Nexen Tire pushes for victory in Formula Drift

Driver Fredric Aasbo drove his Nexen Tire N’Fera SUR4G shod Toyota to his third podium of the season, finishing second and delivering another point boost to Nexen Tire in the Formula Drift Tire Cup.

“It was an incredible competition and we showed yet again why the Nexen N’Fera SUR4G is our tire of choice,” said Aasbo. “It gave us the edge when it mattered and I can’t wait for the two final high-speed rounds of the season where I think our tires are really going to shine.”
The 2015 Formula Drift World Champion, Aasbo is currently second in the championship points with two stops remaining on the calendar. He is the most winning driver in the series, with a record 10 victories. He drives for the veteran Papadakis Racing squad, which owns more championship titles than any other team in the series.
Up-and-coming Oregon driver Matt Coffman took the Coffman Racing Nissan 240SX as far as the Great 8 round on Nexen rubber, besting veteran Robbie Nishida in the opening round to face Kristaps Bluss in the Top 16. Judges deemed the first head-to-head matchup against the formidable Latvian too close to call, and Coffman advanced with a fan-favorite, full-commitment effort in the One More Time re-run.
Nexen drivers Jhonnattan Castro, Cameron Moore, and Dan Burkett advanced to the Top 16, while Ken Gushi, Kyle Mohan, and Alec Hohnadell contested the Top 32.
The tire manufacturer returned to Formula Drift this season for the second year as a major series partner. The Nexen Tire sponsorship brings with it on-track and television visibility, as well as exposure to the series’ strong and connected millennial fan base.
“When it comes down to motorsports and our demographic, I think Formula Drift is the key to reaching a young, social savvy audience,” said Senior Motorsports Manager Paul Jho. “If I was to compare with any other motorsport, Formula Drift is the one that leads the category for what we need as we continue our growth.”
The series provides live and on-demand online coverage through a variety of channels including its popular digital broadcast and social media live streaming, as well as 20 half-hour television programs on CBS Sports Network. Motorsport.com and Motor1.com also offer exclusive content through Formula Drift’s relationship with Motorsport Network.
In addition to marketing reach, the company’s involvement with teams in the series offers an excellent test environment. Nexen Tire teams use the N’Fera SUR4G, an Ultra High-Performance tire designed for high-speed stability.
“When you look at evolving tire technology, drifting is a sport that puts the tire in extreme conditions — guaranteed,” said Jho. “We collect a lot of data that we can use in developing our products across the Ultra High-Performance range.”
Nexen Tire is also seeing success in SCCA racing this season, with a generous contingency program supporting racers and multiple podiums achieved with the SUR4G tire at every national competition. The tire maker took its first SCCA ProSolo Super Challenge victory this past weekend at Oscada Wurtsmith Airport in Michigan with Ken Houseal in a 2016

This year, the company joined Manchester City Football Club with the English Premier League’s first-ever sleeve sponsorship. Nexen Tire also became the official tire of 2017 International Champions Cup, a series of a dozen matches between leading European soccer teams at U.S. stadiums last month.
Next, the Formula Drift championship travels to Fort Worth, Texas, September 8-9, before wrapping up the year with the California season ender at Irwindale Speedway October 13 and 14.

Black Cow Vodka

Vodka is the most popular spirit category around the world, and by a large margin. It has found favor with both genders and reaches across all demographics.

Enter Black Cow, the world’s only super premium vodka made entirely from milk. It was launched in May of 2012, by British dairy farmer Jason Barber and artist, turned commercials director, Paul Archard.

Jason certainly has been creative with getting the most from the milk of his 250-strong herd. The milk is separated into curds and whey. The curds are used to make the award-winning “1833” cheddar; whey, which contains the sugars necessary to produce alcohol, is used for this innovative, super premium product. While other vodkas are predominantly grain-based, and fermented using a yeast that converts fructose into alcohol, Black Cow uses a strain that converts the lactose into a type of “milk beer” that is distilled and blended using Barber’s secret method.

It turns out that the inspiration came from the culture of Mongolian, Siberian and Tibetan nomadic tribes, who have been producing alcohol from cow, mare and yak’s milk for generations. In cold, barren climates it is impossible to cultivate crops, so people who live in such environments survive on their livestock. Milk, which is rich in sugar, was the only thing available to make alcohol from. For hundreds of years, milk, collected from the animals, was turned into all sorts of sustenance and, notably, alcoholic drinks, using up every last bit of it. 

All great ideas are born on a napkin at an airport bar or kitchen table. The new business partners, brainstorming at the latter, came up with a plan. Four years later, Black Cow vodka is sold around the world.

This small batch vodka is very bright, vibrant and fresh in character with a soft, rounded, smooth and creamy texture, and a lovely finish. Subtle notes of baking spices, cinnamon and vanilla waft from the glass. It is certainly distinctive; it’s high-quality is ensured by the fact that it is made entirely from the milk of grass-fed cows with no additives or preservatives. Its single ingredient guarantees a unique and subtle flavor profile. The best part? Move over, wine. It is recommended to be enjoyed with cheese.

It’s easy to see how “what grows together, goes together.” In this case, since the origin is identical, milk vodka can work well with cheese. Barber makes 1833 cheddar, which won awards at the World Cheese Fair, utilizing the same milk used to make Black Cow vodka. A pairing made in a cheese-lover’s paradise.

Barber himself is a big fan of the beverage – part of his quest was motivated by personal consumption. “If you want to drink well, do it yourself” philosophy paid off. 

This unique, ultra-smooth vodka has achieved wide critical acclaim, won awards and gathered a host of celebrity followers including the likes of Stephen Fry, Jamie Oliver and Cate Blanchett. Mark Hix, the celebrated British chef, maintains that it makes the world’s best martini.

Rye has a long history with American palates. George Washington was no stranger to its distillation and distribution, becoming the largest purveyor of his time. And who isn’t familiar with cocktail staples such as the Old-Fashioned and Manhattan that made rye a popular pastime?

WhistlePig was launched in 2007 on a 200-year old farm in Shoreham, Vermont by Raj P. Bhakta. Alongside prominent former Maker’s Mark Master Distiller, Dave Pickerell, Raj is on a mission to craft the finest Rye in the United States.
