The Mayumi: All-Inclusive Residential Stay

The Mayumi, a new residential concept by HQ Development, is set to open April 2018 in Los Angeles. Each member is provided their own unit, with an ensuite private restroom featuring a soft water system and rain shower. An in-room touchscreen managing lights, shades and thermostat provides full control of the environment right at the member’s fingertips, as well as a 50-inch Smart TV with DirectTV service.

 

The innovative concept is a natural fit for HQ Development, whose projects throughout Culver City, Hollywood and Santa Monica have attracted heavyweight companies in creative industries as its tenants. With the opening of Mayumi, HQ Development will mark its entry into the residential market and similarly endow the surrounding neighborhoods with a thriving energy. As Robert Herscu remarks, “Our intent is to make Mayumi synonymous with luxury, flexibility and comfort. Our drive to create a distinctive living experience is as fierce as our residents’ passion to make their mark in LA.”

NAVIA ROBINSON

The talented and beautiful, Navia Robinson is one of the stars of Disney Channel’s hit new series “Raven’s Home.” A spin-off from the hit Disney Channel series “That’s So Raven!” The show follows Raven (Raven Symone) and Chelsea who are now divorced single mothers raising their two separate families in one chaotic, but fun household full of friends. When one of Raven’s kids begins to show signs that they have inherited her trait of seeing into the future, the already hectic household gets turned upside down, keeping even Raven on her toes. On the show Navia plays Raven’s daughter “Nia.” The second season premiere is TBD 2018. The show was recently nominated for 2018 NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Children’s Program.

In addition to “Raven’s Home,” Navia has a lead role on the hit Netflix series “Free Rein”. After befriending a mysterious horse during a summer in the English countryside, 15-year-old Zoe finds the strength to deal with issues she faces. On the show Navia plays “Rosie” Zoe’s little sister. The second season is currently airing. The show was recently nominated for 2018 NAACP Image Award (Outstanding Children’s Program) and a 2018 Daytime Emmy Award (Best Children’s Series).

Navia’s television career began by recurring as D’Asia, the young niece to Gabrielle Union’s character, Mary Jane, in the ground-breaking pilot and ongoing subsequent series of BET Network’s “Being Mary Jane”. In early 2016 Nicki Minaj handpicked Navia for her new pilot about her life growing up in Queens entitled “NICKI” which was shot for the Freeform Network formerly known as ABC Family. She’s starring in a new Netflix original coming of age series currently titled “Horse Mystery Project”, which is presently in production in the United Kingdom and due for release in Spring of 2017.

Damian Marley x Living It Up

DAMIAN MARLEY “LIVING IT UP” VISUAL AVAILABLE NOW EXCLUSIVELY ON TIDAL

Today, Damian “Jr Gong” Marley premiered the music video for his impassioned single “Living It Up” off his GRAMMY Award-winning fourth studio album, Stony Hill, exclusively on global music and entertainment platform, TIDAL.

 

In the visual, Marley takes his son back to his hometown in Jamaica to share the culture of where his father Bob Marley grew up and where reggae music was born, as well as the parallel between his upbringing and where he is now.

 

The video was directed by Gil Green, and filmed in Trenchtown, Stony Hill and Port Antonio, Jamaica.

 

“If I have to pick a single track that represents the theme of the album overall, I would say it is probably Living It Up, it represents my history. It comes down to where my father is coming from and where my mother is coming from, it’s not likely that people from these two worlds meet up like that on a regular basis and have children. That whole journey, I think is an inspiring story in itself” says Marley about the track.

Airport Snowploughs May Soon Become Autonomous

Snowploughs at airports may soon be autonomous. For the first time, autonomous snowploughs, 20 metres long and 5.5 metres wide, have cleared snow from a runway. This project, which is known as Yeti and uses technology developed by Semcon, aims to increase efficiency and reduce delays at airports.

Clearing snow at airports is absolutely crucial. Takeoff and landing runways must be completely clear of snow if flights are to depart and land on time. At present, airports always need to be prepared and have staff on standby who can clear snow whenever they are needed. Problems with snow also result in many delays and stranded passengers every year.

“Autonomous snowploughs will allow airports all over the world to streamline their activities and reduce delays for their passengers. This is a good example of how autonomous vehicles can increase profitability and add value for people,” says Markus Granlund, CEO at Semcon.

On 19 March, self-driving snowploughs were presented for the first time when they were deployed at Fagernes Airport in Leirin, Norway, 200 kilometres north of Oslo. This project has been developed by Yeti Snow Technology, co-owned by Semcon and Øveraasen, for Norwegian airport operator Avinor. The snowploughs have enough capacity to clear an area of 357,500 square metres an hour. One unique feature of these autonomous vehicles is that they can clear snow in formation, several vehicles working together, and with the same outstanding precision no matter the weather.

Semcon in Norway is contributing its expertise to the project, working with complex real-time systems and autonomous technology.

“We have designed a control system that sets up digital patterns for autonomous snow clearance at airports. The system can then download these patterns and monitor a number of vehicles that navigate using RTK GPS, an accurate form of position measurement, and communicate using 4G modems,” explainsJohn Emil Halden, Semcon project manager.

PARAGON HONDA

Paragon Honda, Honda’s largest certified pre-owned dealer, in partnership with its agency Team Velocity, is transforming the way it assists its customers, leveraging Google’s advanced technology and measurement to take the friction out of vehicle service and maintenance. Of note:

  • To make it even simpler for its customers to schedule service and maintenance, Paragon became the first dealer to build an app for the Google Assistant. In the coming weeks, drivers can schedule service—such as routine maintenance, oil changes, and tire rotations—quickly and easily using just their voice.

  • To drive awareness of its 24-hour service online, Paragon ramped up its investment in Search to be there in moments when people searched “honda oil change” and “honda maintenance” in the New York market. As a result, this strategy helped Paragon grow its service repair orders by 5X in the last 12 months.

  • Paragon also used Search ads to drive new and used vehicle sales, and is using Google’s store visits technology to measure how its Search ads helped generate in-store visits. (Google’s store visits technology uses anonymous and aggregated data from signed in Google users who had location history turned on to determine how Search ads help drive in-store visits.)

  • This helped Paragon better understand which keywords and campaigns were driving people to its dealership, and found that Search was nearly 5X more cost-effective per vehicle sold compared to other media.
