial abuse on their journey to the top.

This culminated in the India Wells fiasco in 2001, when Venus withdrew from the semi final at short notice, citing a knee injury, to effectively allow her sister a free pass to the final. Media speculation that this had been orchestrated by Venus and Serena’s father Richard Williams led to booing from the crowd that took on ugly racist overtones. As recently as this year, the racial slurs have continued, including some outrageously obnoxious comments from a Romanian TV presenter.

Both sisters’ determination to inject their own style into their tennis has also attracted criticism. Their choice of clothing and accessories that added expression to the somewhat staid world of tennis whites resulted in frequent and very personal attacks from media commentators.

21st century influencer

As well as coming through this adversity with a world leading record and her head held high, Serena’s determination to do things her way has also earned her place as one of the biggest style icons to emerge from the world of sport.

On top of her many sponsorship and endorsement deals, both Puma and Nike have released special product lines bearing her name. In 2004, Serena released her own jewelry brand, Aneres, and last year, she launched the Serena clothing line.

Yet her influence goes way beyond fashion. Serena has proved that anything is possible. Even now, in the twilight of her career, she shows that same determination that has been core to her success, and this is what makes her one of the most influential women of our generation.

You don’t need the wealth of Goldfinger to achieve the style of James Bond

When it comes to style icons from the movies, it is safe to say that women have a wider choice of influencers than men. Holly Golightly in Breakfast at Tiffany’s, Miranda Priestley and Andrea Sachs in The Devil Wears Prada, Carrie Bradshaw in Sex in the City, the list goes on and on. For the guys, however, the face might change, but there’s only one name worth mentioning as a true style icon. Bond. James Bond.

Bond is back – again

When Ian Fleming first created the character of James Bond, he was a somewhat one-dimensional character with no backstory at all until the later novels. But over the course of almost 60 years, we have come to know him through those who portrayed him on the big screen. Connery’s masculinity, Lazenby’s human frailties, Moore’s roguish charm, Dalton’s dangerous edge, Brosnan’s grim humor and Craig’s more introspective nature have all added new layers to the character.

Whoever takes over from Daniel Craig will add more to the mythology, but one theme has remained a constant from 1962’s Dr No to the 2020 release No Time to Die. That is Bond’s ability to look stylish and unflappable whether he’s at the gaming tables in Monte Carlo, out on the golf links or relaxing by the pool. Here, we’ll look at some of the memorable James Bond styles and find out how you can recreate them.

Formal wear

Perhaps the most iconic image in 007’s history is in Goldfinger when he emerges from the water, and removes his wetsuit to reveal a perfectly pressed tuxedo beneath. That’s one of dozens of occasions in which Bond has shown his ability to look the part among the high rollers at the casino. Now classical casino style is something that’s barely changed at all in 60 years, and the black tie and tuxedo is something that will never go out of fashion. That means this is actually one of the easier Bond fashions to emulate, but in this age of online gambling and local casinos in every town, is it a little over the top?

A tux is not necessarily the most versatile of investments, but the good news is it is not a prerequisite to achieve the Bond-style formal look. If you watch Daniel Craig in Skyfall from a fashionista’s perspective, you’ll see he dons several formal suits throughout the movie. Tom Ford collaborated with the directors to create the look you see, and both the rich blue suit shown early on and the classic charcoal pinstripe Bond wears later bear his label.

Pin stripes can cover up a multitude of sins if you don’t quite have Craig’s physique, balancing out any imperfections in your frame. Pair up the suit with a pale blue button down shirt, a dickie bow and your best formal shoes, and you’ll be welcomed with open arms in Monte Carlo!

On the links

Getting out on the golf course is a popular way to demonstrate your sartorial elegance, but it is also fraught with danger. Traditional golf attire can verge on the ridiculous if you don’t take care. This is perfectly demonstrated in Goldfinger, when Bond had a round of golf with the eponymous villain and put him squarely in his place in both the sporting and the fashion stakes.

While Gert Fröbe’s character went all out with the plus fours, Sean Connery’s Bond showed that less is more, with brown slacks, a pink shirt and branded sweater all topped off by that wonderful fedora. It’s a straightforward style to follow, and designers like Lyle & Scott are a good place to look, give their Scottish origins and specialization in golf wear.  There are plenty of options there with similar colors, but to bring the overall look into the 21st century, you might choose to swap the brown loafers favored by Bond for a pair of smart branded trainers. Whether you feel you can pull off the fedora as successfully as Sean Connery is a matter of personal choice. It’s a style accessory that you’ll never tire of wearing, and this handy guide will help you choose the right one.

At the beach

Plenty of Bond action takes place at or near the beach, and it is not always wetsuits and tuxedos. In Casino Royale Daniel Craig paid tribute to that famous Ursula Andress beach scene from Dr No, at the same time turning the whole concept on its head, by emerging from the sea in a pair of very short blue trunks.

It’s not something you could ever picture Connery, Moore, Dalton and the rest doing, but let’s face it, Daniel Craig has the physique to make it work. If you’re blessed with similar pecs and want to show them off, nobody can blame you for that. Suppliers like Boardies offer a range of swim shorts, and like Bond, they are as British as they come! For those of us who would need to tone up a little to feel comfortable with the look, try adding a stylish t-shirt and some good quality sneakers.

Casual wear

The life of the secret agent is not all about casinos, golf and the beach, which is one thing 007 has in common with the rest of us. There are numerous examples across the years of Bond blending into his surroundings in casual attire. But still, he always manages to do it with a sense of style.

Our inspiration here is derived from the man who really brought casual style to the Bond character at the turn of the millennium, Pierce Brosnan. The 2002 movie Die Another Day has not gone down as a classic with its lumbering “war on terror” plot and the frankly ridiculous invisible car. But it did allow Brosnan to show us Bond in a few different casual shirts. It’s a triumph of the “just thrown on” look, but still archetypally British.

It’s also probably the simplest of all these looks to recreate. Choose a dark blue buttoned shirt with open collar, and for summer months, you could even pair it with some denim shorts. A pair of tan boat shoes with no socks completes the picture.

Chic and Unique: How to Wear a Leather Jacket and Add Your Own Flare to It

Leather jackets are timeless. So, it can be hard to wear them in your own way. Here’s how to wear a leather jacket and let your personal style shine through.

In all the annals of style history, you would be hard-pressed to come up with a more iconic single item than the leather jacket. From the battlefront to the home front, the fashion elite to the rebels, and transcending time and nationalities, the leather jacket pops up everywhere.

In fact, it’s such a ubiquitous piece that you’d be equally hard-pressed to figure out how to wear a leather jacket while making the look your own.

Fortunately, a good leather jacket can be as versatile as it is timeless. It’s all just a matter of matching the statement that you want to make with the right style.

Leather Jacket Styles

Leather jackets as we know them have been around for more than a hundred years. In that length of time, numerous styles have come about, each of which comes with its own history and carries its own connotations.

You want to make the leather look your own. But in order to do that, you need to pick the right style to start with.

The Classic

The classic leather jacket is the most understated of the bunch. With minimal frills, the most important thing here is to find one that fits properly as the way it sits on your body is everything.

The classic is the most conservative option, and therefore the most flexible. It is equally at home in the streets as it is in the office. But it’s also the least ambitious and doesn’t have the same potential as other options.
It’s safe and reliable if a bit basic.

The Biker Jacket

The choice of rebels and iconoclasts everywhere, from Marlon Brando in The Wild One to the rough look of the Ramones.

As the name implies, these were the jacket of choice for early motorcycle enthusiasts. Their robust construction is excellent for shielding a rider from the wind, and provide some protection from road rash in the event of a crash. In fact, they’re still popular with riders of both motorcycles and dirt bikes for those very reasons.

But whether you ride or not, they’re still an iconic look, if a bit limited. They make for excellent streetwear but are not the most appropriate in business or formal settings. At best you’ll look ill-dressed, and at worst out-of-touch.

For that reason, they’re best reserved for environments where you can let your hair down and be yourself.

Flight and Bomber Jackets

These could technically be considered distinct styles, but as one came from the other, it felt appropriate to group them together.

Despite leather jackets being associated with motorcycling, they actually trace their existence back to the early days of aviation, though they served much the same purpose. Early airplanes didn’t have enclosed cockpits, so you can imagine the kind of cold and wind that pilots would have had to deal with.

Flight and bomber jackets come in a variety of cuts and styles. Many come with sheer lining, a holdover from when their function was to keep pilots from freezing in their cockpits. For this reason, they make excellent winter wear.

But there is a variety of lighter options that will serve you well throughout the fall and springtime. In any case, this is a classic style that is acceptable to wear in most situations. Depending on what you wear it with, it can be strictly casual or used to add some personality to your office wardrobe.

The Racer Jacket

Though not strictly European, I tend to consider these the overseas cousin of the American biker jacket. After all, they have much the same origin.

Recreational motorcycling really took off in the years after World War II, with young bikers both stateside and abroad finding the need for a jacket that was heavy enough to withstand the elements.

In contrast to the more elaborate biker jacket, though, the racer jacket is comparatively slim an minimalist. It is more fashionable in general and doesn’t carry the same rough and tumble connotations as its cousin.

For that reason, it is a very versatile piece and an excellent choice for someone who wants to make a statement but still look sophisticated at the same time.

How to Wear a Leather Jacket as Part of a Style Statement

When wearing a leather jacket, you really want it to be the core of your outfit. The jacket should do the talking, therefore, the rest of your look should be understated. However, understated doesn’t mean irrelevant.

The most important decision at this stage is if the look you’re going for is having you dress up or dress down. Are you going for a raw iconoclast vibe or is something smart to impress at the office?

With that in mind, you can start making style choices that complement the jacket you’ve chosen. For example, you might pair a biker jacket with dark, distressed denim, a blank shirt, and either high tops or some classic Doc Martens to create a grunge look.

On the other end of the spectrum, you can use a sportier leather jacket to add a little bit of style to your regular business casual. Just do a basic white shirt and tie, some grey slacks, then throw the jacket on top. Get a matching pair of Oxfords to complete a simple but sophisticated look.

Those are just some basic suggestions, but your imagination is really the only limitation here. Just remember to make choices that complement the statement your jacket makes, rather than distract from it.

A Style Essential That’s Not Going Anywhere

Leather jackets as we would recognize them first popped up around the turn of the last century. In that time they have cemented their place as a cornerstone piece in wardrobes around the world. As such, learning how to wear a leather jacket with style and tact is mandatory.

Fortunately, there is a look for practically everyone. From barroom rebel to boardroom smart, the right leather jacket can integrate itself into any environment while setting you apart from the crowd.

And in order to make sure that you stay on the cutting edge, always remember to keep up with 360 for all the latest on style, culture, and living on the edge.

Common Misconceptions When it comes to ESAs

Emotional support animals are becoming more popular and accepted as the stigmas surrounding mental health go away, and people prioritize self-care. Millions of people have mental conditions that go untreated for various reasons, whether they can’t afford regular therapy or do not have health insurance. Having a pet is an easy way to improve mental health for anyone, but it’s extra important for those with certain psychological disorders. Emotional support animals are pets that help someone with specific mental conditions, and there are many misconceptions about ESAs.

Emotional Support Animals are Service Animals

One of the biggest misconceptions when it comes to ESAs is confusing them for service animals. There are many differences between an emotional support animal and a service animal regarding their purpose and where they are allowed. An emotional support animal is a special type of companion animal for those with qualifying psychological conditions. They are different from service animals and therapy pets.

ESA Training

Emotional support animals help reduce stress and anxiety in their owners, through their calming presence. They do not need any formal training besides basic obedience to behave in public. Service animals, on the other hand, go through extensive training to perform specific tasks and functions for their disabled owners, who are typically physically disabled rather than mentally.  It’s much harder to get a service animal, as they must pass many certifications to qualify as a service animal.

ESA Rights

Another common misconception about emotional support animals is that they’re allowed to accompany their owners into non-pet friendly places like restaurants and grocery stores. Emotional support animals can live in housing that does not permit pets and can fly with their owners in the cabin of an aircraft without a pet fee. They have no additional rights in public areas. Service animals are allowed to accompany their disabled owners in any space open to the general public, including restaurants, movie theatres, schools, and museums.

Any Type of ESA can Fly with their Owner

While service animals can only be dogs and miniature horses, any animal can technically be an emotional support animal. Many therapists only recognize the therapeutic benefit of dogs and cats, however. For the safety and convenience of other passengers, many airlines are updating their policies to only allow cats and dogs as emotional support animals. Cats and dogs are more easily trainable. In the past, airlines permitted any type of ESA, but this is changing.

Emotional support animals are an important mental health tool for those with common psychological conditions like anxiety, depression, obsessive-compulsive disorder, and post-traumatic stress disorder. They help their owners cope with the symptoms of their disability, reducing stress and anxiety. Many people confuse emotional support animals with service animals, and there are many misconceptions about what an ESA is and where they are allowed to go with their owners. The two main rights emotional support animals have is housing and travel, where service animals are allowed to go nearly anywhere with their disabled owners and are highly trained to perform tasks.

Slick, sultry and laden with sass, “Favours” is the much-anticipated follow up to Nicole Millar’s 2018 debut album Excuse Me, which spawned the viral hit “Blindfolded” (8 million+ combined streams) and ARIA Gold-accredited single “Tremble” (11 million+ combined streams). Flanked by warped synths and Millar’s signature croons, “Favours” is a slice of unapologetic pop savagery and marks the debut of a bold new era.

Both cheeky yet deeply personal, the song addresses a darker period of Millar’s life where she encountered both loss and heartbreak.

“I had a bit of a rough year with a lot of changes,” she reveals. “‘Favours’ is a song about how I’ve got no praise, or money left for this person.”

It was only natural to navigate towards those she trusted, recruiting past collaborators Muki and Kilter to bring her message to life.

“[Muki and I] really hit it off and couldn’t stop talking about everything that had been going on in our lives. It just became clear to write a song about this person that had made my life dull… but have a cheeky bounce to it.”

The song also sees Millar embrace a darker, more mature edge which fans have yet to be privy.

“I’ve been calling my music smooth, dark chocolate with hints of mint,” she laughs.

‘Favours’ will be the first of a series of new material from Nicole Millar; it’s grittier, more candid and empowered than ever. In her own words: “Don’t let someone walk all over you and manipulate you. Do exactly what your gut says, and own it.”
