LA Pride! #ResistMarch

Sunday, June 11th  |  8am

On Sunday, June 11th we will march from Hollywood, where LA Pride was born in 1970 to West Hollywood, where LA Pride grew up. Instead of a parade celebrating our past progress, we are requesting that our entire LGBTQ+ community and its allies march to ensure our collective futures. Our march will be taking place in solidarity with and on the same day as the National Equality March for Unity and Pride in Washington DC.

We simply felt that in 2017 we need to return to our roots and protest so that those who would roll back our hard won human rights are put on notice that we will not stand idly by. This is the founding premise of Christopher Street West. This march is for those who believe that America’s strength is its diversity. This is not a democratic or republican march. It is not a red or blue march. This is a red, white and blue march meant for anyone who cares about human rights. On Sunday, June 11th our unique, diverse, inter-sectional voices will come together in one harmonized voice.

The youngest son of Reggae legend Bob Marley, Damian “Jr. Gong” Marley garnered his own place in music history when he became the first ever Reggae artist to win a GRAMMY outside of the “Reggae” category, taking home an award for “Best Urban/Alternative” performance for his title single, “Welcome To Jamrock“. ALEX AIONO RELEASES VIDEO FOR “QUESTION”

Tour With Sabrina Carpenter Kicks Off July 6th

Santa Monica, California, June 9, 2017 – 21-year old musician Alex Aiono releases the video for new single “Question” today.  Directed by Hamish Stephenson, with choreography by Supple Nam, the video for “Question” was shot in one day in London after Alex completed his first headline run of sold out European club dates. After releasing his debut original song “Work The Middle” earlier this year, and touring the U.S. on a sold out co-headline run with William Singe, Aiono released new song “Question” in April.  Watch the video for “Question” here.

Says Aiono of the video, “’Question’ is a song about the humility of moving on from a toxic relationship and I’m really proud that Hamish helped us capture the spirit of the record in the visuals.”

Aiono will join Sabrina Carpenter on her North American tour this summer (see below for complete list of tour dates).

By early 2016, Los Angeles-based Aiono had already amassed millions of followers by creating his own deconstructed mash-ups of popular songs when he posted a video where he performed a cleverly arranged version of Drake’s “One Dance” and Nicky Jam’s “Hasta el Amanecer.”  The clip exploded prompting The FADER to declare “Alex Aiono is the shockingly good YouTube singer the world actually needs.” To date the clip has amassed more than 56 million views and Aiono’s fan base includes nearly 5 million YouTube subscribers and fast approaching half a billion views, 2.3 million Instagram followers, and 460k+ Twitter followers. Aiono receives over 1 million views a day on his YouTube channel along.  Aiono is featured on German DJ Felix Jaehn’s new track “Hot2Touch” – currently Top 5 at radio in Germany – and is currently working on his debut album.

Country Legend Glen Campbell’s Farewell Album “Adios”

Los Angeles – June 7, 2017 – Glen Campbell’s remarkable life story – the real-life rags-to-riches tale of a boy who grew up as one of 12 children to poor Arkansas sharecroppers in the ‘30s and went on to become one of the most revered singers and guitarists in popular music – is told in his just released song, “Arkansas Farmboy.” The track, which premiered via NPR Music who declared, “the golden voice, Campbell’s greatest musical attribute, remains: His singing communicates pathos and grace in equal measure,” is from Campbell’s forthcoming farewell album,Adiόs, out this Friday, June 9 on UMe. The song was written by Campbell’s former bandmate and lifelong friend Carl Jackson who produced the new collection. “I wrote ‘Arkansas Farmboy’ sometime in the mid- to late-‘70s on a plane bound for one of the many overseas destinations I played with Glen between 1972 and 1984,” says Jackson. “It was inspired by a story that Glen told me about his grandpa teaching him ‘In The Pines’ on a $5 Sears & Roebuck guitar when he was only a boy. That guitar led to worldwide fame and fortune, far beyond what even some in his family could comprehend.  It sends chills all over me now to hear him sing in first person the words I penned about him all those years ago.”

Listen to “Arkansas Farmboy” HERE and watch in-studio footage of Campbell and Jackson recording the song HEREAdiόs is available for pre-order here: http://UMe.lnk.to/AdiosPR

Adiós was recorded at Station West in Nashville following Campbell’s “Goodbye Tour” which he launched after revealing he had been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease. As Campbell’s wife of 34 years, Kim Campbell, explains in the album’s touching liner notes, “Glen’s abilities to play, sing and remember songs began to rapidly decline after his diagnosis in 2011. A feeling of urgency grew to get him into the studio once again to capture what magic was left. It was now or never.” She concludes, “What you’re hearing when listening to Adiós is the beautiful and loving culmination of friends and family doing their very best for the man who inspired, raised, and entertained them for decades – giving him the chance to say goodbye to his fans, and put an amazing collection of songs onto the record store shelves.”

For the
Adiós recording session, the Campbell’s turned to Jackson to helm the production, play guitar and help his old friend. In preparation for the recording, Jackson, who joined Campbell’s band in the early ‘70s as an 18-year-old banjo player, laid down some basic tracks and vocals for Campbell to study and practice. Jackson encouraged him every step of the way and although Campbell struggled at times because of his progressing dementia, he was clearly ecstatic about being in the studio.
The 12-track collection features songs that Campbell always loved but never got a chance to record, including several from Jimmy Webb, his longtime collaborator behind some of his biggest hits like “Wichita Lineman” “By The Time I Get To Phoenix,” and “Galveston.” In addition to the bittersweet title track, Adiós,” first popularized by Linda Ronstadt, Campbell also sings Webb’s longing love song “Just Like Always” and country weeper “It Won’t Bring Her Back.” He revisits “Postcard From Paris” with his sons Cal and Shannon and daughter Ashley singing the line, “I wish you were here,” resulting in a powerful and heartfelt message of a family singing together one last time.

Adiós sees Campbell putting his spin on several classic songs including “Don’t Think Twice It’s All Right,” inspired by Jerry Reed’s version of Bob Dylan’s timeless tune and “Everybody’s Talkin’,” a banjo-filled take on Fred Neil’s song that Campbell never recorded but famously performed on the “Sonny & Cher Show” in 1973 with a 19-year-old Carl Jackson. Campbell’s daughter Ashley plays banjo on the song and joins her dad on several tracks on the album. Other songwriters featured include Roger Miller with “Am I All Alone (Or Is It Only Me),” which begins with a home recording of Miller singing the tune at a guitar pull before going into Campbell’s rendition with Vince Gill on harmonies, Dickey Lee’shonky tonk heartbreaker “She Thinks I Still Care” and Jerry Reed’s Johnny Cash hit “A Thing Called Love.” Willie Nelson joins his old pal for a moving duet of Nelson’s 1968 “Funny How Time Slips Away.”

Adiós was a labor of love and a way for Glen Campbell to have one more chance to do what he loves to do and leave a musical gift for fans. Campbell, who turned 81 in April, is in the final stages of Alzheimer’s disease. He lives in Nashville where he is surrounded by his loving family and getting the very best of care.

ABOUT GLEN CAMPBELL
In a legendary career that spanned more than five decades, Glen Campbell created an indelible mark on American pop culture as a beloved musician, singer, movie star and television personality. From his time as a groundbreaking guitarist for Elvis Presley, Frank Sinatra, The Beach Boys and many others in the archetypical backing band The Wrecking Crew to his decades atop the charts to the grace he showed as he closed his career while fighting Alzheimer’s disease, there are few artists who have touched as many lives as the Rhinestone Cowboy.

Before announcing his retirement from the studio and stage in 2013, after half a century of recording and touring, Campbell had won most every award and achieved every milestone available to musicians. Born in 1936 as the 12th child and seventh son of a dirt poor sharecropper, Campbell rose from his humble beginnings in rural Delight, Arkansas to become one of the best-selling solo male artists in U.S. chart history. The global superstar released more than 70 albums, selling 50 million copies with more than 80 songs charting. He achieved chart-topping, platinum-selling success in the arenas of pop and country music, bridging the two worlds and bringing country music to the masses as one of the genre’s first crossover stars. Testament to his widespread appeal that spanned generations and genres, borders and language barriers, his musical accolades were dizzying: 21 unforgettable Top 40 hits, including two No. 1’s; 27 Top 10 Country singles, six Top 20 albums, including the double-platinum classic, Wichita Lineman, and nine No. 1 country albums.

Campbell’s musical and entertainment lifetime is unmatched for its prolific breadth, popular appeal – and flat-out musical accomplishment and achievement. His biggest run of hits (“Gentle on My Mind,” “By the Time I Get to Phoenix,” “Wichita Lineman,” “Galveston,” “Rhinestone Cowboy,” a signature song that became his theme in many ways, and “Southern Nights,” just to name a handful) put him in the pop elite of the ‘60s and ‘70s, erasing the line between pop and country and helping pave the way for generations of others.

A six-time Grammy winner, Campbell made history in 1967 with his first Grammy wins by sweeping the song and performance awards in both the pop and country and western categories. “By the Time I Get to Phoenix” won the pop honors and “Gentle on My Mind” took the two country and western trophies. Those two songs and “Wichita Lineman” are in the Grammy Hall of Fame. A member of both the Country Music Hall of Fame and the Musicians Hall of Fame, Campbell won Country Music Association’s Entertainer of the Year, twice won the Academy of Country Music’s Album of the Year award and was named Male Vocalist of the Year by both. In 2012, he was bestowed the Grammy’s most prestigious honor, a Lifetime Achievement Award.

Campbell’s striking good-looks and country charm made him an instant television success with his variety series, “The Glen Campbell Goodtime Hour.” Seen in millions of homes across the U.S. for four seasons, Glen Campbell became a household name and a true celebrity. The show’s broadcasts in Great Britain, Australia and Singapore introduced him to an even wider audience and catapulted him to worldwide fame. Campbell also moved into the world of film as the hand-picked co-star of John Wayne in the movie “True Grit.” His eponymous song for the soundtrack was nominated for an Academy Award and he was nominated for Most Promising Newcomer at the Golden Globes.

But even at his popular peak, few were aware of the full extent of his credentials as a first-call session guitarist whose much sought-after musicianship as a member of The Wrecking Crew – widely considered one of the most successful session recording units in music history – helped shape Phil Spector’s famed “Wall of Sound” and The Beach Boys’ most creative works. After thrilling Brian Wilson with his talent, Campbell later became a touring member for a stretch when Wilson first retired from the road in 1964. Alongside musicians like Leon Russell, Carol Kaye and drummers Hal Blaine and Earl Palmer, Campbell played on an astounding 586 sessions in 1963 alone. His memorable guitar parts can be heard throughout the Beach Boys’ landmark Pet Sounds album, Frank Sinatra’s “Strangers in the Night,” the Righteous Brothers’ “You’ve Lost That Lovin’ Feeling” and the Monkees’ “I’m a Believer,” not to mention hits by Elvis Presley, Bobby Darin, Lou Rawls, Ricky Nelson, Merle Haggard and Bobby Vee.

Global Executives are Bullish

7 June, London: Global middle market organizations, companies with annual revenues of US$1m-US$3b, are showing no signs of slowing down in the face of geopolitical uncertainty. Over  one-third (34%) of middle market companies plan to grow 6%-10% this year, far outpacing the latest World Bank global GDP growth forecasts of 2.7%, by more than 3%-7%.

The findings released today in the EY Growth Barometer, a first-of-its-kind survey of 2,340 middle market executives across 30 countries, reveal that in spite of geopolitical tensions, including Brexit, increasing populism, the rise of automation and artificial intelligence (AI) and skilled talent shortages, 89% of executives see today’s uncertainty as grounds for growth opportunities.

Despite facing two years of Brexit negotiations, start-ups (companies under five years old) headquartered in the UK are displaying the highest levels of confidence of the countries surveyed. UK start-ups are the most positive on current year growth ambitions with 26% seeking to grow by 11-25% and a further 23% looking at year-on-year growth of more than 26%.

But when looking at the largest markets, there are significant differences between the world’s largest economy, the US where slightly more than a third (35%) of all companies plan modest growth increases of under 5%, compared to the world’s two tiger economies – China and India – where together 42% of companies are targeting growth rates of 6%-10%.

Executives identified technology and talent not only as the top two challenges facing the middle market C-suite today, but they are also seen as the tools by which they will overcome challenges and remain agile.

Bodyweight training trends – functional challenge for 2017

Luke Brown, founder Fitness Hardware

Bodyweight training is one the fastest growing categories in the fitness space today. We’re seeing more training methods embraced by the military and professional athletes now being used by people of all skill levels. The popularity of Cross Fit and sports like Mixed Martial Arts have really pushed the fitness community to adapt these new methods. With the right tools and motivation, a well-rounded functional training approach utilizing a person’s own body weight can lead to incredible gains.

What are the benefits of bodyweight training over other methods?

1. Bodyweight training can be done almost anywhere. And, it works! A great example is the pushup comparison to bench press. Pushups work the chest, shoulders, triceps, back and abs while bench press skips the back and ab workout.

2. Training in an unstable environment promotes joint stability and spinal stability through improved core strength.

3. Improves proper body mechanics through joint stability, mobility and controlled ranges of motion.

4. Reduces the risk of injury by improving movement, increasing stability and using controlled range of motions.

5. Improves overall strength results over machines because of the constant variations of exercises.

Bodyweight training has so many benefits, but we wanted to find a better way to use leverage equipment to work complex muscle groups from multiple angles. We wanted something that lets you load your muscles for critical development.

When our Fitness Hardware team set out to create a new functional training device, we had a couple of major requirements.

1. It had to be work the whole body. Too many products only do one or two things and ours had to work all muscle groups.

2. It needed to be simple and portable with no set-up.

3. It had to be challenging for the most advanced athletes, yet functional for people of all levels.

4. We had to offer a simple set of workouts people can use to get ideas, review proper form and add challenge to their routines. With this list of requirements, we designed ABLE – Advanced Bodyweight Leverage Equipment – a simple pair of platforms that can do it all. With hand grips for upper body moves and a toe lock feature for ab, core and leg moves, ABLE is truly a new standard in simple and challenging bodyweight training.

Our product development focus groups included everyone from MMA athletes to people who hadn’t worked out in years. The results were amazing. The beginners had challenge with the most basic moves, while the advanced athletes tried new holds and variations to load their muscles and test balance. Feedback was incredible, and we knew we had designed a great tool for all levels of training. Thanks to the support of friends and fitness lovers throughout Seattle, ABLE is now available for pre-order.

E! NEWS EXCLUSIVE: Bella Hadid Admits She Prefers Donuts Over Yoga

Bella Hadid ain’t no yogi!

E! News’ Sibley Scoles caught up with the supermodel at the Nike Cortez launch event at The Grove in Los Angeles on Sunday and the brunette surprisingly admitted that she’s not into the yoga craze. Looks like someone won’t be perfecting her Happy Baby pose any time soon!

“When I work out I love to work out. I train and I work out hard for two hours,” said Bella. “I don’t like to do the whole yoga thing. I think yoga is calming and it’s amazing, but if I am going to go for it I am going to go hard.”

At the event, Bella posed in a Nike sports bra, black track pants and windbreaker. She also rocked the iconic “Forrest Gump” red, white and blue Nike sneakers, which have some major ’70s vibes. The Victoria’s Secret model did admit to Sibley that she isn’t always jazzed about hitting the gym, but that once she’s there, she gets focused on the task at hand.

“I wouldn’t say I get out of bed and I am like, ‘I am going to go work out!’ but when I get to the gym—rock and roll.”

As for the stereotype that models don’t eat, Bella says that’s anything but true and joked with Sibley. “You saw me shove a donut…in my mouth. I didn’t think anyone was watching!”

As for how the tasty treat was? “It was bomb,” said Bella.
