PREVIOUSLY UNSEEN PHOTOGRAPHS OF THE ROLLING STONES AND VINTAGE MEMORABILIA OPENING JUNE 5th at 6 PM
2120 S. Michigan Ave.
Chicago

The band has yet to officially announce when the U.S. tour shows will be rescheduled. However, if
you live in or near Chicago, or will be visiting in June for the Chicago Blues Festival in early
June,TIME IS ON YOUR SIDE!
Blues legend Willie Dixon’s Blues Heaven Foundation, which occupies the hallowed ground of the
world famous Chess Records building, at 2120 South Michigan Avenue, in association with Bob Bonis
Museum, Miami and Gallery Schuster, Berlin, are thrilled to announce THE ROLLING STONES AT
CHESS – a World Premiere Exhibition celebrating the 55th anniversary of the first time the Rolling
Stones recorded at Chess.
The exhibition will feature over 50 photographs, many of them unpublished and never seen before
by the public, from these historic recording sessions. There will also be photographs of the Stones
at the Palmer House hotel on their second visit to Chicago in November 1964. Historic collector
memorabilia will also be on display.
The photographs were taken by the late Bob Bonis, an accomplished photographer who also served
as the U.S. Tour Manager for both The Rolling Stones and The Beatles from 1964 through 1966
beginning with both famous bands’ first ever tours of America.

Limited edition portfolios and prints of photographs will be available for sale, with a portion of the
proceeds going to the Blues Heaven Foundation and their efforts to restore the recording studio in
the historic Chess Records building.
The association between the Rolling Stones and the city of Chicago and Chess Records is one of the
most important in the bands’ history and was the spark that connected its founding members,
leading to the formation of the band in 1962. Rolling Stones founder Brian Jones was a Blues
enthusiast who idolized Blues masters such as Muddy Waters, Howlin’ Wolf and other Blues masters
from Chicago.
Mick Jagger and Keith Richards, childhood friends, ran into each other on October 17, 1961 on the
train platform in Dartford, England. Keith, carrying his guitar, noticed that Mick had some record
albums under his arm, Rockin’ at the Hops by Chuck Berry, and The Best of Muddy Waters. Keith
learned that Mick had mail-ordered these albums directly from Chicago’s Chess Records, as they
were unavailable in England. Later they saw Brain Jones playing slide guitar (considered the first
British guitarist to play this style of Blues) and they soon joined forces and the Rolling Stones were
born.
During their first-ever tour of America, Phil Spector helped the Rolling Stones book to record at
Chess on June 10 and 11, 1964 where they met several of their heroes, including Muddy Waters,
who helped them carry their equipment into the studio, and Chuck Berry, who stopped by to
eavesdrop on their recording session, giving them his stamp of approval.
On their second and third tours of America they returned to again record at Chess, on November
10, 1964 and in May of 1965. No photos of those later session are known to exist. Bob Bonis’
photographs from this first visit to Chess are among the only known to exist and will be displayed
at the Blues Heaven Foundation for the entire month of June, 2019.
Larry Marion, curator of the Bob Bonis Archive, a renowned memorabilia expert, will be offering
free appraisals of any vintage Rolling Stones, Blues or other memorabilia during this exhibition.

SODY × BULLYING

EVEN POP STARS GET BULLIED – SODY SHARES HER STORY IN NEW SINGLE

Sporting long blonde hair, blue eyes, and pink sweater, SODY is not your conventional victim of bullying and has since turned it into a positive and personal experience by becoming a vocal advocate for anti-bullying in new single “The Bully.”  PRESS HERE TO WATCH THE VIDEO

Featuring a range of unenthusiastic schoolchildren posing for their school photos, “The Bully” presents itself as an ode to anyone picked on or feeling alone. “For my sanity, I needed to try to move on and find the positive in a negative situation to accept what happened and move on,” SODY told Celeb Mix. “I found my way to heal in the lyric ‘I’m glad it happened to me and not to you,’ and I hope it helps others find theirs too.”

Known to speak bluntly and honestly, SODY expresses raw emotion that allows audiences to relate. “It’s always going to be hard to show that vulnerability and be honest about yourself but the more people that show their authentic self, the more people will be confident to do so,” SODY told Thomas Bleach.

With a passion for standing against injustice, bullying and hate crime, SODY is just beginning to use her platforms to highlight the issues she cares about and plans to keep addressing these passions to help make the world a little less mean one song at a time.

Maritime Wine Trading Collective Celebrates 10 Years

Fine Wine Importer Maritime Wine Trading Collective Celebrates 10 Years

Embarks on a National Tour (May 13th – 31st)

Chris Nickolopoulos founded Maritime Wine Trading Collective in 2009 along with great friends from Graham Beck of South Africa and Jules Taylor Wines from New Zealand. With their help, as well as many others, Maritime’s business has grown from a small handful of family-owned wine producers to a national portfolio marketed in the US, as well as internationally.

Pictured: Maritime founder, Chris Nickolopoulos, r, and co-founder Elijah Pfister

With an eye toward greater market relevance beyond imports, Chris and his co-founder, Elijah Pfister released their first négociant wine from the Russian River Valley in 2010.  What followed was a string of successful bottlings and releases, which ultimately resulted in the acquisition of Nine North Wine Company based in Napa. In 2013 Maritime established distribution operations in California.  And then opened the doors to the tasting room, Maritime Wine Tasting Studio, in 2015.

Asked for his thoughts on the 10-year milestone, Chris du Toit, President of Graham Beck states, “Our relationship with founder and managing partner at Maritime, Chris Nickolopoulos, which goes back more than 12 years has been enormously rewarding. We are thankful for his personal dedication and wish him and the Maritime team a happy anniversary, and much success going forward.”

Jules Taylor and husband, George Elworthy, of Jules Taylor Wines echo the sentiment, “We look back with pride that we have grown together to arrive at this point via combined effort, acumen and Maritime’s thoughtfully-curated portfolio. All of us at Jules Taylor Wines are excited to see what the next decade of this collaboration and friendship will bring.”

In reflecting on the past ten years with Maritime and 25 years in the industry, Chris observes, “It can be fairly stated that almost everyone in this crazy trade has great wine to sell, but at the end of the day it’s the people who make all the difference, and I am grateful for the longstanding relationships and true friendships that we’ve made over the years. I thank all of our producers and the team at Maritime for a great first decade and hope people come to see us during our celebratory tour: great wines will be tasted, and new friends will be made.”

This month, Chris and Elijah kick off a four-city tour, to showcase their Nine North portfolio.  Along with them will be Pieter Ferreira, Pierre de Klerk, and Edwin Olivieri of Graham Beck Wines; Jules Taylor of Jules Taylor Wines and George Elworthy of The Better Half.

May 13th – 17th New York and New Jersey.

May 20th – 24th Chicago.

May 28th – 29th Dallas/Ft. Worth and Houston.

May 30th – 31st Austin and San Antonio.

About Graham Beck

Graham Beck was founded in 1983 and the family-owned winery has become one of South Africa’s leading and best-loved cellars as well as an internationally recognized sparkling wine producer. The Graham Beck Cap Classique collection of wines include Non-Vintage Brut, Brut Rosé and Bliss Demi Sec; Vintage: Blanc de Blancs, Brut Zero and Brut Rosé, and the iconic Cuvée Clive.

About Jules Taylor Wines

Jules Taylor Wines emerged in 2001 as a little moonlighting project making a mere 400 cases. Five harvests, two children and many awards later, the project had grown some serious legs. Still family-owned and operated by Jules and her husband George, Jules Taylor Wines is firmly rooted in Marlborough.

About The Better Half

When George Elworthy decided to dust off his winemaking hat to create a Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Noir from Marlborough, a friendly rivalry arose. His wife, Jules Taylor, is also a winemaker with her own well-established brand and so The Better Half seemed like the perfect tongue in cheek moniker to attach to his new project.

About Nine North Wine Company

As circumspect négociants, Nine North Wine Company proprietors, Chris Nickolopoulos and Elijah Pfister, have exclusive access to wines from top-notch California wineries and vineyard plots. They blend and finish various lots that they feel overdeliver for the price point and are geared toward every day enjoyment.  Nine North includes such brands as Twenty Bench, Rock & Vine, Chasing Lions and Lan-Yap Rosé.

Released just last week, “Alligator” has turned heads with NME praising it as having a “bombastic and driving sound” and Line of Best Fit calling it “undeniably catchy.” In addition “Alligator” was the #1 greatest gainer in Alternative and #1 most added in Triple A Radio receiving strong support from those who have been waiting for the band’s return.

On “Alligator” co-vocalist Nanna Bryndis Hilmarsdóttir has taken center stage on the song not only as the lead vocalist but also wrote the track as well. On the empowering anthem and what is coming next for the band, they noted, “We are so excited about Alligator, the first release from our upcoming album. The song very much speaks to the excitement and energy that we feel about being back. We can’t wait to share more music and see everyone again.”
FEVER DREAM was co-produced by Rich Costey (MUSE, Vampire Weekend, Chvrches) and is the band’s third studio album.

OF MONSTERS AND MEN went from the talk of Iceland to the top of the global conversation on their 2011 debut, My Head Is An Animal. Not only did the record go platinum, but it also produced an international smash in the form of “Little Talks. The breakthrough single earned a quintuple-platinum certification from the RIAA, made history as “the first song by an Icelandic band to cross 1 billion streams on Spotify, and landed the band performance on Saturday Night Live. The group appeared on official soundtracks for franchises such asThe Hunger Games, The Walking Dead, and Beat Bugs, to name a few. In addition to performing at festivals such as Coachella, Lollapalooza, Firefly, and beyond, they supported Florence + the Machine on a high-profile arena tour. In the midst of this rapid rise, 2015’s Beneath The Skin bowed in the Top 3 of the Billboard Top 200 and the band starred in an episode of HBO’s Game of Thrones in the same year.

Finally, in celebration of the new music, the band has confirmed the television debut performance of “Alligator” on The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon on (NBC) on May 15th.

ToyMakerz

Season finale of “ToyMakerz,” Dean Cain (Dave’s friend) stopped by the ToyMakerz shop in North Carolina to get David Ankin’s advice on a new Camaro build that he’s contemplating and they get into a bit of fun/ trouble out on the open road in this episode. David Ankin stars on A&E’s show ToyMakerz in it’s third season. Batman and Superman unite! True fact, David Ankin started off as a stunt man as Batman at Universal.

There was a cop that pulled them over for pushing the speed limit and wound up getting star struck. The cop asked for a photo also.

David also reveals in this episode his most fierce car build yet.

Here are David’s ideas on the finale car that airs on the final episode as well:

Description- ’41 Willys Coupe Exhibition Car

-Pro-Charged, Nitrous-fed LS with 1300 HP; It’s an assault on your senses.

-44 inches of rear tire, 3 brake systems; She’s one angry, fire-breathing monster right on the edge of out of control.

-It was designed to give fans the experience that I live every day.

As you know, the season finale of ToyMakerz was this last Sunday morning on History! This is the episode-specific teaser.

Season Recap:

I first felt “the itch” when I was a kid, growing up in the heart of motor country in Indiana and Michigan. Watching my dad, a skilled car fabricator nicknamed “The Iron Man” for his impressive metalworking skills, I yearned to build my very own custom rides. And so I learned to tinker and create my very first custom Toyz!

I’d modify my bike – once I extended the front fork by hammering together two regular bike forks – my very first Chopper! The funny thing is, even though my father is a welder, it didn’t occur to me to ask him to weld the forks together! Trust me, that did not end well… Next up was a motorized dirt bike that I’d tune and modify with any spare dollars I could earn mowing lawns or helping in the garage. Naturally, this road led to fast cars, motorcycles and a passion for driving – aka, playing with (and breaking) my Toyz.

Straight out of high school I scored what I considered my dream job at the time – doing live stunts as Batman for Six Flags in Texas! For 3 years, I performed trick shows 6-days-a-week. It was a blast. But eventually I had to grow up…. just a little!

So I moved to Myrtle Beach , where I discovered a knack for live venues and built up several bars. This career introduced me to a wide array of seriously impressive vehicle builders and designers, further fueling “the itch”, and it allowed me to put away some money for my true passion.

In 2014 I finally made the leap into full-time toy-making. Partnering up with David Young, a sharp businessman who shared my love for motorsports and the manufacturing process, we launched ToyMakerz LLC in Reidsville, NC. After a few years of research and design, we decided to share our rides with the world and launched ToyMakerz the TV show on Velocity. What followed has been a wild, non-stop ride atop a cannonball.

Seasons 1 and 2 were highly acclaimed and featured custom ToyMakerz creations like the GPS (a 3/4 scale chain-driven personal supercar), the SB (a mean, mashed up truck with a NASCAR-level engine) and the Beast (a fully custom, mid-engine formula car, winner of the Magnaflow People’s Choice Award at SEMA). Along the way, we met more and more incredible toymakers, of all types, and continued to grow our skillset .

Now airing on HISTORY Channel and FYI, in partnership with A+E Networks, ToyMakerz Season 3 has allowed us to take our toymaking to another level. Here’s an overview of what we’ve built:

ToyMakerz S3 Episode 1 – ’71 Charger – A Richard Petty Tribute

We take on a project for a Richard Petty mega-fan to overhaul a signature 70’s Charger “Petty Style” and setup the surprise of a lifetime – an appearance The King himself.

ToyMakerz S3 Episode 2 – Capital City Bike Fest and Car Show

Teaming up with Epic Moto Co, We’ll strip weight, and increase horsepower, while converting an American V-Twin bagger into a street fighter to be revealed at the Capital City Bike Fest and Car Show in Raleigh, NC, one of our favorite annual events.

ToyMakerz S3 Episode 3 – ’56 International Shop Truck and GoPro Race Day

Every shop needs a great shop truck. We were stunned to find a perfect ’56 International flatbed truck that somehow still runs.

ToyMakerz S3 Episode 4 – Misfit Toyz Invitational

We invited some of our top fabricator friends and ToyMakerz Nation standouts to create and race their own one-of-a-kind Misfit Toyz. It rained cats & dogs, making for one of the funniest events I’ve ever seen.

ToyMakerz S3 Episode 5 – ToyMakerz Drag Races – VW Style

When my buddy Scott Sain challenged me to a VW Drag Race, at the 2018 VW Germanaire drag race at the South Carolina Motorplex, how could I possibly say no?

ToyMakerz S3 Episode 6 – Challenger Mods for Sarah Edwards

Jet car pilot Sarah Edwards needed a daily driver. A perfect project for ToyMakerz! We’re thinking American muscle…

ToyMakerz S3 Episode 7 – Kraken Monster Truck Debut and Thunder Roadster Road Race

We put the finishing touches on a remarkable new monster truck, The Kraken, and help our good buddy, land-speed record holder Lee Shirts, tune his Thunder Roadster for a race at gorgeous Virginia International

Raceway (VIR).

ToyMakerz S3 Episode 8 ’41 Willys Coupe – David’s New Exhibition Car

Now this Toy is truly ridiculous. We envisioned and built a completely out-of-the box , over-the-top, exhibition car based on a ’41 Willys Coupe that can make tracks like no other car out there. To top things off, Dean Cain stops by for a visit, as do our top 3 Show Us Your Rides finalists.

It was truly an awesome season. But, now that all is said and done and we’ve had a few months to soak things in, I’m starting to feel that itch again.

PUMA X Pirelli: the new “Replicat -X”

FAST AS A BULLET, AERODYNAMIC AS A RACING CAR

PUMA and Pirelli introduce the new “Replicat -X” inspired by modern sports cars.

  • Pirelli and PUMA join forces to develop a revolutionary new shoe inspired by motorsport.
  • A completely fresh silhouette made with a sole and upper construction that helps you to control the grip off and on track.
  • The Replicat-X marks a new PUMA motorsport design philosophy bringing racing to the road.

You know the sound of a racing car? It’s the sound of power. A legend in the tire industry, Pirelli dominates that power both on and off the track. And now you can feel the excitement of the race track at your feet.

For the first time, PUMA and Pirelli join forces to bring control to your feet. Combining Pirelli’s CINTURATO Blue tire, used at the top level of racing with Puma’s motorsport heritage, the new Replicat-X is designed to perform like a modern supercar, bringing the track to the street.

The Replicat-X sports an “oversized” full rubber outsole, with a comfortable molded sock-liner. Pirelli’s unique CINTURATO Blue tread pattern on the sole – used to generate maximum traction at wet races – provides grip and control for the power under your feet.

Fast as a bullet, aerodynamic as a racing car, the shoe’s upper features a perforated Microfiber-suede on the vamp, with lateral mesh panels for breathability, providing the perfect fit to own the road.

In AW19 PUMA will bring the track to the street, influencing a new generation inspired by the hustle and roar of racing in their style and swagger on the streets. We will create a powerful and relevant new look and feel for PUMA Motorsports. We will break through the ordinary, tear down the trackside barriers and accelerate into the streets at full throttle!

The new Replicat – X in the first colorway will be pre-launched from May 15 on puma.com

How to Plan a Successful Vacation with Your Other Half

Travel cannot only allow you to soak up different cultures and experience new sights and sounds, but it can potentially bring you and your spouse closer together. However, the destination you pick, the itinerary you create and the activities you choose can determine whether a break is a success or failure.

To ensure you both look back on a trip with much fondness, read the below advice on how to plan a successful vacation with your other half.

Choose a Destination to Suit You Both

While you might have your heart set on a destination, you should never push your idea onto your other half, or you could completely ruin their travel experience. Instead, you must choose a location that suits both your needs, which will ensure have an unforgettable time together.

Select the Right Mode of Transportation

Once you have chosen a destination together, you will next need to select the right mode of transport for you both. For example, if you are enjoying a vacation at home, you could jump into your car and enjoy a fun road trip.

If, however, you are traveling overseas or to the opposite end of the country, browse the market for the best flight times for your needs. However, if you are heading to Texas, you could add a little romance and luxury into your journey with a private jets Dallas flight.

Take Advantage of Travel Perks

Are you and your other half celebrating a milestone anniversary or honeymoon? Inform hotel staff once you arrive at your accommodation. As a result, you might receive:

• a complimentary room upgrade

• a bottle of champagne

• a free meal at the hotel’s restaurant

Enjoy Some Alone Time

Conflict can easily arise when you spend every waking minute together. Rather than allowing tension to bubble, it is beneficial to enjoy a little time apart on vacation.

For example, take a walk to the store alone, enjoy a dip in the pool while your partner reads a book, or go for a siesta to recharge your batteries. The short break away will also provide some time to miss your other half, so you will feel happier when you come back together.

Prioritize Activities

It is likely you and your partner will have a list of activities you want to experience at a destination. To ensure you each get to tick an attraction off your bucket list, you must both state the places or things you would like to see/do during a getaway. You must then prioritize attractions to maximize your time and prevent conflict.

Conclusion

A vacation will provide you and your partner with an opportunity to strengthen your connection, which can help your relationship to stand the test of time.

However, to enjoy a getaway together, you must choose your transportation wisely, take a short break from each other from time to time, and be willing to compromise. If you follow the above top tips, it is likely you will enjoy a romantic, hassle-free vacation from start to finish.

Rolls-Royce × Sotheby’s

● The House of Rolls-Royce marks 115 years of pinnacle luxury at event with Sotheby’s

● The two brands celebrated the occasion with a spectacular themed five-course dinner held in the newly expanded and re-imagined galleries at Sotheby’s headquarters in New York City

● Rolls Royce marked the occasion with the announcement of a one-of-a-kind 2020 Rolls-Royce Phantom to be offered this fall in a Sotheby’s online-only auction in partnership with RM Sotheby’s, the world’s largest auction house for investment-quality automobiles

May 4th 2019 marks the 115th anniversary of the historic first meeting between the Honourable Charles Rolls and Sir Henry Royce at the Midland Hotel in Manchester, UK. This first gathering lead to the birth of what has become the most influential luxury brand in history, Rolls-Royce. To mark this occasion Rolls-Royce Motor Cars celebrated the evening with an exclusive dinner at Sotheby’s in their newly expanded and re-imagined 90,000+ square foot galleries in New York City. The event was a gathering of two historic brands who combined possess nearly four centuries of experience in providing the word’s elite with luxury client service. During the immersive, interactive dinner, Rolls-Royce showcased its family of motor cars and announced an online-only auction of a custom Rolls Royce Phantom to be offered this fall.

The House of Rolls-Royce revealed initial sketches of a stunning Bespoke Phantom. While every Phantom that is delivered from Goodwood carries with it a significant level of Bespoke craftsmanship from marquetry, hand-worked leather to precious works of art within the Phantom’s unique Gallery, this one-of-one commission celebrating the 115th anniversary of Rolls-Royce includes an inspired color combination themed in red, including an original hand-crafted leather work of art within the Gallery.

“While Roll-Royce motor cars have a history of crossing the block at RM Sotheby’s, tonight we are looking to the future of the brand. The eight generation Phantom will carry the longest running name in luxury motoring into a new era. Built on the ‘architecture of luxury,’ this new Phantom commission offers one special owner the chance to enjoy a motor car that is bound to be a classic over the next 115 years,” said Martin Fritsches, President and CEO of Rolls-Royce Motor Cars Americas.

“We are honoured that Rolls-Royce chose to partner with Sotheby’s and RM Sotheby’s to offer this incredible Bespoke Phantom. It is far more than a car – it is a work of art. In a testament to our commitment to innovation, we are excited that it will be offered through our online-only auction platform, which continues to be a driving force of our business and the channel of choice for new bidders and buyers,” said David Goodman, Sotheby’s Chief Digital Development & Marketing Officer.

The new Phantom will be Sotheby’s offered this fall by Sotheby’s in an online-only auction on Sothebys.com and delivered though one of Rolls-Royce Motor Car’s 44 retail partners in the Americas. Last year the company delivered 4107 commissions for a record year of growing the family of clients.
