This year marks the 200th St. Patrick’s Day Guinness will share with America, the latest reminder of the two-century connection between a legendary brewery and its good friends across the Atlantic. Once again, in the days and weeks leading up to March 17, it’s time for us all to embrace the stories we tell, the memories we make and the bonds we build over a pint of Guinness.
The Guinness brand is encouraging all Americans, 21 years and older, to make a simple pledge (assuming they’ve already promised to drink responsibly, of course): gather with friends, new or old, toast to the many things we all have in common…and give a ‘Stache. Indeed, this St. Patrick’s Day, the Guinness ‘Stache – that unmistakable hint of foam left behind on the upper lip after the first sip of stout – is back as a symbol of the goodness and the Irish-ness that lives within all of us.
From now through March 31, 2018, when adult beer lovers share photos of their ‘Staches – self-grown and groomed, drawn-on, or Guinness-enhanced – on social media (tagging @GuinnessUS and using #StacheForCharity), Guinness will donate $1 (up to $100,000) to the Guinness Gives Back Fund*, which supports nonprofits that contribute to the common good in our communities, includingTeam Rubicon, a veteran-led disaster response organization.
“Over the past 200 years, so much has changed – yet so much has stayed the same, like people coming together to raise a pint of Guinness with their friends on St. Patrick’s Day,” said Guinness Brand Director Emma Giles. “We are proud to be part of such an enduring tradition that celebrates Irish heritage and, when it comes down to it, the power of friendship. The symbol of the ‘Stache will appear alongside Guinness brand activity at bars and restaurants and on social media throughout the St. Patrick’s Day season, including in some digital content that pays homage to 200 years of mustaches in America. To spread the word about the bonds a ‘Stache can build, the brand is releasing additional digital content that will help us all reflect on the friendships we cherish – and some very recognizable Guinness fans will also get involved in spreading the word.
In addition, it’s time for the latest limited-edition Guinness Draught cans, which will hit shelves in time for St. Patrick’s Day. The ongoing series celebrates the famed Guinness ad campaigns of the 1930s and ‘50s. While it doesn’t have a mustache, the kinkajou – which we thought was a sloth at first – will be featured on this version.

Fashion and Social media influencer Urszula Makowska is a fashionable New Yorker with over 116k followers on Instagram. She was invited to almost every event of the New York Fashion Week. Urszula is influencing others with her fashion style and at this occasion, she had an interview that revealed what the fashion trends are of 2018, as seen at the NYFW.
As a fashion blogger, what were you looking forward to seeing in New York Fashion week?
The most exciting time of the year for bloggers is always fashion week. This time of the year is the busiest for us. We plan our outfits and the events we will attend in advance. We work hard to coordinate everything to perfection including travel and hotel stays.
Personally, I love fashion week. For me, it is extremely exciting. I am a fashion addict and I love to attend shows and presentations to view the upcoming trends for the next seasons. I love to see what designers have created for the upcoming seasons. It is all a work of art and a way to express yourself. Then I love to share the upcoming trends with my followers and readers. During this F/W 2018 New York Fashion Week, I was super excited to attend my shows since I officially received over 40 invitations, and this included some of the big designers from Badgley Mischka to BCBG Maxazria. I was extremely proud of myself to have the ability to attend my shows and presentations. It has shown me how far I came into my career as a blogger. I was also looking forward to not only attending the shows and events, but also seeing friends who were flying into New York City, networking, meeting other bloggers, and working together with photographers to take photos of my looks.
Why is it important for a fashion blogger to attend Fashion Week?
Fashion week is extremely important for any fashion blogger and fashion influencer. Now-in-days, we bloggers and influencers hold the power to influencing and generating sales. We dominate the market and this directly means that we always have to be on top of the upcoming trends. Followers and readers look up to us as having the knowledge of our niche and market. They know us as the experts for getting style inspiration or simply buying what we are wearing or using. Fashion week allows us to keep up with the upcoming trends. We are able to see what products will be hot for the next season and how they can be styled. We are able to see the new trends before anyone else and we are able to introduce these new innovations to our followers and readers.
Aside from that, attending fashion week is also important to us in terms of networking. By attending these events, we are meeting people constantly. These people may be bloggers, editors, or photographers. We have the ability to form a relationship and partner together in the future. I know I personally have met a lot of people this season and I created strong friendships with them. We are always working together and supporting one another. At the end of the day, this only benefits you.
What was your best event so far from NYFW and why?
The best event from NYFW for me was going backstage with Aveda for Tibi. I personally love Tibi and have always wanted to attend one of their shows. Tibi’s fashion shows are extremely popular. A lot of bloggers always want to attend Tibi’s show. Luckily, I was able to go backstage with Aveda since I have a strong relationship with Aveda as one of their influencers. I was able to see the full on hair trends, hair tips, hair inspirations, makeup trends, makeup inspirations, and looks beforehand. I was extremely happy to see everything beforehand, but to learn a lot myself. I was happy to network and see my Aveda family.
Which look was your favorite look that you wore to NYFW?
One of my favorite looks for the shows was the classic Chanel themed look I went for from the S/S 2018 show. I bought a cute classic Zara dress and jacket that looked similar to the Chanel vibes from their S/S 2018 show. I layered a lilac turtleneck under the dress and paired it off with Kanye West Tubular shoes.
Which fashion trends are going to be popular this year according to NYFW?
There are a lot of upcoming trends that I saw during the F/W 2018/2019 shows that I am looking forward to.
Currently plaid is in, but don’t worry, it is not leaving anywhere anytime soon. For the upcoming seasons, we will see plaid like never before. It will be bolder than ever. We will be making statements in plaid. Plaid in saturated hues such as hot pink will be hotter than ever. During NYFW plenty of designers showcased plaid suits in hot pink and they were incredible.
Regarding outerwear, puffers, fur, and trench coats will be in trend. They will be more dramatic than ever. They will catch anyone’s eyes. We saw puffers on the runway in bright hues and extremely oversized. That is how we will see them in the fall and winter. Fur jackets were seen in bright colors from yellow to red. Trench coats were seen in leopard prints everywhere during NYFW.
One new trend that was introduced the new crop top silhouette. This top is a part bathing suit, part sports bra, and part strapless bra with underwire. It was seen a lot on the runway and will be extremely popular.
In terms of color trends, red and hot pink will be the hottest colors of the season. We saw bright pink everywhere on the runway from tops to shoes. We also saw red dominate from head to toe. The most exciting part is that the combination of pink and red will be extremely popular. Most designers used a combination of both of their pieces.
What is your personal favorite trend from NYFW?
One of my personal favorite trends will be tea length floral dresses. During the shows, these dresses were paired with cute booties. I am a big fan of booties and floral prints. I find this trend to be extremely chic, but casual. It is perfect for any person to easily put together for any occasion.
Urszula Makowska is a growing social media influencer, full-time fashion blogger, and actress born and raised in the heart of New York City. Growing up in Brooklyn, she attended dance class for five years and completed her certificate in acting. Hayward High School students are in for a treat this Tuesday. Oakland emcee and Hayward alumna Kamaiyah will host a private screening of the latest movie in the Marvel Cinematic Universe saga, Black Panther.
The film deemed as “a defining moment for Black America” by the New York Times, features a predominately African America cast and is said to be one of the most inspirational films for black youth in decades. Kamaiyah, who is an eminent display of women empowerment and a champion for the successful development of her community, wasted no time bringing the projected record breaking film to adolescents at her former high school.

Total and Aston Martin are pleased to extend their partnership, originally signed in May 2016.
Two years of working side by side in the FIA World Endurance Championship enabled Aston Martin Racing to win the GTE Pro 2016 and GTE AM 2017 drivers’ title, along with a prestigious victory in the 24 Hours of Le Mans 2017 in the GTE Pro class. Total thus extends its technical contribution by becoming involved in developing the new Aston Martin Vantage GTE. The new car will compete in the World Endurance Championship 2018-2019 Super Season, which will kick off with the 2018 WEC Six Hours of Spa-Francorchamps and culminate in the 2019 24 hours of Le Mans, both races being run twice over the course of the season
Total Lubrifiants delivers its technical expertise through a trackside engineer and oil analysis laboratory at each World Endurance Championship race event. Acquired over many years in Formula 1, this indisputable expertise in elite racing is both unique and indispensable — and available only to Aston Martin Racing in the FIA WEC.
Total, Energy Partner of Aston Martin
Total and Aston Martin work together closely to develop lubricants specific to the British carmaker’s engines.
Aston Martin recommends TOTAL QUARTZ INEO DYNAMICS 0W-20 for the Aston Martin DB11’s V12 5.2ltr twin-turbo engine.
Total Lubrifiants will also offer a second product for both the V8-powered DB11 and the recently launched Vantage.

TECHRULES GROWS GLOBAL CAPABILITIES AHEAD OF REN RS REVEAL AT GENEVA MOTOR SHOW
Techrules will reveal the production design for its high-performance Ren RS supercar on 6 March 2018 at the 88th Geneva Motor Show. In addition to establishing key partnerships with China-based global companies, Techrules is in discussion with potential international automotive partners to form strategic alliances to assist with the production and launch of vehicles for markets around the world.
The Beijing-based company is prioritising the growth of its commercial capabilities by working with a number of global automotive and non-automotive companies. This will enable Techrules to further the development of its range-extending proprietary micro-turbine technology for a variety of mobility and industrial applications.
World premiere: Ren RS
The performance-focused Techrules Ren RS is a new single-seat, light-weight variant of the Ren supercar first previewed at last year’s Geneva Motor Show. Presenting a similar dramatic, aerospace-inspired design and fighter jet-style canopy, the Ren RS has been crafted by world-renowned automotive designers Fabrizio and Giorgetto Giugiaro.
Designed for track use only, Ren RS has been honed for high performance racing by renowned motorsport specialist L.M. Gianetti of Turin. The Ren RS can be configured with four or six electric motors – with the latter configuration featuring two motors at the front and four at the rear, delivering a maximum power of 960 kW (1,287 hp/1,305 ps) to launch the car from 0-100 kph in just 3 seconds and on to a maximum speed of 330 kph.
At the heart of the Ren RS is Techrules’ revolutionary Turbine-Recharging Electric Vehicle (TREV) powertrain. The patent-protected range extender system uses a turbine to drive a generator which rapidly charges the high capacity 28 kWh battery pack, which combined with several proprietary technical innovations delivers an exceptional range of 1,170 km from 80 litres of diesel fuel.
Strategic alliances are currently being formed for its supercar and premium car business. This will allow Techrules to enhance its engineering and production capabilities, ahead of the launch of the Ren supercar within two years, as well as other vehicles and products.
Increasing global capabilities
Techrules is making significant investments to grow its own research and development capabilities. World renowned electric vehicle expert Prof Dr Ching Chuen Chan is leading a newly established Techrules R&D centre in Beijing, which develops and tests core components for different types of turbines, as well as complete turbines for powertrains of commercial and passenger vehicles.
Professor Chan has a long list of merits. He is the founder of the Electric Vehicle Association, a Fellow of the Royal Acadamy of Engineering in the UK and an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering.
Techrules is also developing partnerships with several major China-based global corporations. This follows significant interest in the micro-turbine recharging technology, with its weight-saving and range-extending capabilities making it ideal for a wide variety of automotive and non-automotive applications, including various industrial appliances in markets around the world.
Joint ventures are being agreed with new energy bus manufacturer Wuzhoulong Motors, and CRRC, the world’s largest supplier of rail transit equipment. A partnership is also being finalised with Shenzhen BAK Technology Co. Ltd, a global leader in battery research and development.
These collaborations will enable Techrules to develop its TREV powertrain for use in a variety of mobility solutions, including low-emission and fuel efficient public transport and light commercial vehicles.
