Woody McClain to Reprise Role in “The Bobby Brown Story”

NAACP-nominated Lead Actor Woody McClain is reprising his role as Bobby Brown in BET’s The Bobby Brown Story, which follows Brown through highs and lows both personal and professional as he settles into new roles as a husband and father. The direct sequel to The New Edition Story is set to premiere in September as a two part television event.

Woody was recently nominated for Outstanding Actor at the NAACP Image Awards for his depiction of Bobby Brown in The New Edition Story, while the show took home the award for Outstanding Limited Series. The New Edition Story pulled record ratings, attracting 29 million total viewers during premiere week, making it the network’s highest-rated and most-watched telecasts since 2012.

Soon after the premiere of The Bobby Brown Story, he will be seen on the big screen in Canal Street playing “MayMay,” set to release in Fall 2018. His recent projects also include a role in USA’s series “Unsolved,” a scripted true crime series based on the murder investigations of Tupac Shakur and Biggie Smalls.

Woody McClain was born in Charleston, South Carolina, and raised in Jacksonville, Florida before moving to Los Angeles in 2012 to pursue a career as a professional dancer. He has since performed with numerous artists including Chris Brown and Fifth Harmony.

After excelling in his career as a professional dancer, he began creating original social media content and noticed very quickly that he had a gift for making people laugh. In fact, Woody signed with Kevin Hart’s production company, ‘HartBeat Digital’, in December 2015 to produce content after his version of Hart’s “Permission to Cuss” skit went viral and caught Hart’s attention.

Alongside his acting, he has teamed up with Kevin Hart for a streaming series in which he plays Kevin, based on Hart’s most iconic stories and stand-up bits available via Hart’s streaming video service, “Laugh Out Loud”. McClain is the creator, Executive Producer and star of Stories With Kev, with Hart serving as Executive Producer.

Lewis Capaldi

“Lewis Capaldi has the kind of deep, textured voice that you could listen to for hours. He finds expressive rough edges, then smoothes them out into the sweetest of notes…Capaldi’s talent is tugging at heartstrings – or rather, pulling at them with all his vocal might.” -TIME

Scottish singer and songwriter Lewis Capaldi premieres the live video for his new single — “Tough” — today. Watch it HERE.

“I’ve wanted to release this song from the moment I finished writing it,” Capaldi says of “Tough,” which he co-wrote, and was co-produced by Jonathan Quamby (Benjamin Clementine, Jacob Banks), and Spike Stent (Ed Sheeran, Florence & The Machine, Frank Ocean). “For me it’s a song about trying to move on after a relationship. I was coming from a place where the worst was over in terms of missing someone and being heartbroken. I was one hundred percent ready to move on, but there are still these remnants of that person hanging around in the back of my mind. So the song is about getting on with things, wrestling with your head, and trying to get to a point where you can find normality and learn to be on your own again.”

Last week, Capaldi launched his sold out U.S. headline tour and performed at Bonnaroo and LaureLive over the weekend. He will also perform at Firefly, Mountain Jam, Splendour in the Grass, Fuji, Lollapalooza, Osheaga, Reading and Leeds, and the Austin City Limits Festival. Lewis has previously toured with Rag’n’Bone Man, Niall Horan, and Sam Smith. Please see below for all U.S. dates. For international tour dates, visit: http://www.lewiscapaldi.com/

Twenty-one year-old Capaldi was hailed as a 2018 Vevo Dscvr Artist To Watch, longlisted for the BBC Sound Of 2018 Poll, and won Breakthrough Artist of the Year honors at the Scottish Music Awards. His 2017 debut EP, Bloom, has over 175 million streams worldwide. Bloom features “Bruises,” a track that showcases his nimble vocal ability, as he effortlessly slips between smooth baritone, gravelly mid-tone, and haunting falsetto with pinpoint accuracy. It shot to No. 1 on Spotify’s New Music Friday playlist and has over 100 million combined streams globally.

What critics are saying about Lewis Capaldi:

“Lewis Capaldi has captivated listeners with his soulful voice…(and) has had a meteoric rise since his single “Bruises” went viral earlier this year,” -Billboard

“Lewis Capaldi is generating some huge buzz with ‘Fade.’ Produced by Malay (Frank Ocean’s long-time collaborator), the emotional ballad showcases the 20-year-old Scot’s powerful pipes and knack for insightful lyrics. It goes without saying that he’s One To Watch.” -Idolator

“The latest in Lewis Capaldi’s growing list of accolades is (‘Rush’) his collaboration with Jessie Reyez,

an unlikely pairing that capitalizes on both artists’ uncanny ability to convey the most raw, real emotion in their lyrics and passionate vocals. -Ones To Watch

British singer-songwriter Lewis Capaldi (is) emerging in the scene quickly… Once you listen to his music, it will all make sense…beautiful ballad (‘Lost On You’) will break your heart. -Baeble

Moving to a New State With a Car? Here Are 7 Tips to Have a Smooth Transition

According to the American Moving & Storage Association, 11.2% of Americans moved in 2015-2016. That comes out to 35.1 million, or 15.3 million households with 2.3 persons per household. If you’ve ever moved, you know how hectic it can be: packing, unpacking, and getting settled in. It can be even more stressful when you’re moving to an entirely new state. On top of moving and getting acquainted with your new home, you also have to apply for a new driver’s license, update your auto insurance, and register your vehicle. You also need to know when to renew your driver’s license in your new state. To help make the transition as smooth as possible, here are seven tips you should know when moving to a new state.

1. Find Your New State’s DMV. If you move to a new state, you must apply for a new driver’s license. Most states require you to apply for a new license within 30 days of becoming a resident. If you are a student, however, you most likely do not have to apply for a license in the state where your college or university is located because you’re not considered a resident. Because you’re a new resident, the state will probably require you to visit the DMV in person. To save yourself time, you can go online and find your local DMV branch. There, you can locate basic information, including the address, office hours, services offered, how many days you have to apply for a driver’s license, when you’ll need to renew your license, and what documents you’ll need to apply for a new license. To save you even more time, some states, such as Washington allow you to pre-apply for a driver’s license online.

2. Apply for a New License. Once you’ve found your local DMV, you’ll need to apply for a new license. In most cases, this is a simple trip to the DMV where you have your picture taken and pay a small fee, as long as you have the following.

  • Your valid out-of-state license that contains a picture. If your license is suspended or revoked in another state, you can not apply for a new driver’s license
  • Your Social Security Number
  • Proof of residency (a utility bill or bank statement)

Some states also require that you take a vision test or written exam on state driving laws. Again, visit your state’s DMV website to find out the exact documents andrequirements you need to obtain a new driver’s license.

3. Register Your Vehicle in Your New State. While you’re at the DMV, you might as well go ahead and register your vehicle in your new state. If you own your vehicle, this shouldn’t be a hassle. Simply bring your title and proof of insurance, and pay a small fee. Other states do require that your vehicle pass an emissions test and vehicle safety inspection.
If you’re financing or leasing a vehicle, this can be a little more complicated since you don’t have the title. In this case, you need to contact your lender and ask them to mail the title to your local DMV. After they register your vehicle, the DMV will mail the title back. Because each state has different laws, visit your state’s DMV website to locate the specific process for registering your vehicle.

4. Update Your Auto Insurance Policy. Insurance requirements vary from state-to-state. Most require you to have minimum coverage, while some allow you to pay an uninsured motorist fee. Regardless of the exact laws, if you want to avoid any financial or legal repercussions, make sure to call your current insurance company to update your policy. Your insurance company should be able to connect you to an agent licensed in your state to help you determine the right policy you’ll need.

5. Register to Vote. If you want to participate in elections your new home area, you’ll need to register to vote. Thankfully, when you’re at the DMV, you can also register to vote in your new state.

6. Surrender Your License Plates. When moving to a new state, your previous state might require you to surrender your license plates. You can do this by dropping them off at the DMV or mailing them back to the DMV. This ensures that you don’t have to pay extra in property taxes. In some situations, you might also be able to receive a refund for any overpaid taxes and registration fees, but you’ll need to contact your county clerk to handle the matter.

7. Renew Your Driver’s License in Your New State. Now that you have your new license, the driver’s license renewal process in your new state is fairly straightforward as long as don’t let your license expire or have it suspended.
Depending on the state, your new license will be valid for 4 to 8 years. If you aren’t sure of the exact date, you don’t need to panic because you’ll receive a renewal notice in the mail. After you’ve received the notice, you have the option to renew your driver’s license in person, by mail, or online by providing the same documents you used to apply for your new license. If you’re in the military and stationed out of state, you can renew your license by phone or by asking for an Extension of License for Person in Armed Forces card. And, don’t forget to have a credit or debit card or check to pay the driver’s license renewal fee. The amount varies from state to state, but your renewal notice should state the amount you owe. If not, contact your state’s DMV.

“THE REAL HOUSEWIVES OF OC” RETURNS

NEW YORK – June 11, 2018 – Bravo Media’s original series that started the hit franchise “The Real Housewives of Orange County” is back for a new season, ready to move forward and whoop it up, beginning Monday, July 16 at 9 pm ET/PT.  This season, Vicki Gunvalson, Tamra Judge, Shannon Beador and Kelly Dodd are joined by two feisty new housewives Emily Simpson and Gina Kirschenheiter. As the ladies face life’s ups-and-downs, they find the importance of each other’s support and friendship more than ever before. For a sneak peek of season 13, go to: http://www.bravotv.com/the-real-housewives-of-orange-county/season-13/videos/your-first-look-at-rhoc-season-13.

Season 12 of “The Real Housewives of Orange County” drew nearly 3 million total viewers, ranking in 2017 among the top 15 reality series on cable with P18-49 and in the top five most affluent programs, among the top 100 rated scripted and unscripted series on cable.”

After the surprising reconciliation between Vicki, Tamra and Shannon at last season’s reunion, the ladies are working to rebuild their friendship and regain each other’s trust.  But they all know it will take more than a hug to repair the rumors, betrayal and damage done over the years.  Newly single, Shannon and Kelly have both moved into new homes and find that they are approaching their post-divorce life very differently, as they navigate the dating world, raise their daughters and launch their own careers. Vicki and Steve’s relationship is still going strong, but the OG of the OC wants him to commit and be more than just a boyfriend.  Meanwhile, Tamra fears that a health scare for Eddie could have bigger consequences than just sidelining her husband from CUT Fitness.  In the spirit of reconciliation and new beginnings, Tamra brings her estranged friend Emily and acquaintance Gina into the group to shake things up in the OC.

Emily Simpson

A true rags-to-riches story, Emily is an Ohio transplant who came from nothing and willed herself to great success to become an attorney, a part-time party-planer, a wife and a mom.  However, motherhood has been a bumpy road for her after years of fertility and pregnancy issues.  Resigned to the fact that she could not successfully carry her own children, Emily’s sister Sarah stepped in as a surrogate for all three of Emily and her husband Shane’s children – daughter Annabelle and twin boys Luke and Keller.  With three children under five, and two step-daughters from Shane’s previous marriage, Emily and Shane, are trying to plan out the future of their family and their careers together.  Emily planned Tamra’s baby shower for granddaughter Ava a few years back, but had a falling out with her shortly after befriending some of Tamra’s former besties.  Now focusing on mending the toxic relationships in her life, Emily hopes that she can find true friendships with the ladies.

Gina Kirschenheiter

This expressive outsider from Long Island is shaking up Southern California and its politically correct Orange County ways. As a mother of three kids under the age of 5, Gina keeps her expectations low and her patience high.  With her husband working and living in Los Angeles during the week, Gina is a single mom of sorts, which causes her to re-evaluate what she wants and needs in her marriage. Having only lived in Orange County for 3 years, she is still acclimating and is quickly learning that friendships in the OC aren’t always what they seem.

Tune in tonight, Monday, June 11 at 9 pm ET/PT for the half-hour special, “The Real Housewives of Orange County: How They Got Here” to reminisce on the memorable moments, jam-packed with all the screwball fun, drama and conflict from the past 12 seasons. Get caught up on the ladies with Vicki’s love tank woes, Tamra’s wavering friendship with the OG of the OC, Shannon’s rocky marriage and Kelly’s polarizing arrival into the fold.

“The Real Housewives of Orange County” is produced by Evolution Media for Bravo, with Douglas Ross, Alex Baskin, Stephanie Boyriven and Brian McCarthy, along with Scott Dunlop, serving as Executive Producers.

A Message to A Friend

Dear Fellow Humans,

Sitting across from me is the remarkable human and brave survivor, Asia Argento, who has been through more than most could stand, and yet stand she does. She stood up to her monster rapist and now she has to stand up to yet another monster, suicide. The suicide of her beloved lover and ally, Anthony Bourdain. I write these truths because I have been asked to. I know so many around the world thought of Anthony Bourdain as a friend and when a friend dies, it hurts. Many of these people who lost their ‘friend’ are wanting to lash out and blame. You must not sink to that level. Suicide is a horrible choice, but it is that person’s choice.

When Anthony met Asia, it was instant chemistry. They laughed, they loved and he was her rock during the hardships of this last year. Anthony was open with his demons, he even wrote a book about them. In the beginning of their relationship, Anthony told a mutual friend, “He’s never met anyone who wanted to die more than him.” And through a lot of this last year, Asia did want the pain to stop. But here’s the thing, over their time together, thankfully, she did the work to get help, so she could stay alive and live another day for her and her children. Anthony’s depression didn’t let him, he put down his armor, and that was very much his choice. His decision, not hers. His depression won. Anthony and Asia had a free relationship, they loved without borders of traditional relationships, and they established the parameters of their relationship early on. Asia is a free bird, and so was Anthony. Was. Such a terrible word to write. I’ve heard from many that the past two years they were together were some of his happiest and that should give us all solace.

Anthony was 61, the same age my father was when he died. My father also suffered from intermittent deep depression, and like Anthony, was part of a “pull up your bootstraps and march on” generation. The a “strong man doesn’t ask for help” generation. I know before Anthony died he reached out for help, and yet he did not take the doctor’s advice. And that has led us here, to this tragedy, to this loss, to this world of hurt. Do NOT do the sexist thing and burn a woman on the pyre of misplaced blame. Anthony’s internal war was his war, but now she’s been left on the battlefield to take the bullets. It is in no way fair or acceptable to blame her or anyone else, not even Anthony. We are asking you to be better, to look deeper, to read and learn about mental illness, suicide and depression before you make it worse for survivors by judging that which we do not understand, that which can never fully be understood. Sometimes we are stuck in the unknowable, and that is where we are now, a massive wave of darkness that threatens to swallow everyone in its wake.

As I watch Asia do her job on set today, I see a pillar of strength who continues to work to put food on her children’s table. I see Elizabeth Taylor carrying on filming Cat on a Hot Tin Roof despite her love, her husband, dying in a plane crash. I see all of us who have carried on. Please join me in sending healing energy to Anthony on his journey, and to all who’ve been left behind to journey on without him. There is no one to blame but the stigma of loneliness, the stigma of asking for help, the stigma of mental illness, the stigma of being famous and hurting.

We must do more and be better. Anthony, our friend, would want it that way.

To the media and to the random commenter, Anthony would never have wanted Asia to be hurt, I’d like to think he would want us to have the collective conversation that needs to be had about depression. Blame is NOT a conversation, it is the shutting down of our collective growth. Which is where we are now. We have a choice as humans, shrink to our smaller, uglier selves, or be better and grow as only true Phoenixes can. I urge you to be that Phoenix.

With great sadness and even greater hope, I remain,

Rose McGowan
