Prime Social Group Announces Complete 2018 Breakaway Music Festival Calendar

(COLUMBUS, OHIO) — Today, Prime Social Group announces the complete 2018 calendar for its signature Breakaway Music Festival in Dallas, TX; Columbus, OH; Grand Rapids, MI; Charlotte, NC; and, for the first time, Nashville, TN. Also for the first time, PSG has added another day to both the Columbus and Charlotte events, expanding Breakaway Columbus to a 3-day festival and Charlotte to a 2-day festival.

Prime Social Group is one of the fastest growing festival promoters in North America, bringing the biggest hip-hop and EDM talent to fill venues of tens of thousands in America’s heartland markets. In 2018, PSG will produce ten festivals under the Breakaway, Prime, Haunted Fest, and #FEST brands.

“We started this festival by combining urban living with a carefully curated, multi-genre lineup that festival goers of all ages and music preferences could enjoy. After just four years, Breakaway Columbus has grown into a large-scale festival home to over 25,000 attendees, which has inspired us to spread the festival brand to other markets. Every city could use their own festival to call home— we’re really excited for what the future looks like,” Managing Partner Adam Lynn explained.

Breakaway festivals have played host to hip-hop heavyweights like Chance the Rapper, visionary and Grammy-winner Kendrick Lamar, Billboard chart-topping Rae Sremmurd, Grammy Nominated Lil Uzi Vert and Travis Scott, and Atlanta-Trap star Playboi Carti. PSG has also hosted explosive hip-hop stars like Blackbear, Lil Yachty, Young Thug, Desiigner, and D.R.A.M. among many others.

EDM bookings at Breakaway have included Grammy-winner Zedd, international superstars Galantis and Diplo, traplord RL Grime, Australia’s Empire of the Sun, bass-god Bassnectar, Dillon Francis, the Electronic Music Awards’ ‘Artist of the Year’ Alison Wonderland, “Worlds” mastermind Porter Robinson, OWSLA queen Mija, and masked house aficionado Malaa as well as Oliver Heldens, Gryffin and many more. The 2018 festival lineups will be announced in the coming weeks.

Locations for Breakaway festivals are always carefully chosen. Breakaway Music Festival will return to Dallas at the Toyota Music Factory (4/7), Grand Rapid’s Belknap Park (8/24 – 8/25), Columbus’ MAPFRE Stadium (8/24 – 8/26) Charlotte’s AvidXchange Music Factory (10/12 – 10/13) and will debut in-front of the State Capitol in Nashville’s’ Bicentennial Capitol Mall State Park (10/5 – 10/6).

Pre-sale tickets will be available beginning Thursday, March 29 at NOON EST and will last for 24 hours. Ticket buyers of all last year’s Breakaway Festivals will receive an access code via email before the pre-sale begins. Early bird tickets will go on sale to the general public Friday, March 30 at NOON EST. Only multi-day tickets will be available, with single day tickets on sale at a later date.

VR DOC × NOBLE PEACE PRIZE RECIPIENT

SURVIVOR TESTIMONY FROM HIROSHIMA ROARS TO LIFE IN TROUBLED TIMES

Tomorrow Never Knows presents The Day the World Changed, in collaboration with ICAN, recipient of the 2017 Nobel Peace Prize

Interactive Virtual Reality Memorial, The Day the World Changed, brings viewers the harrowing impressions of the victims and survivors of atomic bombings and nuclear arms testing through first-hand testimonies, data visualizations, 3-D scanning and photogrammetry.

Premiering April 20-29, in the Virtual Arcade section of the 2018 Tribeca Film Festival

Tomorrow Never Knows, in partnership with the 2017 recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize, International Campaign to Abolish Nuclear Weapons (ICAN), Nobel Media and the Saul Zaentz Innovation Fund in Film and Media Studies at Johns Hopkins University, has today announced the virtual reality experience, The Day the World Changed, will premiere in the Virtual Arcade that runs April 20-29, at the 2018 Tribeca Film Festival presented by AT&T.

Co-created by award-winning filmmakers and virtual reality pioneers, Gabo Arora and Saschka Unseld, and produced by Jennifer Tiexiera, the social, interactive experience pairs ground-breaking technologies with rare survivor testimonies from Hiroshima to bring the terror of nuclear war to vivid life.

“Over the years, we have been desensitized to the consequences of nuclear war,” said Arora. “We are living in a time when our Commander-in-Chief and leaders of other nations are openly calling for more nuclear weapons, taunting each other over their capabilities. Our intention with this work is to give voice to those victims of nuclear war asking the world to face this shared history and to recognize the true horror of these weapons.”

Added Saschka Unseld, We want this to be an unwavering, uncomfortable experience for people. We want to turn on its head our obsessions and fetishizing of nuclear superiority as a symbol of pride in one’s country, but also to recognize the power of the virtual reality medium. By placing the general public inside the ruins of a tragic event like Hiroshima, we hope to activate a groundswell of support for the abolition of nuclear weapons, and to help ICAN generate momentum in their mission towards elimination.

The Day the World Changed began as an original commission by Nobel Media to showcase the work of the 2017 Nobel Peace Prize-winning organization ICAN, a campaign coalition that works to prohibit and eliminate nuclear weapons.

We find ourselves at one of the most dangerous moments since the dawn of the Atomic Age. It’s at moments like this that we must collectively look back and understand that nuclear weapons are quite simply indiscriminate weapons of mass murder,” said ICAN executive director, Beatrice Fihn. “The Day the World Changed isn’t just a story about the past, it is also about our future it reminds us that these weapons are still here, threatening us, but we can do something about it.”

With that goal in mind, the experience presents a powerful historical record reimagined through new technology via three interactive chapters.

The first explores what led the United States government to develop and drop the world’s first atom bomb on Hiroshima, Japan on August 6, 1945, a catastrophic event that ultimately killed more than 90,000 people. The second chapter examines the aftermath of the bombing as users walk through the ruins of Hiroshima’s only remaining building, and view authentic artifacts left over from that day.

The third chapter advances to the present day as viewers delve into the madness that ensued as the world raced to develop ever-more nuclear weapons.

The experience seeks to pay tribute to the victims of Hiroshima, while recognizing those currently affected by nuclear weapons testing in today’s fraught geo-political climate, proving that change is possible with the right tools and information.

“The Saul Zaentz Innovation Fund prides itself on elevating and empowering voices that have been ignored, voices that aren’t afraid to push the envelope and explore the complexities of what drives us as a society and as individual beings,” said executive producer and director of the Saul Zaentz Innovation Fund in Film and Media Studies at Johns Hopkins University Annette Porter. We are honored to support and participate in this monumental project.

Tomorrow Never Knows CEO and Executive Producer on the project, Nathan Brown, is quick to note the impact The Day the World Changed will have in bridging the gap between art, education and location-based distribution. This project goes far beyond mere technology or storytelling,Éd; he says. It is important experiences like this that have the potential to open up new markets and audiences to the power of immersive storytelling around the world.Éd;

The Day the World Changed was made in partnership with International Campaign to Abolish Nuclear Weapons (ICAN), Nobel Media, Sisu Films and Ntropic+Tactic and produced by Tomorrow Never Knows, Jennifer Tiexiera, Tom Lofthouse and Fifer Garbesi, and executive produced by Nathan Brown, Executive Director of ICAN and current Nobel Peace Prize Nobel Laureate, Beatrice Fihn, Mattias Fryenius, Karen Lorenzo, Annette Porter and features original sound design by AntFood.

Tomorrow Never Knowsߣ inaugural feature, the critically-acclaimed ZIKR: A Sufi Revival, premiered at the 2018 Sundance Film Festival, and was later acquired by UK-based distribution company, Dogwoof, becoming the first ever VR documentary to be acquired at a major film festival.

Celebrity Hair Summer Style Tips

According to Celebrity Stylist Johnny Lavoy, whose clients include Miranda Lambert and Kristin Cavallari, warmer weather is the time to embrace and enhance your natural textureYou most likely spent the majority of fall and winter blowing your hair out because you didn’t want to go out in the cold with wet hair, or because the dry air guaranteed a perfect hair day.  Now it’s time to work with your mane for those more humid and hot days.”

Below are Johnny’s top 4 tips for embracing a natural summer wave.

1.       Diffuse. A diffuser distributes the heat from your dryer without the wind (wind is what will separate the wave while drying, resulting is frizz). Pairing a diffuser with an ionic dryer is the most efficient way to prevent frizz. I recommend the PRO Beauty Tools ionic dryer that comes with both a nozzle and diffuser so you’re all set for any season.

2.       Define. If your wave is weak or needs a little definition I suggest using a heat tool to help your style along. I love the new 3-in-1 ceramic wand from PRO Beauty Tools. It comes with three different size attachments so it will cover any size wave you want to create.  It’s even heat distribution will prevent the hair from getting excess heat. Defining is as easy as picking up a few rebellious strands and simply wrapping them around the wand for a couple seconds. PRO TIP: leave the last 2-3 inches of the hair out for a more relaxed natural look.

3.       Maintain. The great thing about wavy styles are they are easy to maintain, so you don’t have to redo the styling process every day. An easy way to keep your wave overnight is to gather your hair into a high ponytail and create a loose braid. The high pony will make it comfortable to sleep on and the braid will enhance the wave while you sleep.

4.       Condition. One of my favorite tips is style with a deep conditioner. This is great if you’re spending the day at the beach or plan on wearing your hair in a slicked braid or bun. The treatment will help protect your hair from the sun’s rays while also penetrating the cuticle as the heat from sun opens it up. It’s a genius way to look chic while treating your hair. Pair it up with a hair accessory and no one would guess you’re doing double duty.

Modern Lumberjack Experience

360 Magazine was recently given the exciting opportunity to test drive the brand new 2018 Chevrolet Colorado 4WD ZR2 Crew Short Box. In our opinion, the vehicle, which is priced around $45,000, is worth every penny. The car is well-equipped with an 8-inch, state-of-the-art infotainment system (Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, back-up camera, Bose stereo and Wi-Fi hotspot). This ergonomical four-seater weighs in at 4,758lbs and is stocked with 17″ wheels alongside of a fob with auto start option.
At 360, we don’t have anyone on our team that fits the description of ‘lumberjack’ but we decided to give it a go so we could see for ourselves if the vehicle was suited for the lifestyle of the market consumer. In order to act the part, we had to look the part, of course. We channeled our inner lumberjacks and adorned ourselves in overalls and flannels before making the drive down to a small town called San Marcos that is located near the border of Mexico and the United States. San Marcos is home to So Cal Axe, one of the only axe throwing cages on the West Coast. While there, we learned the proper technique required to successfully propel an axe onto a bullseye. After a few hours of chucking axes at targets, we retreated to Hotel Z (http://www.instagram.com/staypineapple/) located in San Diego’s Gas Lamp district. We changed out of our sweaty flannels and into some navy blue apparel and made our way to Petco Park for the opening game of the San Diego Padres. We rolled up to the game in style. Heads turned as we pulled up in the Chevrolet Colorado which is coated in Kinetic Blue with a flashy yet functional spare tired propped up on the back of the truck. The Padres may have lost the game but the 360 team sure felt like winners riding around in that beautiful truck.
The next morning, we decided to continue our lumberjack adventures by heading north to San Luis Obispo [SLO] and we put the vehicle’s gas mileage, which boasts 19mpg city/25mpg hwy., to the test. With a capable 3.6 liter V6 engine (308hp and 270lbft of torque), we maneuvered our way up to Cal Poly (http://www.facebook.com/Cal-Poly-Loggers-190833514320167/) to witness the student logging and axe competition. Cal Poly, an agriculture school founded in 1901 with over 20,000 undergraduates, recently hosted and competed in AWFC (Association of Western Forestry Clubs). They prepared an entire complex to be utilized for all of the traditional lumberjack sports. The expo included everything from sawing, chopping, axe-throwing, birling, pole climbing, technical events such as wood identification, and much more! Each competitor has the opportunity to earn points for the overall team. Cal Poly did exceptionally well this year, as we took second place overall. Keep in mind, there were teams from all over the western region competing; some came all the way from Montana and British Columbia to compete. Overall, the week was filled with focused and fun-loving loggers. We had a blast watching the events and even getting involved in a few ourselves. We wouldn’t have wanted to spend our Spring Break anywhere else! However, our limited lumberjack experience made us feel like mere city slickers compared to the advanced skills of the other participants.
Shortly after, we bolted over to the neighboring town of Morro Bay to check out the Morro Rock. We were greeted by cheers and screams of “go mud bogging!” while cruising down the embarcadero. Upon arrival at the La Cuesta Inn (http://www.lacuestainn.com/) in SLO, we learned about Pismo Beach (one of the only beaches in Northern America which allows for off-roading vehicles on the beach). Subsequently, we arrived at the State Park and paid $5 for an all day pass and plopped off the pavement onto the sand. On the road, it feels like a sedan (but with a flatbed). Off the road, the Multimatic DSSV suspension (same
dampers used on the 2014 Camaro Z/28 and some of the Formula One vehicles) was able to easily adapt to knee-deep sand and dove head first into 3-feet of the Pacific. Clearly, the suspension is infinitely tunable to the demands of the driver while some monster trucks and cars got stuck while overheating. Our ZR2 seemed to rival all of the Jeep Wrangler Rubicons which were staggered throughout the coastline. We became an instant showstopper. Once the adrenaline faded, we headed to our hotel room at The Lofts (http://www.slobrew.com) which is situated right above the Slo Brew tasting and live performance venue.
To sum up our experiences with the 2018 Chevy Colorado ZR2 not only can adapt to most terrains but to most lifestyles: from a concrete safari to an off-road excursion. Finally, General Motors has a crafted a crawling and trail running beast which can dress itself up for a night on the town. This is a phenomenal factory truck which needs no modifications and can take loads of abuse. With precise steering, good cornering, strong braking system and excellent off-road capabilities, this is our preferred midsize truck for anyone in the market to floss and look like a boss on tough trails. This vehicle not only brought out our inner lumberjack but also proved to be a great car for all sorts of uses.
