OFF BLOOM RELEASE NEW TRACK ‘GOLDEN DREAMS’

Following the release of the feisty new single ‘Shut Up And Let Me Walk’ and the Hudson Mohawke-produced kiss-off ‘Rockefe11a (F**k That To Be Honest),’ rising Anglo-Danish trio Off Bloom announce a brand new 5-track EP titled Lover Like Me, due out on October 13th via Capitol Records. The EP includes the aforementioned tracks plus three new offerings – the first taste of which is the glittering four-to-the-floor workout ‘Golden Dreams’ – Listen HERE.

Speaking about the EP, the band commented, “This EP is about love, sex, frustration, intoxication and of course loyalty, loyalty, loyalty. This group of songs represents the last 3-4 months of our lives – our ups and downs, our fuck-ups and successes, our loves and losses. We had an amazing time creating this EP and got to experience so much, and those experiences shaped the music. We just want to connect to the people listening to these tracks and hopefully some people will see themselves in the music and in us and want to join the bloominati.”

The Lover Like Me EP comes after previous single ‘Falcon Eye’, the follow up to the Anglo-Danish trio’s breakthrough debut EP Love To Hate It.

The trio – Mette on vocals and Mads & Alex on production – formed in Copenhagen but recently moved to London. Their unique, boundary-pushing sound is the perfect melding of Scandinavian electro pop and a new wave of UK and US beats with global influences. The band is from the same forward-thinking young Danish scene as MØ, Liss, Vera and Vasco, have worked with the likes of Two Inch Punch, Kid Harpoon and AlunaGeorge and have collaborations lined up with the likes of Bauer and RL Grime. Watch this space.

“Copenhagen based trio Off Bloom make punchy, radio-ready songs with a genuine streak of could-care-less attitude.”

“If you don’t know Off Bloom, you should. They sound like a perfect love child between Flume and Sleigh Bells: melodic, noisy, and sensual.”

“(Off Bloom makes) fiery, punk-influenced pop with killer hooks.”

Josh Bennett hand knits style and Marvel storytelling together in new menswear sweater collection

Josh Bennett hand knits style and Marvel storytelling together in new menswear sweater collection

Josh Bennett, fashion designer and knitter extraordinaire, brings his passion for Marvel and its complex storytelling into a new sweater collection inspired by Marvel Studios’ Thor: Ragnarok. The new line will showcase Nordic influences, luxury fibers, and fantastical touches across a tight range of men’s sweaters available this holiday season.

Hand knitting has had a renaissance recently, taking the fashion world by storm, and Bennett has led that charge with custom knitwear collections in conjunction with Bergdorf Goodman, Michael Bastian, Tommy Hilfiger, and others. Sweaters remain a staple of winter fashion, and hand-crafted knitting is the ultimate in luxury with each piece designed and finished in the US by Bennett himself. Josh has also expanded his business by using KOCO (Knit One Care One), a knitting hub located in India, that empowers and educates women in the skills of knitting, math, and English.

Bennett has always had a love for storytelling, and grew an appreciation for the robust worlds in Marvel stories as he immersed himself in Marvel films. When Thor: Ragnarok was announced as a November release, the unique settings, bold colors, and sense of wonder made it a perfect idea for a winter sweater collection. Using references from the film, modern day trend influences, and new knitting techniques, Bennett has created a first-of-its-kind collection.

“Thor has been a character in Nordic mythology long before Marvel captured the Asgardian prince in his debut comic in 1950. The film reference was a fantastic help to tell the story and set the mood, but I knew I did not want these sweaters to be literal depictions of the characters. I decided to combine aspects of the original Norse stories with the rich Marvel storytelling, making each sweater desirable to super fans of both genres. Each design has unique details that reference both authentic Norse mythology and Marvel plot points,” states Bennett.

Marvel has had great success with merging its characters with the fashion world, as its fandom is excited by lifestyle apparel to have a unique way to celebrate their passion for the brand and characters. Past collaborations have spanned couture to performance wear, but this is the first co-branded sweater line ever done from Marvel. The luxury limited edition collection includes four different styles, a chunky cardigan, v-neck tennis sweater, fisherman hoodie, and fair isle zip up, and uses yarns including 100% Italian cashmere and yarns from New Zealand, a nod to Thor: Ragnarok director Taika Waititi. Each sweater is extremely limited to no more than three pieces per size for each style and is numbered and dated.

“Marvel characters are cool, strong, and relatable, so it is exciting to see such a smart and creative interpretation of the main players in Thor: Ragnarok,” said Paul Gitter, senior vice president, licensing, Marvel at Disney Consumer Products and Interactive Media. “We constantly strive to extend the scope of what Marvel merchandise can be in order to expand what current fans are looking for and to bring in new fans, so a luxury sweater collection is an amazing way to celebrate this unique film and how far the Marvel brand has come.”

The Josh Bennett x Marvel collection ranges from $1095 – $1495 USD and is available to shop online at www.joshbennettnyc.com beginning November 10th with a pre sale October 10th.

About Josh Bennett

Josh Bennett grew up in Pennsylvania where he learned to knit from his grandmother when he was 8 years old. After a short time, he stopped, because boys don’t knit. Then he got interested in musical theater, because all boys sing and dance. In 2000, Josh worked at the Goodspeed Opera House in East Haddam, CT where he picked up knitting again from the cast members in the show, and hasn’t stopped since.

After moving to New York City in 2001 and knitting constantly, Josh worked at a yarn shop on the Upper West Side that wrote custom patterns for their customers. Noticing the lack of menswear patterns being designed and published, he took his pattern writing skills and was determined to change that.

Since, Josh has collaborated with CFDA Award winner Michael Bastian on a hand knitted line, Michael Bastian by Josh Bennett sold at Bergdorf Goodman, Sak’s 5th Avenue and stores worldwide. They have also worked together on projects for the Folk Couture: Fashion and Folk Art at the American Folk Art Museum, Le Cabinet de Curiosités of Thomas Erber, and a fashion helmet for the NFL/Bloomindale/CFDA Super Bowl XLVIII collaboration which was auctioned off for the NFL Foundation.

He was the Men’s Sweater Designer at Tommy Hilfiger and has also worked with and designed for GANT by Michael Bastian, Perry Ellis, Alexander Wang, Rowan Magazine, Vogue Knitting, and other knitting publications. He is the designer of his own exclusive capsule collection of men’s hand knitted sweaters at Bergdorf Goodman, Josh Bennett + Goodman’s.

Josh studied Menswear Design at the Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT).

When the The All-American Rejects embarked on their recent musical release, “Sweat,”they called on director Jason Bergh to document their most intimate visual exploration to date for the short documentary, “Rejected.” Bergh, who has worked with frontman Tyson since 2005, jumped headfirst into an ambitious behind-the-scenes journey that he hoped would reveal a completely new dimension of the band. As soon as Tyson sent over the new record, I was hooked. Tyson’s boundless creative energy is nothing short of infectious.Over the course of 5 days and with unlimited access, Bergh crafted a stirring cinematic poem that reflects the vision and creativity for which the band has become known over the last 18 years.

Known for stadium-size sing-alongs steeped in pop panache and rock n roll danger, cheeky wit, and raucous concerts that border on religious experiences, The All-American Rejects confidently waltz against the grain. Their 2017 2-song EP Sweat, and the upcoming fifth full-length album, continue a near two-decade tradition of ballsy, brash, and bold pop rock anthems.

SUR RELEASES DEBUT SINGLE “LEAN BACK” SEPTEMBER 22ND ON INTERSCOPE RECORDS

Northern California bred musician/producer Zack Arnett reveals his new project SUR and releases the debut single, “Lean Back,” today, September 22nd, via all digital retailers. The track was written and produced by Arnett who also handled all the instrumentation. Listen to “Lean Back” HERE.

The song is meant to shed light on disenfranchised people, the people with no voice and little hope, the divide of our country and the race wars that still seem to be as present as ever,” says Arnett of the soulfully inventive track that combines fuzzed-out guitar riffs with heavy beats and chant-like vocals.

SUR is the brainchild of musician/producer Zack Arnett, who also adds to his credentials visual artist, poet, medicinal farmer and apothecarian. Frustrated by the confines of Los Angeles, Arnett built a makeshift studio in the back of an RV and set out on a journey through the desert, national parks and Big Sur. While out on the road, Arnett began creating a sound both gritty and melodic, nuanced and volatile, reflective and deeply life-affirming. The lifelong musician will release a debut EP early next year that fully embodies the forces at the heart of SUR: love, violence, and nature.

NAWAS

NAWAS RELEASE DEBUT EP – TROUBLE – TODAY ON HARVEST RECORDS

VIDEO FOR NEW SINGLE “WHO ARE YOU” PREMIERES TODAY
NAWAS JOINS MAX FROST ON TOUR THIS FALL

Louisiana-bred, Nashville-based trio NAWAS release their debut EP – entitled Trouble – today via all digital partners, available to stream and download here. Watch the video for their new single “Who Are You” which premiered today here. The video was directed by the bands frequent collaborator Steven Worster and filmed in Nashville. NAWAS will join Max Frost on a North American tour beginning September 29th in Dallas. The run will include performances at Brooklyn’s Rough Trade on October 11th and wrap at The Echo in Los Angeles on November 8th (see below for all dates).

On Trouble, NAWAS approach pop music with both immaculate songcraft and rule-breaking originality, blending elements of electronic music, hip-hop, and R&B. Throughout Trouble, the band, which is vocalist/songwriter Jake Nawas, guitarist Ben McDaniel, and drummer Joey Gonzales, brings a layered complexity to its lyrics, a dynamic embodied in the soulful title track. “There’s a line in that song that goes ‘Trouble always follows me,’ which is a theme that runs across all of the EP,” says Nawas. “There’s a dark side to it but there’s something deeper there too – and sometimes trouble can be a good thing.”

NAWAS recorded the bulk of the EP in their adopted hometown of Nashville, joining forces with Grammy Award-nominated Sainte to expand their sound with more intricate textures and undeniably massive hooks, as well as Tim Anderson (Twenty One Pilots, Halsey) and Daniel James (Nicki Minaj, Selena Gomez).

Trouble arrives following a string of singles, including breakthrough track “Wrong,” which hit No.1 on Hype Machine and was praised by SPIN for “find[ing] the medium between Prince’s androgynous melodies and Calvin Harris’s euphoric bangers.” Their debut track “So Low,” was hailed as “beautifully produced” by The Fader, who also made note of Nawas’ “bewitchingly androgynous falsetto.” NAWAS has landed on Spotify’s most coveted playlists (including New Music Friday, Weekly Buzz, Discover Weekly, and Fresh Finds) and is fast approaching one million combined streams. Earlier this year, they released the track “Make It Work” and their single “Who Are You,” which appears on Trouble.

The tracklisting for the Trouble EP is as follows:

1) Who Are You

2) Running

“‘So Low’ is beautifully produced with smooth beats and an R&B-esque tempo. The direct, contemplative lyrics are delivered in (Jake Nawas’) bewitchingly androgynous falsetto.”

“(NAWAS is) primed and ready to rattle speaker systems.”

“‘Wrong’ is a dense, sparkly track featuring heavy bass and fluid guitar riffs that find the medium between Prince’s androgynous melodies and Calvin Harris’ euphoric bangers”
