Liam Payne’s EP

Get ready because Liam Payne will be releasing his brand new EP, First Time, on August 24th.

To make things even better, the song features acclaimed hip-hop artist French Montana.

“As you may know, the last few months have seen some big changes for me…I looked at some of the songs on my album which were done a while ago and they fell from another age. I’m determined for my debut album to truly represent me. I’m now back in the studio working hard to finalize the final few new songs on the record–I’m genuinely excited about the music I’m writing and recording and I can’t wait for it to be ready for you wall,” says Payne.

With over 2 billion streams and a triple-platinum certification for the breakout song single “Strip That Down,” Payne has emerged as a pop powerhouse in his own right.

“Strip That Down” notably tallied worldwide sales of 10 million-plus in addition to standing out as “one of the biggest-selling singles of 2017” and “the biggest-selling solo single from any current member of One Direction.”

He garnered a Teen Choice Award for “Familiar” and joined forces with the one and only Rita Ora on “For You” from the chart-topping official soundtrack for the steamy Fifty Shades Freed which you can watch and listen to here.

So, prepare yourself world because Payne definitely has some more tricks up his sleeve when it comes to new music.

MOUNTAIN with Willem Dafoe on Blu-ray 9/25

Ravishing and thrilling views from the top of the world fill MOUNTAIN, a stirring visual and musical feast documenting the daring people who ascend and traverse – by whatever means possible – the globe’s highest peaks. Narrated by Willem Dafoe and called “a ravishing feat of vertiginous filmmaking” by The Hollywood Reporter, it arrives on Blu-ray and DVD from Greenwich Entertainment on September 25, 2018.

Only three centuries ago, setting out to climb a mountain would have been considered close to lunacy. Mountains were places of peril, not beauty, an upper world to be shunned, not sought out. Why do mountains now hold us spellbound, drawing us into their dominion, often at the cost of our lives?

From Tibet to Australia, Alaska to Norway, armed with drones, GoPros and helicopters, director Jennifer Peedom (Sherpa) has fashioned an astonishing symphony of mountaineers, ice climbers, free soloists, heliskiers, snowboarders, wingsuiters and parachuting mountain bikers.

Willem Dafoe provides a narration sampled from British mountaineer Robert Macfarlane’s acclaimed memoir Mountains of the Mind, and a classical score from the Australian Chamber Orchestra accompanies this majestic cinematic experience.

MOUNTAIN has received universal praise from critics and audiences alike. Michael Rechtshaffen of the Los Angeles Times called it “a unique portrait of mankind’s enduring fascination with the world’s most formidable summits.” Peter Rainer of The Christian Science Monitor said, “For those of us who would never in our wildest imaginings ride a bike off a sky-high mountain peak and then parachute to earth, I can heartily recommend the documentary, where such feats are standard.” The Wall Street Journal’s Joe Morgenstern said the film “reminds us that mountains restore our wonder; more than ever we need their wildness.” Matthew Roe of Under the Radar called it “a uniquely stunning document, defined by its sublime beauty, cautious reverence, and musical resplendence.”

A popular selection at film festivals worldwide, MOUNTAIN was released by Greenwich Entertainment in top theatrical markets in 2018.

Bonus features on both the Blu-ray and DVD include a look behind the scenes and interviews with director Jennifer Peedom and Robert Macfarlane, author of Mountains of the Mind.

Big Island’s Bright Side

360 Magazine Culture Editor Tom Wilmer reports from the Big Island of Hawaii

The reason the 4,000-square-mile island of Hawaii is fondly dubbed the “Big Island” is because it’s the size of Connecticut—it’s so big, all of the other Hawaiian Islands would fit within the boundary of the island.

The island’s recent volcanic activity has impacted the economy due to substantial cancellations by vacationers. But there are major resort destinations far from the adverse effects of the lava flows and attendant air pollution.

For example, the Kohala Coast—with a large enclave of homes, condos, and resorts—is situated approximately 100 miles from the East Rift Zone.

Join the conversation with three islanders as they share their thoughts about the positive aspects of island life today. Simon Amos is the hotel manager at the Hilton Waikoloa Village; Vicky Kometani works at the historic Mauna Kea Resort in the heart of the Kohala Coast; and Laura Aquino is with Island Events based in Kona.

Many local businesses island-wide are experiencing a downturn in business, and some workers have had their hours cut back or been laid off due to the decrease in tourism.

International news reports have been surgically focused on the Kīlauea volcano’s East Rift Zone volcanic eruptions and seismic activity—leaving many people with the false impression that the entire island is a disaster zone.

Big Island Hawaii’s Kohala Coast sunset

Paradoxically, Volcanoes National Park has been the island’s number one tourist draw for decades.

150 years ago, 31 year-old Mark Twain put the island’s volcanism on the world map when he came to the island specifically to experience and write about the island’s volcanic activity as a correspondent for the Sacramento Union newspaper in 1866.

Helicopter flightseeing companies, such as Paradise Helicopters, cater to tourists and locals alike signing up for over-flights of the volcano. Adventurous tourists and locals are hopeful that a viewing platform will open in the near future for up-close observation of the flows.

Volcanism and its attendant vog (volcanic fog) have been an intermittent part of island life for more than 30 years. Vog is definitely an issue in the Kona Kailua area, but most days up the coast along the Kohala Coast the sky is often bright blue and clear.

Wheezy, Keyyz, K Bangerz, Kacey Khaliel, DY, Charlie Handsome, Smoke, Matt Mattazik, Super, Billboard Hitmakers, and Turbo all bless Slime Language with their forward-thinking production.

Each artist brings an authentic energy to their respective track with animated personalities and masterful ad-libs – this is the fantasy-football project of rap that the fans have been waiting for (and it’s finally here). Already hailed as a melodic rap veteran, Young Thug entangles himself with the extraordinary sounds of each act. Slime Language undeniably embodies Thug’s sonic influence within each artist.

Slime Language‘s stand out track is “Dirty Shoes” featuring Gunna. Gunna’s experimental cadence offers a contagious bounce, which further proves why he has become rap’s most important newcomers. The project then switches to “It’s A Slime” featuring Lil Uzi Vert. The Grammy-nominated artist and Young Thug’s entertaining friendship offers a natural buoyancy that the fans are always looking forward to hear. Finally, “January 1st” featuring Jacquees and Trapboy Freddy, serves up a black-belt approach to melodic arrangement.

Duke, HiDoraah, Dolly, Lil Keed, Tracy T, Strick, Karlae, and Nechie’s remarkable distinctiveness only proves why Young Stoner Life Records has the most idiosyncratic rosters in music. Slime Language is a powerful concoction of artistry that solidifies Young Thug as one of music’s most efficacious artists and dynamic label executives.

RUF × THE QUAIL

THE ALOIS RUF REUNION

For 80 years RUF has worked in pursuit of the perfect driving experience. That pursuit began with repairs, moved to modifications and finally to the engineering and manufacture of its own cars. From the small town of Pfaffenhausen, Germany, RUF turned the automotive world upside down when its turbocharged CTR was crowned the fastest car in the world by Road & Track magazine in 1987. At the Ehra-Lessien test track legendary racing driver Phil Hill hit 211 mph in the “Yellowbird,” a nickname given to the car by the magazine because of the shining yellow paint.

At The Quail, A Motorsports Gathering this year, a selection of custom RUF creations will be on display. The all new RUF CTR will make its U.S. debut alongside the very first “Yellowbird” CTR #001. With a bespoke carbon fiber monocoque and 710 horsepower flat-six engine, the all-new CTR carries on the legacy of its record setting predecessor.
