Checking Into the Future with Marriott TestBED

As we turn our attention to a world of pilot-free-planes and robot butlers, 3 tech start-ups from across the globe have come together in London for an immersive experience showcasing the future of travel technology being implemented in hotels around the world.

As part of this year’s TestBED accelerator programme, three start-ups were selected from 150 industry pioneers to pilot their products in Marriott hotels across Europe. On the 15th of November, these start-ups came together for a unique experience to showcase the hotel of the future where guests and staff interacted with the products in a real-hotel environment.

The University of Mary Washington in Fredericksburg, Virginia held its first ever Shadow Event on Tuesday, November 14. The event was put on by UMW’s Where is the Line?, a club dedicated to raising awareness for sexual assault and domestic violence as well as providing support to survivors and empowering people to restore the hope that was lost. The club is affiliated with the Fear2Freedom organization.

The Shadow Event was held in on campus Dodd Auditorium. 6 survivors were given the opportunity to share their stories anonymously. A large, back light projection screen was set up in the center of the stage and each speaker had a designated color light that illuminated their silhouette to the audience. There were 5 female speakers and 1 male at the November 14 event. Over 100 students from the small school were in attendance to show their support. Representatives from the local prevention and support organization, Rappahannock Council Against Sexual Assault (RCASA), were also in attendance to provide counseling to audience members who may have been triggered by the speeches. In addition to the 6 speakers, there were singers that performed a song every 2 speeches to allow audience members to recollect themselves and take a mental break. Tori Power of the school’s show choir group covered Sara Bareilles’ “Brave”, Ellé Antzoulatos, WITL’s marketing coordinator, sang Miley Cyrus’ “The Climb”, and Rachel Lynch, a dedicated member of WITL, sang an a Capella version of Jeff Buckley’s “Hallejuah”. The audience members were given a set of colored notecards and a pencil upon arrival and had the opportunity to write words of encouragement to each speaker. The notes have been screened by club members and will be given to each survivor who spoke to help with the healing process.

The event was a tremendous success and WITL has begun planning and preparation for this spring’s Celebration Event, an interactive event where students will put together after care kits for victims of sexual assault and domestic violence to receive upon intake into a shelter or at the beginning of a rape kit. ere is the Line is a club dedicated to the prevention of and spreading awareness about sexual assault and domestic violence. The club hosts events and projects to aid survivors as well as educating peers about the issue. The club founded the Share The Hope project, a non-profit jewelry sale in which for each bracelet sold, one is donated to a survivor. WITL at UMW was. Founded by Nicole Lind and Kelsey Welsh in January 2017.

DANCE COMPILATION FEATURES TWO NEW REMIXES FOR TRACKS BY ALEX AIONO AND SELENA GOMEZ

Interscope Records releases HELIX – Volume 1, a compilation of some of the label’s top dance songs and remixes, today via all digital retailers. Listen HERE.

Greatest Hits: God’s Favorite Band includes 20 hits spanning Green Day’s prolific 31 years as a band. In addition to “Back In The USA,” it also features a new duet with award-winning Country Music superstar Miranda Lambert on “Ordinary World.” Green Day frontman Billie Joe Armstrong previously collaborated with Lambert at the 56th annual Grammy® Awards in 2014 for a live duet in tribute of the late Phil Everly of The Everly Brothers.

On March 22nd, God miraculously came down to the Ed Sullivan Theatre to introduce Green Day as “God’s Favorite Band” on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.  When God speaks people listen, and that day God bestowed upon Green Day the title: Greatest Hits: God’s Favorite Band. The collection chronicles the sonic journey of one of the most essential and dynamic rock bands in recent history. Formed in 1986 in Berkeley, CA, Green Day achieved breakout success with 1994’s Dookie, which has sold more than 10 million copies to date in the U.S. alone. Widely credited with popularizing and reviving mainstream interest in punk rock, Green Day would go on to release Insomniac (1995), Nimrod (1997), and Warning (2000). ​Orlandus Andre Branch (born July 14, 1989) is an American football defensive end for the Miami Dolphins of the National Football League (NFL). He played college football at Clemson. 


An electrifying defensive end for the NFL, Andre Branch is entering his second year with the Miami Dolphins, his first of a three-year contract extension. By all accounts, 2016 proved to be a break out season for Branch as he racked up 49 combined tackles, 5.5 sacks and two forced fumbles while playing in all 16 games. A first team All- ACC pick during his senior year at Clemson University, he was selected as the 38th pick overall by the Jacksonville Jaguars in the second round of the 2012 NFL draft.


It is Andre’s sheer grit and underdog mentality that has driven him to go from an underrated high-school recruit to earning a starting position at Clemson and ultimately the NFL. Raised in Richmond, Virginia, Andre takes great pride in the positive influence both his mom and his community had on his development. As a young man, he found a passion for football, excelling on the field by being a continuous learner and student of the game. He has taken that same approach to grow and learn about the fashion industry, his second passion.


A multi-dimensional individual who has an infectious enthusiasm for football, fashion and positively impacting the South Florida culture and community.
