Listen to Inner Monologue Part I HERE

On the heels of multiple sold out shows, GRAMMY® Award-nominated multi platinum singer and songwriter JULIA MICHAELS will extend her first-ever headline show—THE INNER MONOLOGUE TOUR—with a month of dates this fall. Given the widespread fan demand, she will once again canvas North America with headline gigs coast-to-coast. The next leg kicks off October 16 in Tempe, AZ at the Marquee Theatre and concludes November 16 at Vogue Theatre in Vancouver, BC. Tickets go on-sale this Friday!

Get them HERE.

In March, THE INNER MONOLOGUE TOUR showcased her power as a live performer and solidified her as an impressive concert draw. She sold out venues in Chicago, Seattle, San Diego, Boulder, and Tulsa, to name a few. MICHAELS is also currently supporting P!NK on the U.S. installment of The Beautiful Trauma World Tour.

On a nightly basis, she’s bringing her debut, INNER MONOLOGUE PART I, to life on stage—and bringing fans closer than ever.

GRAMMY® Award-nominated singer and songwriter Julia Michaels has transformed the pop music landscape not only from behind-the-scenes as one of the most in-demand songwriters, but in the spotlight as a solo artist as well. Her rapid rise can be attributed to identifiable honesty in every lyric, as exemplified in her triple-platinum selling debut single “Issues”.  In 2018, she garnered GRAMMY® Awards nominations in the categories of “Best New Artist” and “Song of the Year” for “Issues,” which amassed nearly 2 billion streams worldwide. Continuing that success, “Issues” notably became “the top-selling debut single by an artist in 2017,” and placed as the only solo female composition on Variety’s “30 Most Consumed Songs of 2017.”

As a songwriter, MICHAELS has co-written 21 titles that have charted on the Billboard Hot 100, eleven of which have hit the Top 40, including “Issues.”  Those songwriting credits include smashes like Justin Bieber’s “Sorry,” Selena Gomez’s “Good for You” [feat. A$AP Rocky] & “Hands To Myself,” and Hailee Steinfeld’s “Love Myself.”  She’s also written titles for Britney Spears, Gwen Stefani, Linkin Park, Ed Sheeran, John Legend, P!NK, Maroon 5, Jessie Ware, Janelle Monae, Keith Urban, Shawn Mendes and more.

Since her debut as a solo artist, MICHAELS has built an enviable touring resume, joining artists like Maroon 5, Keith Urban, Shawn Mendes, Niall Horan, and P!NK- who she is currently touring the U.S. with through May 2019, around the globe.

MICHAELS most recently surprised fans with the release of INNER MONOLOGUE PART I.  Upon arrival, the EP debuted at #1 on the iTunes Pop Albums Chart and #5 Overall iTunes Albums Chart. The success of the EP prompted MICHAELS first-ever headline tour, “The Inner Monologue Tour,” which has sold out dates across the country.

The group will release its first album since 2009 and one of 2019’s most anticipated records, Happiness Begins, on June 7 via Republic Records.

This week, “Sucker” makes history as the band’s first number one at Top 40 radio, according to Mediabase. Simultaneously, their newest single “Cool” has quickly ascended into the Top 20 at the format, where it continues to climb.  The songs have taken pop culture by storm, becoming the #1 and #2 greatest gainers at the format last week.

“Sucker” now exceeds 380 million global streams to date. During release week, it clinched #1 on Apple Music, #1 on Spotify, and #1 on iTunes in North America.  Globally, it became #1 on Apple Music, #1 on YouTube, #1 on Twitter, and #2 on Spotify as well as the #1 Streaming Song and #1 Digital Song. Speaking of making history, the rollout of “Sucker” marked “the first time a band debuted at #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart this century.  Continuing the runaway success, “Cool” notched 45 million global streams and soared to #1 on iTunes Overall Top Songs Chart and Top Music Videos Chart.

Next up, the Jonas Brothers take the stage for what promises to be two unforgettable performances at the Billboard Music Awards May 1 and Saturday Night Live May 11.

Also in the works is the Jonas Brothers new documentary. Last month they announced a partnership with Amazon Studios, Philymack, and Federal Films—a division of Republic Records—to release the upcoming documentary about the band. It’s set to premiere exclusively on Amazon Prime Video in more than 200 territories.

Happiness Begins June 7…

GGBAILEY at the Geneva International Motor Show

The Geneva International Motor Show (GIMS) also known as the Geneva Auto Show wrapped up Sunday March 17th, and RACEMARK (GGBAILEY’s parent company) was there showcasing its lines of OEM-quality car mats and accessories. Highlights from the show included the plug-in hybrid Jeep Renegade, the TESLA Model S3 Station Wagon and the Bugatti Baby. Many of the stunning concept cars feature custom-designed car mats by RACEMARK.

A few of our favorite cars from the show:

  • Automobili Pininfarina Battista

  • Aston Martin Vanquish Vision

  • Tesla Model 3S Station Wagon

  • McLaren 720S Spider

  • Bugatti La Voiture Noire

Automobili Pininfarina Battista

It’s the most powerful street-legal car ever designed and built in Italy, and it’s electric. Powered by its Rimac electric powertrain, the new hyper EV produces 1874bhp from four electric motors and will get you to 186mph from a standing start in under 12 seconds. No more than 150 will be made, and the price is expected to be around 2.3 million dollars. The Automobili Pininfarina’s Battista has a top speed that exceeds 217mph, making it one of the fastest cars on the planet. RACEMARK created the custom car mats specially for this incredible concept car.

Aston Martin Vanquish Vision

The Aston Martin Vanquish Vision concept car is Aston Martin’s first mid-engined production supercar. Powered by a newly developed turbocharged V-6 engine,  this lightweight concept supercar built on a bonded aluminum structure was designed to give Ferrari and McLaren some fierce competition.

Tesla Model 3S Station Wagon

In sharp contrast to the supercars at the Geneva Motor Show, was a dark green station wagon. This one of a kind model, designed by Niels van Roij Design, was a Tesla Model S converted into a station wagon. Niels van Roij Design designed the wagon as a hatchback keeping a minimal side window profile and giving the resulting car a sleek look. Although it doesn’t have the cargo room of a traditional station wagon, it easily makes up for it with plenty of style.

McLaren 720S Spider

Unusually light and aerodynamic, the MSO 720S Spider features a unique paint job along key aerodynamic surfaces such as the front splitter, hood air intakes and side panels. It boasts a top speed is 212mph with the roof up and can go from 0-62 in just 2.9 seconds thanks to its twin-turbocharged 4.0-litre V8.

Bugatti La Voiture Noire

Bugatti’s new La Voiture Noire, costing a cool $12.5 million, pushes all the boundaries. Based on the Bugatti’s Chiron, ‘The Black Car’ demonstrates how the French hypercar company is shifting toward bespoke manufacturing to satisfy the world’s most powerful and imaginative car collectors.

Mat Kerekes Releases Album “Ruby”

Toledo, OH singer-songwriter Mat Kerekes has released his new album Ruby, via Black Cement Records. The album is available digitally HERE and physically HERE starting today.

Best known as lead vocalist of celebrated alt rock band Citizen, Kerekes presents his softer side and showcases his versatility as a singer-songwriter on his new solo material. Incorporating elements of pop and alternative, Ruby boasts massive choruses, dynamic arrangements, and infectious melodies.

Kerekes began writing and demoing Ruby at home with no particular goal in mind besides self-expression. However once longtime collaborator Will Yip heard the demos, he asked that Kerekes consider releasing them on his newly formed Elektra Music Group sub-label Black Cement Records. Kerekes tracked most of the instruments himself, and produced and engineered Ruby in a studio that he built with his brother in his garage.

Since I recorded and produced the album myself, without having anyone talking in my ear, it honestly makes me feel more personally attached to it. It feels like mine,” shared Kerekes.

Ruby follows 2016’s Luna & The Wilde Blue Everything as Kerekes’ fourth solo album. Kerekes began unveiling songs from the album late last year with the release of title track “Ruby”. In February, he shared the album’s anthemic second single “Diamonds”. Kerekes collaborated with director Johnny Chew on music videos for both tracks, and is expected to release an additional music video for “Hawthorne” in the coming weeks.

Last month, Kerekes wrapped a headline tour that saw him debut songs from Ruby to sold-out rooms across North America. This evening, he will celebrate the release of the album with a hometown in-store performance at Toledo, OH’s Culture Clash Records. Upcoming live dates and ticket information can be found HERE

Daydream Masi Drops “Nightlife”

Daydream Masi drops new track, “Nightlife” as part of his new forthcoming project with Interscope Records.

Newcomer and Ohio naJve, Daydream Masi, is increasingly favored for his sensiJve electronic, soul and hip hop-influenced sound. The newest signee to Interscope Records became known for breakout tracks “Marguerite” and “Eucalyptus Tree” which have received 443K and 250K listens, respecJvely on Soundcloud.

In “Nightlight”, Masi croons “But I know that I got you and I know I got some work to do,” over a high- energy variety of beats. Masi conJnues to sing his soulful, emoJonal lyrics, “I’m in hell without you,” with a complex and tropical producJon aiming to be this summer’s passionate, yet energeJc ballad.

He is set forth to release his new project, “Slow Rage”.

Jeremy Zucker and Chelsea Cutler “You Were Good To Me”

Today, singers, songwriters and producers Jeremy Zucker and Chelsea Cutler team up to release their new single, “you were good to me,” out now via Republic Records. The song also arrives with the video—watch it HERE!

LISTEN TO “you were good to me” HERE!

Of “you were good to me,” Chelsea says, “Jeremy and I stayed in a cabin in Connecticut last year where we wrote our song ‘better off.’ That trip inspired some of our best writing, so we decided to go back a year later. ‘you were good to me’ is the first song we wrote up there and showcases, to me at least, how well we bring out the most honest artistry in each other.”

Jeremy chimes in, saying, “The cabin was basically a recording studio built in an old carriage house. The walls were lined with vintage guitars, keyboards, drums, and loads of random items that we ended up putting in our song. In between writing sessions, we would hike, watch movies, or just talk about life. The music really represents how we felt at that cabin: inspired, wholesome, and introspective.”

Recently finishing his sold out European and UK
anything, anywhere Tour and her sold out North American Sleeping With Roses II Tour, fans can expect more new music from Jeremy and Chelsea this year.

When
Jeremy Zucker and Chelsea Cutler joined forces for “you were good to me,” it was much more than two rising stars combining their natural-born talents; it was two friends sharing their personal conversations (set to music) with the rest of the world. Over the past few years, Zucker has galvanized a dedicated fan base with his early independently-released EPs and continued with his breakout singles “talk is overrated” ft. blackbear in 2017 and “all the kids are depressed” in 2018. He’s continued his upward mobility by outdoing himself with “comethru,” which has reached a staggering 80 million Spotify streams and 35 million video views. Meanwhile, Cutler has become a force, starting with a series of covers on Soundcloud that gave way to her own self-written and self-produced work, like 2017’s “Your Shirt,” which cracked the Spotify charts with over 62 million streams, and her two-part Sleeping With Roses mixtape series in 2018. Both artists have been paving the way in their respective lanes; however, their union was serendipitous, happening in 2016 at a college neither of them attended: The University of Connecticut. Fast forward three years and two signings with Republic Records, there was no better time to make music together. Returning to a cabin in Connecticut where they first collaborated on their duet single “better off,” Zucker and Cutler wrote and recorded “you were good to me,” a reflective piece on lost love.

Fashion Tech Forum 2019

By Bob Cal

Industry leaders delivered rich dialogues on the ‘Generation Z’ consumer, racial and gender inequality in the business world, shifts in retail consumer behavior and more during this year’s Fashion Tech Forum. Voices from CNN, Vogue Magazine, Kate Spade and dozens of up and coming businesses lent their voices to today’s young entrepreneurs with their personal stories and wisdom from their respective industries.

Quynh Mai, founder of Moving Image & Content, shared how she shifted her entire discipline of fashion and creative direction to a more instant and digitally focused ethic to communicate more intimately with ‘Generation Z’. Many speakers that day spoke of a new wave of culture and communication and how today’s entrepreneur must respond to a generation that was born with technology.

As young entrepreneurs, Sophia Bush and Nia Batts, founders and owners of Detroit Blows, and Kwame Onwachi, author of A Young Black Chef, told their stories about being women and a person of color in the business world and how they are working towards equality in the field. They shared that the digital consumer is the most socially conscious, liberal and dollar conscious of all consumer groups, urging that brand’s most address those constituents to with that in mind.

This year’s Fashion Tech Forum emphasized leadership and being a visionary, how being a successful entrepreneur is synonymous with innovation. This innovation comes from listening to consumer trends and delivering your business acquisitions with technology, social consciousness and transparency, as was the direction of the forum.

Claude Lévi-Strauss Biography

Academic, writer, figure of melancholy, aesthete – Claude Lévi-Strauss (1908-2009) not only transformed his academic discipline, he also profoundly changed the way that we view ourselves and the world around us.

In this award-winning biography, historian Emmanuelle Loyer recounts Lévi-Strauss’s childhood in an assimilated Jewish household, his promising student years as well as his first forays into political and intellectual movements. As a young professor in 1935 Lévi-Strauss left Paris for São Paulo to teach sociology. His rugged expeditions into the Brazilian hinterland, where he discovered the Amerindian Other, made him into an anthropologist. The racial laws of the Vichy regime would force him to leave France yet again — this time for the US in 1941, where he became Professor Claude L. Strauss, to avoid confusion with the jeans manufacturer.

His return to France, after the war, ushered in the period during which he produced his greatest works: several decades of intense labour in which Lévi-Strauss reinvented anthropology, establishing it as a discipline that offered a new view on the world. In 1955, Tristes Tropiques offered indisputable proof of this the world over. During those years, Lévi-Strauss became something of a national monument, a celebrity intellectual in France. But he always claimed his perspective was a “view from afar,” enabling him to deliver incisive and subversive diagnoses of our waning modernity.

Loyer’s outstanding biography tells the story of a true intellectual adventurer whose unforgettable voice invites us to rethink questions of the human and the meaning of progress. Lévi-Strauss was less of a modern than he was our own great and disquieted contemporary.

The Author

Emmanuelle Loyer is Professor of Contemporary History at Sciences-Po, Paris. Her biography of Lévi-Strauss was awarded the Prix Femina essai in 2015.

Reviews

“The inspiration that continues to spring forth from the work of Lévi-Strauss is a mystery to many anthropologists. He has told us of the many influences on his work and commentators have argued for yet others but they don’t really account for his extraordinary originality and independence. Emmanuelle Loyer’s thorough account of his life and work may help us resolve this wonderful puzzle.”  – Maurice Bloch, London School of Economics

“Emmanuelle Loyer has produced a meticulously-researched, intelligent, and sensitive biography worthy of her subject, one of the greatest Francophone intellectuals of the 20th century. Critical yet generous, her portrait of Claude Lévi-Strauss rings true and comes alive on the page.” – Michael Harkin, University of Wyoming
