Society has been transformed by new technology: consciousness can be digitized; human bodies are interchangeable; death is no longer permanent.

Robb Vices Subscription Box

A surprise selection of rarities, curated to provide a spectacular moment in time – experiences that until now, were reserved only for the few (very) fortunate.

The publisher’s modernly-debonair son, Daniel Curtis, has gone 3D with it and now Robb Vicesis a subscription box.

The boxes are surprises each month, filled with the most small-batched wonderfulness; all curated around a story and meant to stoke and satisfy curiosity about the good life.

The contents are worth $500-$800 and feature incredible things like technologically-wild writing instruments designed by Ferrari’s Pininfarina, hand made Italian Finlay & Co sun spectacles, luxe Euro-styled Bluetooth speakers or rare elixirs like the first creme de cassis made in 1874 from the house of Gabriel Boudier or the Louis Vuitton-owned Glen Morangie, maker of some of the world’s most spectacular single malt scotch whiskies since 1843.

Memberships must be applied for and are offered either month-to-month or for 3, 6 or 12 month periods. For approximately (depending up on what subscription chosen) $100, every month, you can gift someone else (or yourself) with a box filled with rarities that together have been curated to provide an exquisite moment in time.

Since it’s creation in 2016, Robb Vice collaborations have been done with chefs such as Daniel Boulud and Marcus Samuelsson and collections from brands like Lalique, Master & Dynamic and Highland Park. Master milliners, Worth & Worth offered the making of a bespoke hat; the box included a tape measure and swatches of handwoven Honduran fabric from which to create it.

This Spring, one of the boxes will feature all that it requires to experience the most moving of music on original vinyl. We can’t tell you what the products are – but if you remember the delight of buying a diamond tip needle, it may ignite your imagination about the contents.

Robb Vices is about discovery; getting something in the mail that creates a spectacular moment, that until now, was reserved for the very few fortunate.

Radiation Warning

HEALTH SCIENTISTS, TECH EXPERTS WARN AGAINST GIFTING “SMART” PHONES, TOYS THIS HOLIDAY, NOTING RADIATION EXPOSURE RISK

Press Conference Call with former President, Microsoft Canada; Cancer Researcher, NIH Scientist on TUESDAY, Dec. 19th at 12 PM

This week, California Dept of Health issued guidance on reducing cell phone radiation

Washington, DC—In the final days of the holiday shopping season, medical and tech experts are  warning parents against buying their children smartphones or Wi-Fi enabled toys, noting that they could pose serious health and safety risks according to experts.  Parents are often unaware that these child-friendly devices emit radiofrequency radiation. Recent studies have found that this radiation—the same radiation we use to cook food—could be viewed as cancer-causing. This week, the California Department of Public Health (CDPH) issued guidance for individuals and families who want to decrease their exposure to the radio frequency energy emitted from cell phones.

On Tuesday, December 19, tech and health experts will convene to discuss the serious threats that these devices pose to children and will offer tips for navigating the “safer” use of popular technology. Devra Davis PhD MPH, founder & president of Environmental Health Trust, Frank Clegg, former President of Microsoft Canada and CEO of Canadians for Safe Technology, and Ronald Melnick, PhD, a retired NIH scientist who led the design of the world’s largest study on cell phone radiation, will discuss how to reduce radiation exposure at home, talk about the toys that carry radiation and offer recommendations on how to make “smart” decisions when buying gifts for your family.

Numerous studies have linked cell phone radiation to cancer and other health problems, causing long-time advisors to the World Health Organization’s International Agency for Research on Cancer (WHO/IARC) to argue that this radiation should be regarded as a human carcinogen causing glioma—the same type of brain cancer that affected Senators Ted Kennedy and John McCain. The landmark $25 million U.S. NIH/NIEHS National Toxicology Program study found long-term that daily exposure to cell phone radiation led to cancers of the brain and heart nerve in male rats, as well as DNA damageStudies in humans who have used cell phones up to their heads for over 10 years also found increases of the same types of cancers.

Child star recalls filming “It’s a Wonderful Life”

Culture Editor Tom Wilmer visits with child star in film classic “It’s a Wonderful Life”

Back in 1946 six year-old Jimmy Hawkins played the role of Tommy in It’s a Wonderful Life. Decades later the film was voted the most inspirational movie of all time by the American Film Institute.

When It’s a Wonderful Life hit silver screen for Christmas season in 1946, it was a box-office flop and lost more than $500,000 even though it was nominated for five Academy Awards, including Best Picture. At the time, producer Frank Capra did not think of his movie as a Christmas-themed story. The association gained momentum over the years.

I recently visited with Jimmy Hawkins and he recalled his role as Tommy, insights about Frank Capra, Jimmy Stewart, Donna Reed, and other cast members. His recollections were as vivid and fresh as if the movie was filmed a year ago, rather than 71 years ago.

Hawkins also talks about his subsequent roles as a teen heartthrob on the Donna Reed Show and other television series.

He starred in the first Elvis movie, Girl Happy, and subsequently worked as a Hollywood producer. During the course of his career, Hawkins starred in or produced more than 500 movies and television shows.

Hawkins also shares the secret of the belated success and cult-like love of It’s a Wonderful Life that didn’t take off until the 1970’s when someone forgot to renew the copyright.

Jaden Smith has released a new video for his single “George Jeff.” In traditional Jaden Smith fashion, which is anything but average, the multitalented actor, model and musician delivered another stunning visual.  “George Jeff” plays out on one of the most beautiful backdrops we’ve seen. Throughout the video Jaden delivers unique bars with his polaroid camera in tote.

The MSFTS Music/Roc Nation artist released his debut album SYRE November 17th. This past summer, Smith teased the project by putting out back-to-back singles: “Watch Me,” a rock-tinged rap ditty, which showcased the 18-year-old’s growing agility as a master rhymesayer and “Batman,” a tribute to the late Adam West that resurrects Smith’s superhero alter ego. Both songs and their accompanying music videos have been well received with nearly ten million collective views to date on VEVO alone.

SYRE is now available worldwide on all digital platforms.

LUNAZ – VACATION

Add this band’s newest release, “Vacation” to your play list.

The debut single “Lost On You” and the follow up “Time After Time” is now followed up by “Vacation”. Lunaz wrote and produced this song.

Over 3 million streams on Spotify really gave him a successful debut.

The idea for the song “Vacation” came when Criss came back from a spontaneous short trip from Lisbon, Portugal when he recorded his first ideas inspired by the land of the sailors and discoverers in his smartphone.

“Vacation” is a trifle more progressive as the previous tracks and is very danceable and catchy. It won’t leave those legs rest in the clubs.

LUNAZ shows how talented and manifold he is. Further songs with great features and an album are in the making!

Join our journey and lets go on vacation for 3 minutes!
