GLITTER RUN 2017

Be bold, be proud and BE-DAZZLED at LA’s first Glitter Run – a festive 5k run/walk taking place on Sunday August 20th. The event will benefit the Los Angeles LGBT Center and its newest initiate, Mi Centro, a partnership with the Latino Equality Alliance which provides a variety of bilingual services in Boyle Heights.

Thousands of participants will be gently coated in seven colors of non-toxic washable glitter as they make their way past the sprawling scenes and iconic landmarks that adorn Hollywood Blvd.

Longtime LGBT Advocate and executive board member of the LA LGBT Center’s Young Professionals Council, Jason Wimberly joins the fight to unite all walks of life in a glittering display of unity. The Founder of the fitness studio “The WALL”, along with his staff of instructors and trainers, pledge their support as official spokespeople of the inaugural event and vow to raise awareness of the cause.

“The Los Angeles LGBT Center is the largest organization of its kind, working to make the world a better place for LGBT people. With so much division in our society, and so much of the Center’s federal funding at risk, The WALL is thrilled to help make the first Glitter Run a huge success,” said Wimberly. “My team believes there is strength in numbers and that’s the guiding principal for how we teach our classes. This event is a perfect, sparkly example of just that.”

No fundraising required – just a $90 sign up fee (includes merch and goodies). Children 12 and under run/walk for free.
Wimberly and team will also be a holding additional Glitter Run inspired events at The WALL on August 5th and 6th. See attached invite for more info on these additional events.

Your Invited! Seth Glier at Berlin on July 24th

SETH GLIER // NYC SHOWCASE // MONDAY JULY 24, 2017

@BERLIN — 7:30PM

A hush descended upon the packed underground bunker of New York City hot-spot, Berlin. The shimmering, ethereal opening notes of the song “Scars” gently rolled over the industry crowd, bringing them into Seth Glier’s inner sanctum of soul and emotionally electric songs.

Grammy-nominated troubadour Seth Glier took to the stage Monday evening, July 24 to perform a passionate and dynamic industry showcase set at NYC’s Berlin club. Together with his longtime sideman Joe Nerney (saxophone, harmonica) and Rachel Coats (upright bass), Glier treated the audience to songs from his upcoming new album, Birds, as well as reinvented music from his previous work.

Rebellion was definitely in the air as Glier fiercely belted out his anti-fracking song, “Water On Fire”, and treated listeners to his raw, provocative version of the Buffalo Springfield classic, “For What It’s Worth” (which featured Nerney doing some amazing harmonica runs and vocal harmonies). It was incredibly surprising to see not one person talking, not one cell phone in use and not one person who wasn’t transfixed by this young man’s magnetism as well as his prodigious talents. This is an artist in his prime and one can assume that this private audience of insiders will look back in a few years and say, “I saw him when…” to impress their friends. You can pre-order his new album Birds on Pledge Music or reserve a copy on iTunes. Clips from the show below:

CALL ME BY YOUR NAME

We’re excited to share the Official Trailer for CALL ME BY YOUR NAME. Don’t miss this sensual and transcendent tale of first love starring Armie Hammer, Timothée Chalamet & Michael Stuhlbarg, and featuring original music by Sufjan Stevens, in Select Theaters November 24th!

CALL ME BY YOUR NAME, the new film by Luca Guadagnino, is a sensual and transcendent tale of first love, based on the acclaimed novel by André Aciman. It’s the summer of 1983 in the north of Italy, and Elio Perlman (Timothée Chalamet), a precocious 17- year-old American-Italian boy, spends his days in his family’s 17th century villa transcribing and playing classical music, reading, and flirting with his friend Marzia (Esther Garrel). Elio enjoys a close relationship with his father (Michael Stuhlbarg), an eminent professor specializing in Greco-Roman culture, and his mother Annella (Amira Casar), a translator, who favor him with the fruits of high culture in a setting that overflows wit h natural delights. While Elio’s sophistication and intellectual gifts suggest he is already a fully-fledged adult, there is much that yet remains innocent and unformed about him, particularly about matters of the heart. One day, Oliver (Armie Hammer), a charming American scholar working on his doctorate, arrives as the annual summer intern tasked with helping Elio’s father. Amid the sun-drenched splendor of the setting, Elio and Oliver discover the heady beauty of awakening desire over the course of a summer that will alter their lives forever.

UNDERWORLD: Beaucoup FishA remastered classic re-released August 25

4CD Super Deluxe / 1CD / 2LP / streaming / download

Underworld have announced details of the deluxe remastered re-release of their 1999 classic Beaucoup Fish (via UMe). The album comes as a single CD, a 4CD super deluxe box set and a double vinyl LP. The album will also be available on all streaming and download platforms. Pre-order the album at the links below:

4CD Super Deluxe:

http://UMe.lnk.to/BeaucoupFish4CD

1CD: http://UMe.lnk.to/BeaucoupFishCD

2LP: http://UMe.lnk.to/BeaucoupFish2LP

Hugely anticipated on release in the spring of 1999, Beaucoup Fish continued Underworld’s singular vision. From the opening Windy City meets Motor City meets Thames Estuary swoop of “Cups” through to the flickering low light coda of closing track “Moaner,” the eleven tracks on Beaucoup Fish collectively served to highlight just how different the wiring of Underworld’s internal logic is.

Whilst some of their peers had spawned lesser imitators, Underworld’s sound on Beaucoup Fish remained resolutely theirs. While many of the prevalent fragmented electronic styles of the day would be assimilated, the end result remained unique. If there had been a mould created when Rick Smith, Darren Emerson and Karl Hyde first made music together in the spare bedroom of a terrace house in Romford, it had long since been broken. There were no imitators. There never have been.

Beaucoup Fish features the singles Moaner, Push Upstairs, Jumbo, King of Snake and Bruce Lee. The deluxe edition’s second disc features eleven previously unreleased outtakes from the recording sessions. The third and fourth disc feature remixes of album tracks by the likes of Fatboy Slim, Slam, Salt City Orchestra and Adam Beyer.

The Beaucoup Fish super deluxe edition comes packaged in a hard case 12”x12” box that complements the acclaimed expanded reappraisals of dubnobasswithmyheadman (2014) and Second Toughest In The Infants (2015). This edition also includes a 60-page booklet with a new essay on the album. As with its predecessors, audio remastering was undertaken by the band’s Rick Smith at Abbey Road Studios. All packaging and artwork has been created by long time Underworld collaborators tomato.

Underworld – aka Karl Hyde and Rick Smith – recently presented an installation piece – Manchester Street Poem – as part of Manchester International Festival 2017. The project spotlighted the stories of those who’ve found themselves homeless in the city. Their last gig – a sold out show London’s Alexandra Palace – was the band’s biggest UK headline show to date.
