Trevor Lewis Out With Broken Foot

By Reid Urban

The injuries keep continuing to pile up for the Los Angeles Kings and today, they lost another player to a long-term injury.

Forward Trevor Lewis broke his foot in morning skate on Friday and is out on a week-to-week basis. This news comes on the heels of the team recalling goalie Cole Kehler to replace Peter Budaj, who is battling an illness. Kehler will back up Petersen tonight and perhaps the next few games.

Losing Lewis is a big blow for the Kings. Despite his lackluster offensive numbers on the season, he is a big key forward for them. He averages around 14 minutes a night and he is regularly on the penalty kill. His stats this season were also in the positive, despite him only having three points in 17 games. He is still very reliable and in tough situations, interim head coach Willie Desjardins has put him out there.

In his absence, newcomer Carl Hagelin will most likely pick up the penalty kill minutes. However, it’s still unclear who might get the increased opportunity up front, as Hagelin may not be the immediate answer beyond the penalty kill.

Hopefully, Lewis can recover and get back onto this team before any more damage can be done. However, his injury and the recent trade of Tanner Pearson may either be bad news or it could allow younger and more excited rookies to get into the lineup and produce.

CASH MONEY RECORDS x TURKEY GIVEAWAY

Continuing a 22-year holiday tradition, Cash Money Records will host its annual turkey giveaway in New Orleans, LA on Tuesday, November 20th. Once again, label Co-Founders and brothers Ronald “Slim” Williams and Bryan “Birdman” Williams return to their hometown in order to give back, uplift, and spread hope, spirit, and cheer for the holidays. Full details can be found below.

For the Williams Brothers, this charity stands out as a cornerstone of the label’s core mission and values. Given their lifelong commitment to philanthropy, they co-founded 501(c)(3) organization The Johnny and Gladys Williams Foundation—named after their parents. Among many initiatives, the Foundation presents the turkey giveaway, providing families throughout the community with a bountiful Thanksgiving meal every year. As a result of their work, the company remains a paragon in the community.

With the William Brothers on-site, this will be the fifth year that Cash Money hosts the event at New Home Full Gospel Ministries (1605 Carondelet Street; New Orleans, LA 70130) from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Walmart generously donates the turkeys, and Rouses provides the sides and fixings. Birdman’s newest innovation Stunna Brand, Inc. comes aboard as a sponsor for the first time. Radio station Q93 kicks out the jams all day, and NOLA Games On Wheels engages families with entertainment and video games.

Back for the fifth time, the turkey giveaway includes full-service health screenings by Ochsner Health Systems. Services span testing for glucose, cholesterol, and blood pressure, dental care, eye exams, quick look EKG’s, stroke assessment, and more. Attendees may receive counseling and information on heart healthy diet, kidney disease, pre-natal care, and diabetes as well as smoking cessation programs and healthy recipe books.

Also, for the fifth year, Dr. David Liang [Director, Stanford Center for Inherited Cardiovascular Disease] and his staff administer Aortic Disease and Marfan Syndrome heart screenings.

The Turkey Giveaway is something we’ve been doing since the beginning of Cash Money,” states Ronald ‘Slim’ Williams. “The moment we made it, we knew we had to lift up our hometown. It was always a part of the label’s vision and brand from day one. Over the years, it’s become something the community can rely on and trust. To me, that’s our greatest accomplishment. We’ve received so many blessings, we want to share those with the city we love and call home.”

Birdman continues, “You could take away the success, the money, and everything. It doesn’t matter. What matters most is the people who were with you since day one: your neighborhood, your friends, and your family. We’ve never forgotten how New Orleans put us first. The Turkey Giveaway is a way to say ‘Thank you’ to everybody we love. Out of everything, it’s what we want people to associate Cash Money with. This defines our legacy.”

Momentum Generation Debuts Dec. 11

HBO Sports takes a deep dive into the fascinating, constantly evolving world of surfing, exploring how a group of dedicated teenagers changed the sport and its culture in the 1990s, when MOMENTUM GENERATION debuts TUESDAY, DEC. 11 (10:00-11:45 p.m. ET/PT), exclusively on HBOThe film will also be available on HBO On Demand, HBO NOW, HBO GO and partners’ streaming platforms.

From Emmy® and Peabody winners Jeff and Michael Zimbalist of All Rise Films, the HBO Sports presentation, in association with Priority Pictures and Sundance Productions, is executive produced by Robert Redford and Laura Michalchyshyn of Sundance Productions alongside Karen Lauder and Greg Little of Priority Pictures. Justine Chiara, Lizzie Friedman, Tina Elmo and Colby Gottert produced.

In the 1960s, surfing in America was known primarily as a California- and Hawaii-based phenomenon associated with surf instrumentals and Beach Boys songs. In films, it was a vehicle to infuse all-American romantic comedies with action or zany antics. Although equipment and skills evolved, the public’s perception of surfing as a novelty sport remained constant until the 1990s, when a group of punk rock-loving teens, many from troubled homes and backgrounds, found its way to a house on the north shore of Oahu, Hawaii, in the process changing their lives and the sport itself.

In MOMENTUM GENERATION, the core members of that legendary crew – including Kelly Slater, Rob Machado, Shane Dorian, Taylor Knox, Benji Weatherley, Kalani Robb, Ross Williams, Taylor Steele and Pat O’Connell – tell their story together for the first time. Filmmakers Jeff and Michael Zimbalist draw on unprecedented access to their inner circle, as well as to tens of thousands of hours of footage in private archives, to highlight the deep friendships that were formed and tested during the surfers’ careers as top athletes and cultural icons.

“We’re proud to be the home for MOMENTUM GENERATION, a film that is obviously about a group of surfers at the zenith of the sport, but more subtly about their lifelong friendships,” says Peter Nelson, executive vice president, HBO Sports. “The Zimbalist brothers take us on an adrenaline-fueled journey spanning three decades, and the intimacy with which they reveal the ups and downs of some of surfing’s biggest stars makes this film unlike anything else of its kind.”

After relocating to Oahu, the young surfers courageously followed each other into Mother Nature’s most dangerous waves. When some of them didn’t make it back to shore, they found a way to mourn together – and adapt. Fueled by camaraderie and a deep-seated competitiveness, the tight-knit crew became known as the “Momentum Generation” after being featured in Taylor Steele’s groundbreaking films. Its members went on to win world titles, break records and redefine the world’s perception of the surfer, youth culture and what it means to be free.

Filmed over the course of two and a half years, the Momentum Generation surfers reflect on the complexity of the brotherhood and competition that have shaped their shared emotional journey, and made these pioneers both heroic and human.

The film made its world premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival in New York earlier this year where it won an Audience Award.  It has also won top awards at the Aspen Film Festival, Santa Cruz Surf Film Festival, Honolulu Surf Film Festival, Surfalorus and the Los Angeles Film Awards.

MOMENTUM GENERATION is directed by Jeff Zimbalist and Michael Zimbalist; executive producers, Robert Redford, Laura Michalchyshyn, Karen Lauder and Greg Little; producers, Justine Chiara, Tina Elmo, Lizzie Friedman and Colby Gottert; written by Jeff Zimbalist and Michael Zimbalist. For HBO: executive producers, Bill Simmons, Peter Nelson and Rick Bernstein; supervising producer, Bentley Weiner.

Best and Worst Cities for Car Lovers to Live in America

Are you totally obsessed with cars? Do you want to live somewhere where everyone else shares your enthusiasm?

In the US, there are some great places for car lovers to live, and, there are some pretty terrible ones.

So, where should you go live if you love cars, and where should you avoid? Read on to learn about the best and worst cities for car lovers to live in America.

The Best

Let’s start with the good news first – the best cities for car lovers.

1. Colorado Springs

If you’re looking to take breathtaking road trips through mountain scenery whenever you want, then Colorado Springs is the place to go.

The snowpack melts off in the early spring, which means you get to see waterfalls running off the mountains during the summer months.

Honestly, your biggest problem here will probably be keeping your eyes off the amazing scenery and on the road.

Plus, if you own multiple cars, you’ll be right at home here. Colorado ranks second when it comes to states with the most three-vehicle garages or larger.

2. Salt Lake City, Utah

Due to its Mormon population, world-class skiing, and craft beer, Salt Lake City often slips under the radar when it comes to car culture.

However, living in Salt Lake gives you the opportunity to experience some of the best driving routes in the nation.

Once you have your car shipped here from Executive Auto Shippers, you can hit the road to explore Zion National Park, Arches National Park, and, of course, the Utah International Auto Expo.

3. Dayton, Ohio

Cars are in the blood of those who live in Dayton, Ohio.

In fact, the very first battery-operated car ignition was invented here a little over 100 years ago. Even the country’s first speeding ticket was issued in Dayton!

While it doesn’t boast the mountainous scenery that Utah and Colorado do, you will find world-class car expos here nearly every month.

Worst

Now, let’s check out the worst cities for car lovers.

1. New York

It probably comes as no surprise that the Big Apple is not a car-friendly city.

With 5 times as much traffic congestion as Colorado Springs, cars really just aren’t a priority here. Most people opt for Ubers, subways, or bikes.

If you’re looking to live here but feel like you can’t part with your car, get ready for some expensive parking spot fees. These normally range from 300 to $1000 per month.

2. Miami, FL

Drivers in Miami get a bad rap – and probably for a good reason. Miami consistently ranks at the top for cities with the worst and rudest drivers.

Combine terrible drivers with high car insurance premiums, low car ownership rate, and constant congestion, and this place is pretty much a car lover’s nightmare.

However, NASCAR is big here. So if you are forced to relocate here, you could at least watch others enjoy driving their cars…

3. San Francisco

Don’t let the scenic road trips of San Francisco fool you – this city is also a car lover’s nightmare.

In exchange for picturesque drives, you’ll pay an extremely high price. Not only will you be paying a fortune in housing here, but you’ll also be paying a fortune at the pump. Plus, the congestion levels here rank only slightly better than those in New York and LA.

Luckily, they have a great transportation system to make up for it.

So, there you have it – the best and worst cities for car lovers. We hope this list helps you if you’re considering a move or a second home.

British Parents Spend £642 a Month on Credit Cards

    • Totally Money’s Credit Spending Index reveals the nation is spending 46% more on credit cards compared to ten years ago.
    • 56% of parents would rather save for a family holiday than clothing for children and school equipment and trips.
    • 78% of parents worry about their financial situation at least once a month

Getting kids back to school means buying new P.E. kits, geometry sets, and school uniforms, 64% of parents, however, are frequently concerned about being able to afford their bills – so how are parents managing to cope with their cash flow, bills, and outgoings? The last ten years have been filled with financial uncertainty, from the market crash to the housing bubble, these have affected all forms of spending habits such as the price of petrol to the price of school lunches.

Families are becoming more frugal when it comes to watching their pennies. Totally Money’s new research explores spending over the past decade, tracking data on consumer behavior, to reveal how parents have been managing their cash and paying their bills.

Younger Families Rely the Most on Credit Card Spending

Although the number of credit cards and accounts in circulation has decreased by 10% over the past decade, the number of purchases made have risen by 25%. Totally Money’s study reveals that the total value of credit card purchases has increased by a worryingly high 46%. When parents were asked if they feel they rely too heavily on their credit cards, 13% agreed. This agreement peaked to just under one out of five parents with young families (those who have children under the age of three).

    Parents Prioritize Holiday Saving

The survey also revealed that a shocking 78% of parents worry about their financial situation on a monthly basis, with 28% worrying daily. However, despite this, an alarming 56% of parents prioritize saving for their family holiday over clothing for their children, as well as school equipment and school trips.

    Credit Card Spending

With just over 75% of parents owning a credit card, 36% rely on their credit card to get them through the month – spending an average of £643 per month. The study also unveiled younger families might worry the most but are evidently savvier when it comes to their pennies; spending the least on their credit cards per month (£551). However, whilst parents with children aged between eight and twelve have the highest amount of disposable income, an average of £315 left at the end month, it seems the same group tend to be the most reliant on their credit cards; averagely spending £742 per month.

44% of parents say they find themselves concerned about being able to afford their bills every month. This could be accredited to the increase in the cost of living as well as inflation compared to the national average salary of £27,600 – £1,200 less than the national average weekly household spend of £554.20, equating to a yearly figure of £28,818.

Joe Gardiner, Head of Brand and Communications at Totally Money, comments, “It’s no secret that the way British people are spending their money has changed over the years. Although outstanding personal loans per household have fallen by 13%, the number of purchases has risen by 25%, which can be accredited to the difference of 4% between how much people are spending yearly and the average national wage.”

“Brits are having to carefully consider what they deem to be important in order to make their income stretch even further. When asked what measures people put in place to assure they rely on your credit cards and/or overdrafts, it was really encouraging to hear the majority of people surveyed replied that they’re actively taking control of their finances by keeping an eye on unnecessary spending and budgeting in advance. ”

Halston dare, 360 MAGAZINE

Halston Dare

Singer-songwriter and popular online content creator, Halston Dare drops new single Something Special today.

Halston Dare is not your average pop star. Growing up in a musical family to a Cuban American, immigrant father, Halston grew up with music in her blood. As a child, she grew up listening to classic 70’s, 80’s and 90’s music from the likes of Patti Labelle, Phil Collins, Bryan Adams, Donna Summer and Whitney Houston. As one of the brightest young voices in both the musical and digital influencer space, Halston is used to wearing many hats. “I want to be known as the girl who does it all. Music, fashion, make-up, sports. I want people to know that I’m a real person.”

Halston’s creative savvy and relatable personality has helped her amass a following of over 150,000 fans on instagram.

Halston started sharing covers of her favorite songs on Youtube a few years ago. She then branched out into the world of makeup, beauty and lifestyle. Her fanbase grew rapidly and when she finally released her single “Drowned Love”, it was received to much fanfare. Her fans instantly connected to the raw emotion and personal narrative. Over the years, Halston has fostered a uniquely deep and personal relationship with her fans. “Lots of fans I’m actually friends with. I rely on them as much as they rely on me. Let’s be friends, tell me about your day. Tell me about your problems.”

More About Halston:

Unlike many young musicians, Halston did not wait to get discovered. By age 11, the plucky and vivacious curly-haired preteen was googling agencies and managers and setting up her own meetings. That year, she heard an advertisement calling for aspiring young singers and Halston jumped at the opportunity. She begged her parents to attend the audition and because they saw her passion and dedication, allowed her to go. She attended the audition and the agency ended up flying her to Orlando, where she sang Whitney Houston’s “I Have Nothing” in front of 5,000 people. That’s when Halston and her family realized the stage was Halston’s home.

She then picked up piano and started vocal lessons. It was actually her first vocal coach who introduced Halston to song writers and producers and helped hone her talents. She started writing original music that she felt compelled to make. She says her lyrical inspirations come from a mix of real life and fantasy. “I love writing based on fairytales and stories I make up in my head. I love sharing my hopes, fantasies and daydreams.” Recently, Halston has been taking a much more personal approach to songwriting, writing about personal situations and real life events. Her new single “Something Special”, details a real-life situation about infatuation, dealing with ego and the misadventures of youth.

Aside from music, Halston is passionate about global issues like environmentalism, animal rights and female empowerment. Halston’s message has always been about empowering young women and making them feel important, beautiful and valued from the inside out. “In today’s Instagram world, we’re always comparing ourselves to these fake, filtered photos and that’s not really realistic. That’s just what people want them to see.” She says. “I want young girls to know that they’re beautiful the way they are and that they don’t have to look like an Instagram photo to be enough.”

For the future, Halston is excited to keep performing, making original music and connecting even deeper with her fans and followers. As Halston looks ahead she advises her followers to chase their dreams and follow their hearts, “If you want to sing, SING! Reflect you, show everyone how you can be the best you can be. If someone tells you, you can’t. Don’t listen to them. The only person who can stop you is you.”
